    The staff was really kind. Great bedside manner. They made me less nervous. Very comfortable environment considering the circumstances one is in there for. I had a billing question and the representative from that department was nice and responded immediately and I received my requested document in the mail that week.

    I came in in the middle of the night around 1am. All was calm and quiet. I was supposed to have my baby at Charleston Birth Place, but I was early- 36 weeks, 2 days. I had an overall wonderful experience, the staff didn't push too hard for interventions, and they left us mostly to ourselves with the exception of one nurse in the nursery. My baby was too small by 1 oz to not be monitored in the nursery for 24 hrs post birth. However, the delivery nurse had it approved twice by the on call ped that he could stay with us because he could regulate his own body temp. My husband went with our baby to have his blood tests do e and had to argue with the woman to keep our son in room. The woman was adamant that he couldn't take him back, but my husband is a health care provider himself and knows his rights. He told her he'd sign anything she wanted, but our baby wasn't staying and walked out. The only other con is that I was never assessed by a lactation consultant while nursing. I had a lot if latch issues, and it would've been nice for them to address those early on bc I didn't know any better as a new mother. Other than that, it was great!

    My visit went very well. The doctor asked me many questions and gave me a test in the office to rate the level of my balance. He referred me to an ENT for further testing to rule out the possibility of an inner ear problem.

    I feel the doctor was very thorough in his examination. He spent a lot of time asking me questions, and administering a test of my balance. I feel this doctor has lead me in the right direction to get to the bottom of my problem.

    Called trying to get information on a particular medicine I needed. The person on the phone was rude, and not very interested in giving me much information, on how to obtain it, or if there was another generic drug similar to that drug, I could take.

    It went ok. Communication was generally helpful, but agents on the phones were not very friendly. I had a lot of questions and was unsure of my coverage, etc. After being on hold for a while, my calls were answered.

    My experience is that BCBS has the most comprehensive network in the area and benefits equal or exceed the alternatives. As will all insurers, there is a lot to be desired when it comes to coverage amounts on certain benefits. We have a had a few scenarios where we have been required to spend a lot of effort to correct benefit processing errors which were not a result of the providers filed claim, but rather internal issues at BCBS (They attempted to cancel benefits due to mix up with a past cancelled policy from a previous employer-although the claim was filed with the current policy and ID)

    I am glad to have the medical coverage because I am certain if I had a catastrophic accident BCBS would take care of me. The problem is that it is difficult to have an affordable policy with a reasonable deductible. My deductible is $3500 and last year I had two surgeries and several doctors visits that totaled $3400 out of pocket. It does feel that the fee coverage offered by BCBS may be adjusted to keep the patient out of reach of meeting the deductible. I do have confidence in the company to cover my needs in general.

    I called and got a quote for a few different types of insurance.  The price was higher than I could afford.  Ended up going elsewhere to get the insurance.  The representative was very nice and knowledgeable .  Seemed like a company that we be responsive, just the the pricing wasn't in line for me.  I would use them again if I need insurance.

    The baby ward is wonderful. The nurses were great and attentive. The facility is still new feeling and lots of room. Each room felt like a nice hotel room. Only downside is the sleeper for husbands. It is so uncomforable, but the husbands can deal with it. Wouldn't hesitate to go back to East Cooper Medical Center. So much better than the old one.
