When we needed a new roof, we went the usual route of crossing our fingers, asking for recommendations from friends and neighbors, and endlessly searching through online reviews. After weeks of narrowing it down to three companies, meeting with their representatives, and obtaining estimates, we chose Powell Roofing. James Powell, owner of Powell Roofing, impressed us. He took time to answer all of our questions—he explained the merits of different materials and warranties, the steps involved in the installation, crew members’ responsibilities, necessary permits, liability insurance, pricing, and the estimated time that it would take to fully complete the job—everything we needed to know to make the best decision. We had already done some research and we were leaning towards Landmark CertainTeed Pro shingles. As it turned out, James Powell is certified as a Select Shingle Master by CertainTeed; to put that in perspective, Select Shingle Masters meet the roofing industry’s most stringent credentialing requirements and are in the top 1% of their profession. That sealed the deal for us. We scheduled the work for three days in early February of 2020. Because our home is contemporary in style, with multiple levels of roofs and skylights, we were a bit skeptical about whether it could actually be completed that quickly. Crew Supervisor Bradley Warner met with us at the start of each day and reviewed the work schedule, including the timing of the lunch break and the scheduled close of the work day, which was very helpful and showed respect for our time. Bradley was on-site all day, every day, working alongside the crew. The entire crew—men and women—showed amazing teamwork in the installation, which proved to be a big factor in keeping a complex job like ours on schedule. Then, at the close of each day, they would walk the perimeter of the house to find and remove any roofing-related debris, including using a magnetized tool to locate metal fragments—paying close attention to the area around our pool. In our experience, a company that demonstrates that level of care and concern for property is rare. James Powell continued to check in with us and his crew every day via phone and text. He would ask us if we had any questions and if we were pleased with the progress, which of course we were. We were actually amazed at how smoothly it all went over the three days that we were promised and that’s because everyone on the team—from James Powell to his project supervisor and crew—really delivered. The end result, not surprisingly, is a gorgeous, well-built, long-lasting roof that has greatly enhanced our home’s protection and curb appeal. Neighbors have since made a point of stopping by to compliment the work and to ask for the roofer’s information. In the nearly 15 years that we have lived in our home, and after numerous home improvement projects by local companies large and small, this is the first time that we can recommend a company 100% without hesitation—they were that good.- Kristine M.

ALongman's Duct CleaningWent well. They enclosed the area by the hearth with a plastic barrier. He suited up and cleaned the whole chimney. They do not wash the hearth, but losses scrub and vacuum with a powerful heap vacuum. Once done they cleaned up the area.- Mark D.

ASouthline RoofingIgnacio and his team did a fantastic job! This was not an easy repair around the chimney on the sunroom and main roof. Parts of the decking needed replacing, the flashing and siding all needed to be replaced and fixed. Ignacio and his team are very knowledgeable and clearly know the technical details of roofing and siding here in the Low Country. And that made me very comfortable with the company. AWOW!!! That’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the job that Monty and his crew did for us. The ENTIRE job that they did was outstanding and we are extremely glad we chose them. The work that they did was top shelf, looks so good makes you want to not ever use it in fear of messing it up. Because of the job they did we will most definitely be using them for all the upgrades/remodels that we have in the future. AVaughnBuilt is our go to for all home renovation work and we couldn't be happier with the projects they have done for us. We recently completed a master bath gut remodel and did a full guest bath with them prior to that as well as some changes to some walls in our living room. All three projects went perfectly. The Vaughn's communicate consistently and effectively, bids are easy to understand and transparent on costs, any changes are documented well and all of our projects were completed on target on timing and price.
