Fence Company reviews in North Charleston

    Carolina Fence Company
The WORST Company - Find ANOTHER fence Company! We can not figure out how the Carolina Fence Company could have been given five (5) stars. We called them out for an estimate to install a 6 ft. wooden fence, with gates on each side of the house. Our initial deposit was given on March 29, 2019. Due to the rains, our fence was installed approximately 3 weeks later. During the installation, we had a few neighbors who came over the look at our gate. Within a week after installation, we noticed that a few boards had split, and the gates weren't closing properly. It took the manager about 3 weeks to come to check out our concerns. He promised to send someone out to correct the problems. After about 3 more weeks, the few boards were replaced. They left and did not repair the gates, adding to my concern, since we have a small dog. We called the company numerous time and spoke to a lady that said they were going to come over again to check out the gates. We played telephone tags for about six (6) weeks. Most of the time she would not answer or return our calls. The original manager NEVER returned our calls. After leaving a message that we were going to call the owner, the person who installed the fence showed up the next day. He claimed that there was not much that could be done to correct the gates. This fence cost us a lot; and, the gates are still not fixed. After all the repair and communication problems, we let our neighbors know how the company operates. We would like to know how the owner of a company can allow their staff to operate like this. Once, I know how to attached pictures, I will. We WANT our gate fixed. We WANT our gate fixed. We WANT our gate fixed. An Unsatisfied Customer!

Fantastic craftsmanship! Wonderful customer service! Will hire again! Asked for a custom style see through topper to fence in back, with regular charleston style fence otherwise. He saw one photo and was able to duplicate it no problem. Easy peasy! He knows his stuff, and works quickly and efficiently. Helpful and patient when any issues arise!

    Charleston Fence LLC
Employees are very friendly and respond promptly. The only drawback to such excellent service is that Charleston Fence must be in high demand because the wait to get our fence built was roughly two months.

We had appointment on Monday May 22, at 9:30am which we arranged our time for. The owner no-showed and I didn't hear from him until a text appeared on Wednesday. So we rescheduled a meeting for 10:30am Friday May 26. At 8:00 Friday morning we get a text from him changing it to his "production manager", plus changing the time, because they can't make it by then. The person who came out seem totally on interested in making the sale and did a little more than take measurements. We were shown any literature or options for materials. Weird. Do companies like this not think how that looks to a prospective customer? If it's that hard to keep an appointment, and have the most basic communication skills, it leaves us wondering just how an install job might possibly go. Oh, by the way, we never got a quote. Unprofessional!! You decide for yourself.

    PRESTIGE LANDSCAPING
Jim and the crew did awesome work. Jim and Cinnamon were very responsive and helpful to all my questions. The guys showed up on time in the mornings and stayed as late as possible in the afternoon to get the job done. They were polite, courteous, and professional. Jim checked in often to monitor the progress and make sure we were happy. Price was more than reasonable for the amount of work done. If you need any landscaping done, Prestige is the way to go.

    Charleston Fence LLC
Charleston Fence LLC did an amazing job installing our fence. From the first phone inquiry, they were responsive, knowledgeable, and personable. After calling 8 different local fencing companies, Charleston Fence LLC not only had the best price (and 100% fair based on the quality of their work) , but also a list of fantastic reviews and prompt answers for my questions. They were the obvious choice. Charleston Fence completed our fence almost 3 weeks ahead of our scheduled time and completed the entire fence in only 2 days. I'm a big DIY person so initially I wanted to install a fence myself - so glad I didn't! I have no doubt that doing the fence myself would have taken many backbreaking weekends of work and the end result would not have come close to the quality that Charleston Fence provided. Our fence is extremely well built and has transformed the look and feel of our backyard. The workers who built my fence were very nice and respectful of my yard as well (example- They called to confirm they could drive into my backyard even though it's just dirt and no grass right now. Also, I didn't find a single cigarette butt or any trash left in my yard from the construction.)

I requested an estimate back in March. It took two weeks for them them to submit the paperwork to my HOA. The original projected start date was at the beginning of May.  A month later (right before they were projected to start building the fence), it was discovered the paperwork was submitted to the wrong e-mail address. The documents were then forwarded to the right place. Finally, at the beginning of June, my HOA approved the fence and about two weeks later the fence installation began.

The posts went up without a hitch.

A few days later, work began on the fence panels. There were about five or six different people working on the fence. For the most part, it went okay. I do want to point out that my backyard (where the fence was being put up) has a lot of raised garden beds and potted plants. I moved all of the potted plants away from where the fence was to be installed, but throughout the day, multiple plants were knocked over and even the air compressor machine they used was placed directly into one of the raised garden beds. I also want to point out that when the estimate was first given, one of the raised garden beds was also stepped in. This is just careless and unprofessional. Respect the property you are working in.

After all the work on the fence was done, I went on a walk-through of the fence. I pointed out a spot where a nail was sticking out and they said they would fix it right away. They left, and it wasn't fixed that day. I found trash (an empty soda cup) and later discovered that three boards were not properly nailed in. After e-mailing Clyde, someone came back a few days later to fix the nail sticking out and nailed in two of the boards, but one board is still not nailed in. I e-mailed Clyde again, but still no resolution.

    Negatives
    • Took almost three months from estimate to finish to get the fence put up (more than a month after the original projected start)
    • Unprofessional / Disrespectful of property
    • Left Trash
    • Unresolved issues with the fence

    Positives
    • The actual fence went up pretty quick, but I'd sacrifice this to see it be put up more carefully and without boards not being nailed in, trash left and nails sticking out.

We were satisfied with the end result which was shared backyard between myself and neighbor.  The communication of getting the job started was frustrating at times.  The job was performed when it was extremely hot and they were busy with other customers but showing up on a Friday at 11:00 am to start and quit two hours later was not professional.  They did show up on Sunday to work on what they didn't get accomplished on Friday after I expressed dissatisfaction!  Overall the service was a "B" and Communication "C-".

    Advent Fence Co

After getting quotes from several fencing companies, we ended up using Advent Fence, and we don't have any regrets.  Vern was in frequent contact with me in regards to permits and scheduling.   He took care of the Hanahan permit and walked me through the HOA and Berkeley County permit forms.   He always showed up when he was supposed to and picked up all debris after he was done.   Very friendly and reliable.   He also used bigger posts for the gates and used quality hardware.   I would use him again for any fencing needs down the road.

Anthony was great to work with. When I called him for a quote, he drove out of his way to meet me and show the brochure of materials and presented the way he approaches his projects. After obtain a few competitive quotes, I found Anothony's to be the best price by a significant amount. That coupled with the overwhelming positive reviews on Angie's List, we decided to go with him. He came out to the house to perform measurements, then called me back a few days later with a quote on the materials. I revised the job to add a dog run area, and he then got back to us with a revised price, and offered to do the extra run of fence at no charge, as he thought it wasn't a significant amount of work. When he met me to measure the fence, it was muddy and pouring rain out, however he met with me anyway to make sure that we get the job going. I was impressed by that. The several times I met with him, he was punctual.
We had a lot of rain in the area, so that had pushed our jobs back by a few days - but Anthony showed up a day or two after the original anticipated start date. They began work, and the fence looked good while it was going up. Half way through the job, he called me with some bad news - he had told me that the fence supplier had mis-calculated the material, and we were short a few fence panels and posts. I wasn't thrilled to hear this and I called the fence supplier, and they apologized and admitted it was their mistake. It seemed like an honest mistake, so I simply paid the additional money to get the rest of the material. Anthony picked up the additional material and returned to get the job done.
In the end, the fence came out very nice, and we are happy with it. Anthony's price for 2 1/2 days of labor was very fair, and he is definitely not out to try and make tons of money off of people. I found the quality of the job to be very good overall, the the material supplied seemed to be good quality as well. He also left us with a can of expensive touch up paint for the fence in case we saw any spots that were scratched.
Anthony is a good guy, doing an honest business, and he works hard and cares about doing a quality job. There aren't a lot of contractors around like him, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to build a fence. We live in a new development where homes are being built, and I have recommended him to several neighbors already.
