    AAA Quality Building
Crew showed up in the morning and completed the entire project in 1 day. David brought in a couple crews to get our project done. They were very professional and organized. There was a new hone construction next door and the workers there were in awe of how efficient David and his crew were.

    AAA Quality Building
Dave came out very promptly to provide a design and estimate. Once we finalized the design and price they scheduled us in very quickly. Within a very short time, our unique storage shed was put up. The craftsmanship is excellent and after they started they promptly finished the entire job in 1-1/2 days. All of the staff were very professional, polite and grateful for the work. The group look very organized and it was clear they knew what they were doing. They finished, cleaned up the entire area and thanked me for the opportunity. Their great quality and solid service made me feel great about my purchase.

    AAA Quality Building
My experience with them went fine and I didn't have any problems with them. The speed with which they worked, they were able to complete the project in less than a day. I thought the quality of the structure was pretty good for the price. I think their pricing was reasonable. They were right on schedule.

    The Hogarty Group LLC
Derek Hogarty went 200 hours over budget on demo and framing.  So he essentially got his money up front., but the way he did the billing, we had no way of lining things up to get a budgeted vs actual test.  The estimate was not done in good faith (we have documentation of the brick mason being told to cut the number of bricks needed in half on his estimate in order to get the bud, but then when they of course ran out of bricks, we had to pay another delivery charge).  The budget was off on several things which ended up costing us money because of extra delivery fees, delays waiting on materials, etc.
Poor framing, lack of oversight by him has resulted in us moving into a house that was barely livable.
    1.  It  had no insulation in the attic (even though it passed code somehow???).
    2. Sheetrock had to be torn out with framing and doors having to be replaced because of warped wood.
    3. Electrical lines were cut so we had no stove\oven or really working kitchen for 2 weeks.
    4. Plumbing wasn't finished (no sinks in bathrooms, etc) and we still don't have running water outside the house.
    5. The walls were NOT PAINT READY as the contract stipulated.
6, There were gaps with the hardwood floors meeting up the baseboards that were so big the quarter round would not cover it.
    7. It was so bad, we had subcontractors showing up at our doors wanting their money because Derek wasn't responding to them.  WE HAD NO IDEA THERE WERE OUTSTANDING INVOICES as we thought people we being paid.
    8. When we realized how much he had screwed everything up and the money was gone, we still needed a very small deck built for our daughter's wheelchair lift (among other things that we are doing ourselves now).  Since he took all our money, we borrowed what we needed for materials and told him he had 3 days to build it himself and he couldn't do it.  This was in the original budget, this was supposed to have been done well in advance of other things.
    9.  We repeatedly asked for budget updates of actual vs. budgeted, but we would get verbal updates which were nothing more than guesses on his part and apparently he failed first grade math.  His excuse to us what that he wasn't a CPA.

He went waaay over budget and did not meet deadlines and we never got a change order for anything.  Basically the cost plus agreement leaves the owner with no recourse.  A "cost plus" contract isn't worth the paper it is written on.  Come to find out his license got revoked during the project  for another judgement and we never knew it.  I checked before he started, but didn't think I would have to keep checking.

Derek Hogarty in MY OPINION is a liar, a con artist, and a thief and at best he is grossly incompetent.  I wouldn't trust him to build a dog house. It is going to take us decades to recover from this if we ever do and the time it has taken away from our family we will NEVER GET BACK.

    Chisolm Restoration
This experience started out professional.  He was referred to use by a friend.  He had done some painting work in their kitchen and did a great job, but it was over a year in the past.  When he came to the house he was very professional, eager to work, and was ready to start immediately.  He said he would go above and beyond the call of duty for the same price to make everything look amazing.  He required 50% down payment to cover supplies.  He was paid the next morning and began work immediately and stated that he would have the enitre job completed in 48 hours.  When the 48 hours was over all he had done was half sand a door and painted over it leaving a horribly noticable uneven surface.  He asked how I thought his painted was, and told him that the door was not sanded properly and looked horrible. He said he would resand it for free (when the sanding and painting of the door was included in the estimate).  When I asked him why nothing else was done he said that he couldnt find any siding that would match.  He said he finally found some in columbia and would need an additional $150 to cover the cost of the drive and to pay for someone to help me.  After I gave him the check, he said he found some in north charleston.   He got the correct siding and then proceeded to put it on the building.  He ended up cutting one of the sides an inch too short and tried to cover it up by smooshing the corner piece flat to cover it.  He said the corner piece looked like that because it was built wrong,  still trying to hide the siding mess up. Then the eaves that he had put up were vinyl eaves that did not match the metal eaves that were on the house that he was supposed to copy.  The eaves were also bent at the wrong spot so they hung an inch lower than the actual eave.  The edging at the top of the vinyl siding was not smooth and had small chucks taken out of it from not being cut properly. Then when he was shown all the problems that were wrong with it and showed that it did not mimic the siding and look of the house as he was asked 3 times during the proposal that he could indeed match everything exaclty!  Then he demands 68 more dollars to cover the expense of the metal eaves.  I told him that he was already given $150 extra to drive to and from columbia to get the siding when you then found it in north charleston.  So he had more than enough money to cover the expense of the metal eaves that were originally quoted in the proposal.   He continued to call over and over yelling at my husband and i and demanding the $68 dollars to continue work.  I said fix all the mistakes you have already made and then we will talk about the $68.   All of this was drug out over almost 2 weeks.  Needless to say the entire experience was a disaster, nothing got fixed, and I was out $450. Stay away from this contractor! Don't let him fool you too!

    The Renovators Inc
Being new to the Charleston area we relied on Angie's List and word of mouth references to hire contractors. Shannon and the crew from The Renovators were our choice to build a deck on the back of our home and it was the right one. The crew was punctual, neat and made it clear they would do whatever was neccessary to make certain we were happy. The deck is beautiful. It's solid, looks really nice and we feel certain it won't have to be replaced or repaired for a very very long time. (probably not in our lifetime!) Shannon was the ultimate professional when he came to give us a quote and I was especially happy that there was no pressure to go "bigger and better." The crew arrived on time, worked hard and didn't take a lot of breaks. They were really friendly and seemed to be genuinely concerned that they weren't causing much disruption for us. I would highly recommend them for any home repair work, deck building, remodeling etc. We're going to use them again in the very near future to do more work on the inside of our home. You'll be happy with this crew, I guarantee it!Jim and Debby Willis

    Dakota Builders Inc
We were very happy with the price, the results and the responsiveness of Mr. Doss. He was helpful in advising us along the process and he was careful to complete the job without any complaints from the neighbors in the building. The workmanship was top notch and he quickly took care of any details to finish out the job. I would highly recommend him for any remodel jobs, or new construction.

    Kelly Builders Carolina LLC
Pat Kelly is great to work with and he provides good advice during the design and execution phase. Unlike other contractors I have worked with, the quality does not stop once the job begins. Pat's team is top notch. They are professional, courteous, timely, and all very talented at there specialities.

During the master bath redo, I was on business travel for four weeks and trusted Pat and his team to work on the bathroom in my absence. We worked well together via phone and email when needed.

I just met with Pat to start planning a third job. I recommend Kelly Builders without reservation!

    First John llc Remodeling/Repairs
We are extremely pleased with the results. The finished product is solid, massive, and well-built. Fit and finish are appropriate, and the thing is an improvement to the property that will be here generations from now. John was facilitative in working in a small project like this. He was creative with the design, suggesting an understory deck as part of the structure that we now enjoy very much, yet very practical, helping us keep our design constructable and reasonably priced. John agreed to a fixed price and met his commitments. He also worked hard to keep our aggressive schedule. His carpenter Paul executed much of the work - he knows his trade and "gets on with it", yet is a pleasure to have around (our kids were watching closely as you can imagine.) John and Paul both kept things neat and cleaned up daily. We received excellent value for money. I recommend First John's service to you highly, and will invite him back to do future work with confidence.

    ROBERT'S HANDYMAN SERVICE
I have known him for five years. He did a really good job. The best thing I liked about him was that he was very punctual. His prices were very competitive; it was in-line or better than the most other companies. He was very reliable. I spent around $4000 for the tile work. The remodeling work probably cost me another $3000 or $4000. I?ll definitely use him again in the future.
