Clothing Alteration reviews in North Myrtle Beach

When I returned to pick up the completed curtains, I was charged $167.73.  I complained to the Manager, Carl, that this cost was well above an average of $8 to $10 per panel that I had paid cleaners in the past to alter a similar type of curtain (unlined, lightweight polyester fabric).  The Manager used a $10 Gift Certificate and lowered my overall price to $156.83.  I continued to argue about this overcharging with the Manager, but he insisted he was correct in charging me this amount.  So, I left the store a very unhappy customer.  At that point, I intended   not to use the Sunshine Cleaners in the future because of their price gauging tactics.               During the next week I hung all 6 curtain panels and found that each panel was a different length and none of the panels were the same lengths nor were the panels the size (length) that I had requested and paid an exorbitant amount of money for.   I removed all 6 panels and returned them to Sunshine Cleaners and again spoke with the Manager, Carl.  I discussed paying $156.83 for very poor quality seaming work, and I requested a full refund.  Initially, Carl thought they looked fine, but when I laid each panel on the counter, one on top of another, it was very clear that all of the hems were different.  Carl’s next argument was that the seamstress did not work for Sunshine Cleaners, and he was not responsible for poor quality work.  I responded that Sunshine Cleaners accepted the initial order in their computer and also accepted payment for the order in their computer.  Why would they do that if the seamstress did not work for them. After much arguing, Carl told me that if I could find someone else (another seamstress) to hem these curtains for a cheaper price, that he would reconsider his costs and provide me with a refund.  He did not mention how much he would refund.  Carl also asked me to bring him an invoice for the cost from the seamstress who would do the work.   Within a couple of weeks, I had found a Seamstress, Pam Everhart of  “Alterations by Cheetah”.  Pam Everhart not only prepared an invoice for me to provide to Carl, but she charged me $5.00 to re-hem each curtain panel for a total cost of $30.00 for all 6 panels. This was quit a difference from the $156.83 that I had been overcharged by Sunshine Cleaners.  Pam Everhart completed the re-hemming of all 6 panels and returned the curtains to me on 12 July 2011.  Her work was excellent, considering that she had to remove all hems, and re-measure all 6 curtain panels before she could even being to sew.   Again, I returned to the Sunshine Cleaners and spoke with the Manager, Carl.  I presented him with the Invoice from the Seamstress along with several pricelists of seamstresses on the Internet all depicting reasonable costs for hemming items, sewing and mending.  Again, we had a very length discussion, after which the Manager decided to give me only a store credit of $86.00.  I told him I did not want a store credit.  I had promptly paid Sunshine Cleaners $156.83 for work that was never satisfactory completed, and that I wanted a cash refund.  Carl would not provide a cash refund.        Since this time I have tried to contact the Manager, Carl throughout the fall and early winter of 2011, and each time his employees would tell me that he was not available or on vacation.   I would not recommend this dry cleaning/seamstress business to anyone.   Assistance by the staff of Angies List would be very much appreciated.
