Drywall reviews in Moncks Corner

Holy City Painting & Drywall, LLC
Horrible from the start. I should have stuck with my gut when they would not get back in touch with me with the quote right away. The first appointment to view the job I had to text him and he said he could not make it out due to a weekly child's Dr appointment that he forgot about. Said would come out next day to quote and give me good deal for missing appointment. Said he lived real close and could get it done quick. He was an hour late the next day to quote. After a month of nothing, I finally emailed him thru Angie's list in hopes to get a response. I was reading review's on here and it seemed he did good work if you could get him out. First, he did not remember the job, then I got a quote for everything in my email. I agreed to quote and asked when they could come out in the email. I got a call that afternoon (a Monday at about 6:15pm) and said they could do it the next day and be done in two days. I agreed. I tore my dining room apart, moving all the furniture out the way, pulling up the carpet, etc. I am a single mom working full time, I could not be there while the job was being done so I had my mom meet him and let him in to work, etc. He wanted a check up front for half amount and would be at the house at 9am. Tuesday - He didn't show up until after 10 and showed up with nothing so he had to turn right around and leave to get materials to do the job. He apparently had to re-measure, etc. or something. He left his cousin, to prep the walls, etc. I stopped by during my lunch hour (between 12-1pm)and showed the cousin the green board I wanted in an area that had prior water damage just to keep the possibility of mold out of the equation. He agreed to do it and said easy enough. (my green board was 1/2in and they use 1/4in) Note: the cousin is allergic to dogs, so if you have inside pets, DO NOT use these guys. They left by 4 and were gone by the time I got off work. When I came back home after work, I noticed the green board was put out on my porch and they did not use. Wednesday - They got there between 8-8:15, my mom asked them about the green board and they said it was not needed. I then took off work again at lunch and came home to question why the board was not used I asked for and the cousin literally threw his hands up and told me to go talk to the other. I asked him and he said he would cut out and put up, he said he thought it was an idea, not that I wanted it. I guess, me saying I want this board there, and putting the board in the room was not clear for them. Also discussed not putting up rock on the existing closets so walls are level and molding is easier on us, we agreed to that. They were again gone before I got home. However, I went to throw some household trash in my trash can and they had half filled up my trash can with their debris from the job. IT IS IN THE CONTRACT that they would haul off the trash, etc. (apparently they thought I would not notice). Thursday - The cousin did not show up, only the owner and he was only there for maybe three hours. Said cousin was too sick to come. **I had a flat tire today, it was a screw. Once I got home this evening, I ended up finding 7 screws total left adrift in my drive way and porch. Friday - my mother again was at my house at 8am and they never showed. She started calling them at 10/10:30 and the excuses started. First, the owner had lost the phone numbers to call, then it was a Dr's appointment that he forgot about, then it was he needed another part for his sander and had to order it, then asked if he could come in evening when I got home to get a check and finish. He was told no, due to daughters soccer game, etc. and no one home so he said he would call right back. He called her back quickly and said he found the part to the sander and would pick it up on Rivers Ave and head to my house. He was only there for an hour and left again. Saturday - He came over again in the afternoon and asked about check and job. I pointed out that he did not paint the ceiling in the living area as in the contract and agreed and he said he forgot. He said for the trouble he would prime the dining room as well. I paid him an extra 200 over the contract price to paint the bathroom walls and ceiling in dining room and I provided the paint. He DID NOT paint the living room ceiling as in the contract, the paint job on the ceiling in the dining room was so blotchy that I have put two paints on after them to try and even it out. The grey that he painted in the bathroom was so horribly done that I see brush strokes around the mirror/vanity/etc. Runs in the paint and paint on molding around door and on door knob. They also scratch the back of the door so bad that it is down to the wood. He even painted my floor molding vs taping it off. There was paint drops/blobs all over the tub, floor, sick, and toilet that I have been trying to scrub off. He said he would come back the following Wednesday to finish and do other small jobs that we were discussing I needed done. Needless to say he has not bother to get back in contact with me. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. A two day job turned into 5 days and it was never finished. The quality was very poor as I have painted the dining room walls with three coats and you can see areas they touched up on the walls still standing out. They were suppose to (their idea) mud a beam in front of the dining room so that it was paint ready and it looks just horrible. Job was not done smooth and the back and bottom of beam was covered without removing any molding as he originally said. I am going to have to spend money on someone else to cut that out and do something different due to the crappy work. For a company to have such high reviews on Angie's list, I find it very hard that this is the work he gets away with. Maybe it is an example of guys taking advantage of a single female, I don't know, but what I do know is that I will not use them nor probably anyone else on Angie's list as this seems very unreliable information. I also hope to get pictures uploaded to this review so everyone can see exactly what they left my house looking like. Including mud in my carpet, stuck to my tile, etc. I would also like to point out that they use very cheap material. They only use the 1/4in drywall, etc.

    Paragon Painting
Was promptly contacted by owner and within days we had an appointment scheduled to receive and estimate. Received very professional estimate within a couple days laying out expectations they had for us, licensing information, detailed estimate of work to be performed. Very reasonable price given the amount of area we were requesting. We scheduled the start of work approximately 30 days after contract agreement. We are firm believers that you get what you pay for and took their professional scheduling as a good sign as their services were in high demand across the low country. We were not at all disappointed in the final results. Each day they cleaned up after themselves (Keep in mind how messy popcorn removal from a ceiling is), flaws in the ceiling that were seen even with the popcorn were corrected via tape, mudding, sanding and are no longer recognizable after a perfectly prepared surface was painted. We saw no signs of brush marks from painting or lines from the sanding of the ceiling, the corners and edges against the wall were cleaned up and even caulked. We had no issues with any mess or material found on our hardwood floors as all areas were properly tapped and covered. The entire process took roughly a week to complete. We had vaulted ceilings (Close to 15' I'm guessing in our living room and 10' in our MBR) and they look awesome now. Overall we could not be any happier with the results and we were thoroughly impressed with the professionalism, cleanliness, responsiveness and final product this company completed for us. Highly recommend you contact them for a quote. You will not be disappointed.

    HIS Handiwork LLC
Just one professional, hard working, family man.  I would highly recommend him in a flash.  He was very responsive to my situation. After the 1000 year rain, I developed a rood leak which incurred drywall repair and paint. I was hard pressed to find anyone to make the repairs because everyone was tied up on bigger jobs.  Ross made the time to take care of me. His quote was very professional and right on target. I thought his work was high quality and he did a good job cleaning up during and after the work. I worked in customer service for almost 20 years and Ross handled the job like I would have done.

    Barney's Home Repairs
I live in Virginia and was in Moncks Corner for just 5 days to get my rental home ready for new tenants.  I used Angie's List to find a general contractor / handy man service.  I contacted a few different places, but Barney?s Home Repair responded right away.
He was very busy, but realizing my tight schedule, he was able to meet me the day I arrived, and assured me he could get everything done in time for the new renters.
I have never had a better experience in 40 years of home ownership.   Mr. Willis is very professional, competent, and easy to talk to.  I was completely confidant that his estimates were accurate and that he gave me good advice on priority of tasks to be done.
He has since worked with the new tenants to take care of some additional minor issues, and I am very grateful to have his service.  I have peace of mind knowing he is on-call and will make sure to keep my property in tip-top shape.

They were prompt and clean. I have nothing bad to say about them. They were nice, polite, and let us know what they were doing along the way. They made sure we liked it before they left. They asked me where I wanted things. The bathroom looks great. He was always on time. I am going to have them come back to do some woodworking in our house.
