Not a good experience at all. We hired Doug Waring and his crew to complete a project for us in the backyard. Price was great and they showed up on time. We really took care of the crew with drinks and snacks, etc as we appreciated their help in this project. After the installation was finished, the staining on the patio was very streaky, uneven, and had a ton of roller marks. We assumed that would go away as the concrete cured. A few days later, we noticed a geyser of water flowing out from underneath the patio. Affordable concrete had punctured an irrigation line with one of the stakes while pouring the concrete. I ended up spending about 2 hours of time running to the store, cutting and splicing the line, and reburying in 98 degree heat. I called Doug and he was initially apologetic. My water bill was crazy that month so I told him to just throw me $75 for the parts and the extra water- Pretty reasonable I think considering I could have hired someone to do it, and the parts alone were $20! He said OK and asked me to text after 7/4 holiday to arrange payment. Finally, after multiple texts he contacts me on 7/25, 3 weeks later. I tell him that the patio stain was still really bad looking and probably needed another coat to look ok. Doug tells me he would send someone over the weekend of 7/27 to fix it, but then asks me HOW MUCH AM I GOING TO PAY HIM? I said no sir, it wasn't right from the get-go and needs to be corrected with another coat of stain. He said ok no problem, he'd send someone over that weekend. I even sent him the pictures I posted in this review! He mailed me the check for the irrigation damage, but here we are 3 weekends later on 8/16 and no call, no show from Doug. Excuses don't cut it Doug, and customers don't like getting the run-around. If you want to make this right drop off a gallon of matching stain and the proper roller and Ill do it myself.

    Apex Contractors LLC
Apex Contractors did an outstanding job on our new home. The interior was completely redesigned. The exterior was updated with a large front porch. We also added a 1/2 bath, master bath, and master bedroom. Paul and crew were always professional. Apex worked very hard to keep this project within our time frame and budget. We would recommend Apex to anyone looking to update their home! Pictures coming soon

Ernesto was a God send to us. Prior to finding him, we lived in our home for two years with a water problem. We found out shortly after we moved in that there was an undisclosed water leak coming in the chimney area. Upon inspection, we learned that this problem had been there for years. There were several attempts at trying to repair the issue. I called over 20 contractors both roofers and masons or chimney folks. All of them finger pointed at the other, claiming it wasn't their problem. The truth is the chimney was not properly flashed from the very beginning. Ernesto was the first and only contractor who knew how to resolve the problem and who actually did a water test to see where the water was entering the house. His crew did a fabulous job of removing an area of stacked stone. They coordinated with a roofer to come and redo the flashing and then they replaced the stacked stone. No more ugly flashing on the outside of the chimney. No more leaks! Ernesto was a true pleasure to work with. He was on time, completed everything exactly as he said it would be done- a true professional. His employees were also incredibly knowledgeable as well as respectful. In fact, he even came back after 3 days, to water test. And even followed up after a big storm to make sure that we had no issues. I would rate Ernesto as the best contractor we have ever worked with.

    Charleston Remodeling Inc
Mark and his crew do outstanding work! Everything was done on time and on budget with the utmost professionalism. I was kept informed every step of the way. They made suggestions and offered options when I wasn't sure what I wanted to do in some areas. I believe that when I recommend a person or company it reflects on me also. I have no hesitation recommending Mark and Charleston Remodeling for any of their services.

    ACE Chimney
Ace showed up promptly at the scheduled time.  He was very clean and efficient in sweeping the chimney.  I knew of the existing cracks in the refractory panels.  He pointed them out and advised that they could be repaired with mortar.  He charged an additional $25 for the repair, which I felt was the right price for the job.  Overall, I was very please with Ace and will use him again for future chimney maintenance/repairs.

Sent an email requesting a quote and even followed up with a phone call after not hearing from anyone. Spoke to a very nice lady who took all my info. Was told I would hear from the roofing guy (last name of williford). Never heard from this company. Disappointing experience

    The Renovators Inc
Shannon Davidson and his partner Chris Hicks came highly recommended, so we thought we had a good contractor. The role of the GC is to make sure the work is done according to what was agreed upon at the time of contract. Unfortunately, not too long into the job, we discovered that we had a texting contractor who would rarely appear at the site to supervise his subs, but who could be counted on to show when he needed money. The job was no small job. It included a very large bluestone patio, an outdoor kitchen, pergola, fountain, and a total kitchen rip out and renovation inside. Since this contractor turned out not to be hands- on, we constantly had subs showing up unsupervised. This became quite problematic with the patio. The grouting was amateurish at best. They even laid the patio over our sprinkler system even though it was clearly marked. These things made it necessary to rip up a great deal of the grout and redo it, and it required fixing the sprinkler system and addressing a drainage issue ? one that should have been addressed before construction as we agreed on. Most things had to be redone 2 or 3 times. If I weren?t supervising the best I could, more of the job outside would have had to be redone. The outdoor kitchen had to be redone a couple of times due to incorrect measurements. The granite top had to be redone because a template was never made. The plumbing and electrical work constantly required additional visits due to mistakes or misunderstandings because we had no one on site overseeing the job etc.  These conditions lengthened the job considerably. The contractor made good on these corrections, but the inconvenience was immense. For the pergola, I was introduced to the carpenters who were going to build it, but they failed to show and new ones were sent. A load of wood was delivered and two guys showed up by themselves. I asked them how many pergolas they had built, and one of them admitted that he had experience with only one ? his personal one. The other gentleman had no experience building one. They were sent with no plans as well. I was asked by my contractor via text to give them a photo of what I wanted. Later, I was asked to trace out the shape of the ends of the beams directly onto the wood. I felt I had to be there all the time because of this lack of supervision of the subs.  I ended up researching and buying brackets for the pergola so I could end up with a pergola that was close to the one I showed to my contractor originally.  In the end, the pergola came out okay, but the patio floor was a huge disappointment (see photos), and there were structural problems with the outdoor kitchen. Grout covers most of the stones in many places, and generally looks sloppy.  Inside our house, similar problems were occurring. The lack of attention to detail, lack of supervision of subs, subs acting unprofessionally (complaining, voicing concerns about getting paid, and throwing fits) and missing cabinet components, made this as stressful as the outside work. I had sub contractors at my home on weekends and at night. Since nothing was covered, as agreed upon, the dust created a huge mess, and keeping my furnishings clean was almost impossible.  I made my displeasure known to this contractor over and over again about the texting, the problems on site, and the problems with some subs, but he failed to make any meaningful changes. It was found out during the job, that this contractor had 13 jobs going and my husband and I felt that our job ? although totaling almost $75,000 worth of work was not that important to him, or he was just spread too thin. The worst of it was not having the permits pulled for this job that we stressed from the beginning and insisted on throughout the job, only to finally give up in the end due to the lack of coordination of the time frame. I believe the plumbing work and electrical was done properly with my own supervision, but it was not what we agreed on and it generated much stress on my part.  The patio is requiring us to make costly repairs, and issues with the outdoor kitchen still haven?t been resolved. I had to hire a structural engineer, a new contractor, and have lost a lot of time dealing with these problems. Chris Hicks and Shannon Davidson have broken appointments, and basically misrepresented what they would do to remedy the situation. Avoid these guys.....

    Mount Valley Foundation Services
Todd called to confirm about half an hour before the appointment and showed up right on time. He was polite and straightforward. Did some visual inspection of the crack on the brick wall and offered reasonable and professional advice/recommendation. Overall a very pleasant experience with Todd.

    ACE Chimney
Technician provided cost of chimney over the telephone which was reasonable so I scheduled him to come next day.  He was on time, and went right to work.  He reported additional needs which I found to be very reasonable priced so I ordered the remortoring  of the crown and a stainless steel cap to replace the well worn, and worthy of another year's service cap.  He had not recommended the immediate replacement this year.,  I asked the technician if he could readjust the legs of the stove for me since
back surgery has impaired my lifting heavy items.  He gladly did this for me with no additional charges.
Technician cleaned up after himself and removed all debris from our property.
I would highly recommend Ace Chimney service.
