    Broome Family Eye Care
I was given a comprehensive exam and an eyeglass prescription. The only failing I saw with Broome was that they do not have a variety of frame sizes in stock. I have a wide face (women's 52-54 requirement) and they only had one pair in the entire store in that size. They made an attempt to check the "back" storage area to find the one other pair they thought would fit, but they were unable to locate them. I did not return this year because I wanted some frame variety to choose from. When I need a new exam, however, I will go to Broome because they excel in exams. The cost I'll indicate was after insurance.

    Murphy & Robinson Opticians
Phil is friendly, efficient, and always concerned with each client. He ordered the lens and frame and they came in one week as he promised. The glasses fitting was prompt and thorough. I have gone to him for many years and will continue to do. He always says that if there is a problem, to contact him right away.

    Hendrickson Dr. Judith
Dr. Hendrickson is absolutely amazing and wonderful at getting exactly the right prescription for glasses and contacts. I had been fitted for glasses by the optomitrist at the Eye Guys but never saw very well. Dr. Hendrickson got exactly the right prescription for me and now I can see 20/20. I was told by two doctors in Augusta that my eyes were too flat to wear contacts. However, Dr. Hendrickson quickly special ordered me contacts which work perfectly. She is amazing and also very nice. The very best!

    Tippett Eye Care
The office staff was very friendly.  The Doctors were friendly but the exam was not very accurate.  First I will talk glasses.  When I picked up my glasses they were way to strong.  I mentioned this and was treated like it was my fault.  I was given another exam (which was way more thorough the second time around) and it turned out that I was correct.  Instead of admitting that something went wrong somewhere (exam or lab) they told me my eyes must have changed over the two weeks it took them to make the glasses.  I mean, just admit something went wrong.  It's not a big deal.  But saying my eyes have changed is inaccurate because I have a pair of old glasses that were just fine.  I just wanted a more fashionable pair so I know my eyes have not changed.  Anyway, the new glasses I picked up are still too strong but I was tired of dealing with these people so I just took them home.
Now contacts...I have two bad experiences.  First my contacts are also way too strong.  I actually said that in the exam and the dr. insisted I "try" out the stronger version.  I did and they gave me headaches.  This exam was given at the same time as the incorrect eye glasses exam.  Anyway, this was before I picked up my glasses so I figured it was me and I needed to get used to the contacts. They tried to sell me a years worth of contacts but I only wanted a box for each eye.  I was still unsure about the strength. Well, when I went to pick them up they ordered me the 12 pack for each eye instead of the 6 pack for each eye.  Since they were too strong and the box was opened I am now stuck with 11 contacts that are too strong.  Now my second contact story...my daughter's exam and experience.  My 22 year old daughter went for her exam and was treated like a bad child.  She has been having a lot of eye pain and itching and she mentioned this to the dr.  He immediately assumed she did not change her contacts as prescribed and this was the problem.  He then prescribed her "daily" lenses that cost a fortune. His rationale was that she would have to change them every day.  Really??  And, by the way, she does change her contacts as prescribed. Anyway, I sent her back after I called and told them I was not paying over $300 for a 3 month supply and they needed to put her back in Acuvue Oasis, which she loved.  Well, a power struggle ensued and he refused, instead giving her a prescription to a weekly contact which she hates. Since then, she has gone to another dr. and has an issue not related to the over wearing of contacts.

    Gregory Fowler, OD
Dr. Fowler and his wife are very friendly, have great personalities, and their sense of humor puts you at ease. They graciously answered all my questions, before I made our appointments.
Even though we were new patients, we didn't have pages of paperwork to fill out first - only one form. We were seen on time and because Dr. Fowler has current equipment (modern technology) the duration of our appointments was under 30 minutes!!
I was very happy with my experience and would most definitely recommend Dr. Fowler to my family and friends.

    Stanton Optical - Georgia
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because of this experience. The BBB has an alert on Stanton Optical and has received several complaints in town and over 385 nationwide complaints from consumers who received improper prescriptions, broken frames, or had trouble getting a refund for dissatisfactory services.
Stanton Optical's response was that they apologize for any misunderstanding. There was no misunderstanding for me, they did not communicate their policies of no returns with their sales staff. I always make it absolutely clear with a salesperson what the return policy is.
My experience at Stanton is apparently not unique. There are complaints about Stanton Optical on ripoffreport.com, glassdoor.com/reviews, reviewstalk.com, complaints board.com. The Ohio Attorney General's Office filed a lawsuit because of consumer complaints indicating that consumers waited months to receive eyewear after payment, received incorrect prescriptions or did not receive refunds they were owed.
Stanton Optical has kept $208 of mine for frames that I can not use and that I attempted to return well within the guidelines a store representative gave me. They were not damaged, they were clean, tags were intact, and they can easily be sanitized and returned to the shelves safely, like other similar businesses choose to do.
PLEASE GO ANYWHERE ELSE BESIDES STANTON OPTICAL.
OTHER PLACES IN TOWN ARE JUST AS INEXPENSIVE AND HAVE AT LEAST AS GOOD FRAMES AS THEY OFFER.

    Eye Guys
The ophthalmologists are extremely competent, although the personal touch is somewhat lacking because of the huge patient load.  I'm changing physicians within the practice with my next visit and hope that will change.

    Eye Guys
They take this funny x ray thing of your eye and tell you whether you need a shot in your eyeball or not. They take you every time and test you every time before they give you the shot in your eyeball, because if you don't need it they don't want to give it to you. It's very expensive. It's two thousand dollars a shot. I went in at nine forty and left at two o' clock, we were in there so long we might as well had a picnic. They are real professional, I like that. I feel like if you have any problems with your eyes, they seem real confident.

    Eyemart Express
The staff was efficient and the optometrist was competent. The appointment was for 2:00 and my wife was seen at 2:45 due to a lot of walk-ins. I think this is rare as the staff was not expecting the volume and only had one optometrist on duty, which caused the delay. The overall selection of frames from the store where good but we found nothing that suited us. Overall this is a decent place to get this service.

    Smith Eyecare
We like that he stays abreast of all the latest treatments and everything and he knows what is going on with our eyes. He had a present for me because I have a big pigmentation in my left eye and he made glasses that have a prism because one eye would see high and one eye would see lower levels. He corrected them, so he knows how to correct the glasses, so they give us the best vision. We have always been very satisfied and confident in his ability. We don't go to him that often, but he never keeps us waiting or anything, so that is good. His office environment is always very professional. The staff is friendly and they seem to know how to adjust the glasses so they fit us and we don't have any problem with that. For the most part the punctuality seems to be very good too and we don't wait that long for him. He is very personable and makes us feel confident in his ability. If we don't understand something, we can certainly ask him again, but we have never had any trouble and he tells us how it is. The effectiveness of his treatment is very good. The billing and administration is fine. Our insurance pays them and we have to pay the rest, but he is willing to work with us if the amount seems excessive. He works with us on payments and stuff.
