The front office is minimalist, and their reception staff could be more enthusiastic welcoming patients. However, Dr Adam Bigler was very friendly and explained everything he was doing and what was going on with my toe. He also was very nice when I passed out and brought me water, a fan and let me sit in the room as long as I needed to before I felt comfortable driving. His fees were reasonable for a self pay patient; I would see him again. I have not rated the effectiveness of the treatment yet, since it is still bandaged.

I went through the entire exam only for him to tell me that he didn't treat glaucoma but his brother Carl did. I asked why wasn't I told that to begin with and he said "you didn't tell me you were here for that." That was the point of the second opinion. I then had to make an appt with his brother Carl. ( I do not have glaucoma.) Carl told me rather than treat the narrow closure (laser iridotomy) that he would wait for my cataracts to 'ripen' then remove them and that would correct both issues. I then had to come back AGAIN for a 6 month check and Lo and Behold!! Magically the cataracts were ripe! (My cataracts are NOT ripe as learned through 2 other opinions.) He then talks (mutter) to me ( which I could hardly understand and asked him to repeat himself several times appearing annoyed) explaining the procedure. After all is said and papers signed, I learn he will be doing it in Georgetown and followups in Murrells Inlet. I also learned that I DO NOT HAVE GLAUCOMA. I live in Myrtle Beach and I do not have anybody I can rely on to take me to these places. I feel that these brothers are not totally up front with their patients and due to this trust issue, I cancelled the procedure. Would I recommend them?? Maybe to my worst enemy.... NOT EVEN.... providing you have money and time to waste, I wouldn't venture to even consider them.

The Physicians Assistant, Catherine Rowell administered a drug test without first telling me what she was looking for. Then based on bogus results I was taken off the only medication that worked for me. In doing so, this assistant took me off a controlled substance that I had been on for 12+ years - ultimately throwing me into debilitating withdrawal symptoms which made me miss work. The worst part was I had to be admitted to the hospital with cardiac related issues brought on by being taken off my rx too soon. This 'assistant' has absolutely NO communication skills, NO bedside manner and no consideration for her customers. I say customers instead of patients because I believe only Doctors are allowed patients, not some uneducated assistant who probably flunked out of med school. If you must go here, please see an actual Doctor and not the less education assistant, Catherine Rowell.

Cons:  Office, huge and impersonal, like an ER waiting room.  Office staff not great on phone--they lost the records my former office sent them.  If your office sends records on disk, they "don't do disks because of security"  and because it would require them to print out "thousands" of pages of records.  What do they do with the disk if sent?  I told them to give it to me, and I will print my records for them.  (My former office would have charged me to transfer records by the page directly to me, but it is free if they send it directly to the new doctor.)  Had to wait about 45 minutes to see doctor.  Doctor did apologize, and he did spend time with me.  He seemed knowledgeable.  I am not sure how the billing will go or how the doctor will handle lab results and any meds required.  I am nervous about this and hoping they will surpass my expectations.  A patient at the desk had his lab results hand-delivered by the nurse, and they didn't have the results.
Sometimes, you just emotionally "click" with a doctor.  I suspect I might "click" better with a female doctor.
Pros:  All lab work can be done on site.  The office people were very friendly once I was in the office.   Their other office is more conveniently located to me.  Transfer of records should go smoothly to any specialists in other Carolina Health offices.

I'd say it went...above average. The facility itself was plenty nice enough and they had a very nice waiting room. Exam rooms were clean and exactly what you'd expect. The Xray technician (Brandon I think his name was) and the gal working at the front desk were personable and nice. They were also VERY fast. I mean they weren't real busy when I was there anyway but the entire process of filling out initial paperwork prior to the appointment all the way to being done with Xrays and being done with the appointment took less than 1 hour.
The 1st "weird" thing was that when I made my appointment online, it was made with Dr. Ron Reynolds...but in reality I think I saw Dr. Ruta Rimkiene instead. Not that it really mattered...I didn't have a preference...just thought it was strange that I made an appointment with 1 doctor and then that's not who I actually saw. The nurse who took me back to the exam room/took down my basic info and the doctor herself could have been a bit more personable/could have had a better bedside manner. Don't get me wrong - they were fine...but there was very little conversation. Even with the doctor for the initial exam, she asked what I did, looked at my wrist/had me move it around a bit, and then just said "we need to get Xrays"...probably took less than 5 min. Didn't ask me about pain levels or anything like that. After the Xrays came back (which took less than 10min), she literally just stuck her head in the door, said "not broken...maybe just try ice and Advil"...and that was it...she was gone before I could even get up from my chair.
So all in all, I'd say it went fine - just not exceptional/nothing special. They were fast, clean, far more convenient than going to an ER (since it wasn't an emergency), and I got the basic services that I needed.

My appt was at 8 am, I wasn't seen until 8:40. I could understand if the office was busy but I was one of the first people in there. I waited for 40 minutes to speak to the dr, which took less than 5 minutes, and for them to tell me they couldn't help me. I think I'll take my business elsewhere.

I arrived for my appointment and advised the receptionist that I had an appt with Dr Turek and also had an order for blood work from a specialist. She checked and said I could have the lab work done. I was called in to see the doctor after waiting 1 1/2 hours. Nurse took my vitals and I waited another 1/2 hour for doctor. Visit took 15 minutes. As I left I asked the doctor about getting my lab work done and he advised me that the nurse who did the lab work had gone home and I would need to come back.

They are very good. Other Angie's List members should know that they should call and talk to them to see if they are taking new patients there. I found them by accident and they are real good. The office environment is fine, it is like a doctor’s office.

    Katalinich, Dr. Gery B
He was very thorough. He took plenty of time when I went to go see him and gave me lots of options that will go over in the next few weeks. He actually sent me to a physical therapist. So, I was very pleased. There was hardly any wait time and the office was fine. I am still doing his treatment right now. So far, it has been working well.
