    Sears Appliance Repair
My ice maker needed parts which they ordered and had delivered to me. The next appointment to have the repair done was 2 weeks later which they never showed up for or called....I called and complained and I got a 20% discount on my repair but had to wait another 2 weeks for an appointment.. they did call and show up on time for the last appointment and the ice maker was fixed...good technician but I did have to wait over a month to get it fixed

    30 Minute Appliance Repair
They said they repaired the ice maker on our refrigerator (all they did was adjust the part that pushes out the ice) and it broke within 2 weeks. We called up and made an appointment for them to come back at 9 AM and they never showed up. I called and was told they would be there later in the day and still never showed up.. I called 3 times and they would not answer or return message. Very unhappy with them... they don't stand by their work I finally gave up calling and got someone else to repair it.

Imagine you paid $790.73 for a Maytag dishwasher, delivery, installation kits and an additional $110.00 for a five year extended warranty and it failed after 3 years and 5 months. It just stopped cleaning. You pull out the manual and try all the tips to get it working for a week.  You finally call the extended warranty company and 6 weeks (and counting) later it still isn't working!
The first local repair company they send was Horry Electronic and Appliance Service. They called and made an appointment for a week later on a Wednesday.  On Wednesday they called and said the tech knew the problem was the pump and was going to order one.  Since they said it would be in the next day, we expected them out on Thursday.  But no, they said we only service your area on Wednesdays. So it would be another week!! They show up, with no pump in hand and tell us all the times they have made these calls and the problems are with the owners using dish soap or popcorn in the drains. In other words, its our
fault! They leave telling us we are using too much soap because soap is remaining after the rinse. I explain that we clean each dish before placing them in the washer and only use 1/3 of the recommended soap amount. I advised them the reason it has soap remaining is because is isn't working!
Nevertheless, we take several days running cycles to clear out soap, which they say was the problem but wasn't.  We had already tried that.
Then when we call back to the Protection Plan (PP) company they say they'll get back in two business days. They don't.  We call back, escalate to a supervisor, and he says they are trying to get someone from Columbia, SC, two and on half hours away, and they'll get back to us in two business days.  They don't.  We call back to the PP, escalate to a supervisor who is semi-incoherent and, finally, in frustration hang up. We contact Eric Johnson, the local HD, a**'t mgr and he tries to work with the PP company. He is not successful.
We tell both the store manager and the PP company, we want the Maytag replaced with a GE. (Note that HD web site says if they can't repair it they will replace it.) NOT SO!  Marie, the HD store manager, says it can only be replaced if the same component fails three times in one year. We checked the protection plan, and sure enough it does say that.  So ignore that broad statement on the HD web site. It, also makes no difference how long you have to go without a usable dishwasher. They can and do continually drag out the time. I guess a dollar deferred is a dollar saved to the bottom line.
In our case, so far its been 6 weeks to the next appointment (from when we first contacted them and 7 from when the Maytag failed) and counting to who knows how long afterwards.  Marie, the HD store manager, calls the PP company and they have a service company coming in a week and is having to come from Charlotte!!  We tell Marie that is unacceptable because of the additional time involved. We again stressed we wanted the Maytag replaced with a GE.
Up until the Maytag, we had bought GE appliances from HD and have always had good maintenance service.   The problem, as we now perceive it, is they have good local GE repair people available to HD, but not so with Maytag products.  After the embarrassing (for HD) visit by Horry Electronics they had to reach out to Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC for someone to repair a Maytag.
Our advice, don't buy Maytag appliances from Home Depot unless you are willing to put up with this kind of service and the frustration of working with them.
Although both Marie and Eric were attentive, worked with the PP company and seemed to be concerned about the long amount of time involved, their efforts were to no avail. In our view Home Depot as a whole did not make a good faith effort to resolve our complaints.
These comments have also been submitted as a complaint to the SC Department of Consumer Affairs, the SC Coastal Better Business Bureau and Angie's List.

They provided the best alternatives, then set a time and came on time.  It took the most of a day to install, but when they left, you would not have known they had been there.  Good experience.  Will use them again, but not too soon I hope.

It is a busy time for repair technicians at the beach, but Jerome was kind enough to squeeze me in.  ( I had to come down from Charlotte,NC to get the repair done.)
Jerome knew exactly what the problem was with the washing machine and luckily had the part in his truck.
He came in and got right on the problem, replaced the switch with the new one and we were back in working order.
Jerome is a gentleman who is talented in his work and a true professional.  It was a pleasure for me to meet him.

Ever try and find a trust worthy repairman at a summer home. I asked everyone then Angie
My refrigerator is 6 years old and the water line was installed incorrectly. Brass compression ring and nut on plastic tubing, never a good marriage. I spent hours looking for parts and scraping my knuckles but had to give up. Ok so I turned off the water and had no water in thee door. Grand kids were not happy.
Then I became the dish washer when suddenly, my 6 yr old Whirlpool dishwasher stopped working. I am pretty handy and checked all the usual and even got ot my continuity tester and found I had power up to the board. I started looking at buying new one's until I saw the prices. My wife kept saying call someone. Easier said then done.
Enter JR, I called him on a Tuesday he arrived that night at 6pm. He had the part for my refrigerator and installed it in 20 min. He then tested the dishwasher and diagnosed a fuse. He told me he would have it on Monday. Friday night he called and said he had it and did I want it fixed now. 5:30 pm. Heck yeah.
20 min finished and working. I know Mama is always right and so was JR.

Provided over the phone very useful advice about repair vs purchase of a replacement microwave.  Very professional and unbiased advising to replace vs repair, which obviously cost them some business, but demonstrated integrity.  I would definitely use this service if needed in the future

Jeff was very punctual and went right to work. He was efficient, knowlegable, friendly and professional. He explained the situation with the drain clogging and what causes it. We will definitely call him again for service in the future.

The ice maker in the refrigerator at our condominium stopped working during our recent short stay. We needed to get this repaired in anticipation of the forthcoming rental season in very short order while we were still in town. Contacted Jeff at Jand J Appliances. Jeff diagnosed the problem from my description on the phone and sent Thomas over to repair the unit the same morning as my phone call. Jeff and Thomas were very professional and cost effective. I noted all their contact information in my notes for future repair work.
    Great overall service!!

I called Luke this morning and described my repair problem  He asked where I was located and I told him the sub-division.  He said he would call me back when he finished the call he was on.  That was 5 hours ago.  I guess he does not frequently visit my area-North Myrtle Beach but if that was the case why not just say so.  Too late today to get anyone else so he has put me a day behind getting my repair done.  Shame on you Luke-just be a man about things and tell the truth.
Thank goodness he did not come out-after reading the other review here on Angie's List I think Luke would be a waste of time and dollars.
