    The Balanced Body Shoppe
This is a small business and the owner, Sandi, and her staff are very personable. Each time i call or I am seen, the session is all about me and whatever physical issues I am having. They take time to listen to what my needs are and where I hurt the most. They make recommendations of natural supplements and if necessary they will suggest you seek medical attention.
My average session lasts one hour and is completely private and professional. I feel so relaxed when i leave. The therapist will start me face up and massage my upper body first and concentrating on my neck and arms. I am covered at all times with a sheet except for the extremety that is being worked on. When she is finished with my legs and feet, I roll over and she will work on my back, shourlders, gluts and finish with my calfs.
There are 4 massage therapists that have different schedules to best accommodate a client's schedule. Each therapist has her own treatment room and is expereinced in various techniques from sweedish massage to deep tissue to medi-cupping. Each therapist is liscened in SC and the owner was once a member of the SC certification board. She sets high standards of treatment and professionalism for her staff.
The shoppe also has a small retail area that sells supplements, personal care items and novelty gifts such as relaxation CDs and wind chimes.

    Tollison, Dr. Michael E
He is very good. He's like one of the top foot specialist in the upstate area of North Carolina. He is very thorough and really knows what he's doing. He's not real talkative. He's very business-like but when you're dealing with your feet and your ability to walk, you kind of want somebody who is all business there and so I kind of appreciate that about him regarding getting down to business. You have to have a lot of MRIs and x-rays so you don't want to have to sit around and chit chat for 15 minutes and delay getting those x-rays done. You get hustled in and then you get down to x-ray and get that done and then by the time you come back practically they already have your x-rays ready for the doctor to come in and read it for you to tell you what's going on. He's very good about telling you what your options are. Unfortunately there has never been a lot he could do for me, in the future probably he will have to do some form of surgery on me unless they come up with a miracle cure in using cartilage. He's very honest and clear cut with giving your options and telling you what you need to do to minimize pain and to keep you on your feet as long as you can. He's a very good doctor, I wouldn't go around blowing whistles and throwing some story about him or anything, he's my favorite doctor in the world but he's good, he's very good on what he does and I wouldn't let anybody else touch my feet either. He is the best that there is in this area and I've had quite a few doctors tell me that so I trust the doctors who had sent me to him and told me that I trust them and their recommendations and I can tell that he is very intelligent and he knows what he's doing and so I trust that and I will continue going there and he will be in charge on my feet in like forever, he's good on what he does. He's very easy to get appointments with.

    Jennings Jr, Dr. James E
He was great. He went in orthoscopically to see what the best course of treatment. He did some orthoscopic surgery to go in and see what the actual injury was, what was entailed and everything and what he thought would be the best course of treatment and so I had a few interaction with him with that and he did a really good job with the orthoscopic surgery. I don't feel like he gave me the best course of treatment because I had to do it all over again, I would have had the reconstruction that he advised me at that time, I was 35 and he said "For a 35-year old housewife, I wouldn't suggest that you would have the reconstructive surgery but if you were Michael Jordan or somebody who are still living with their knees then I would say have it but for a 35-year old housewife, I don't see where it would really give you that much of an edge," or whatever but it has really hampered my ability to do anything when I had my ACL there and I can twist my leg and fall, and I can't twist it at all, I haven't been able to do a lot of exercise that I used to be able to do like tennis, aerobic dancing, I can wear a brace and do it but it's a huge terminator looking braces. It's not worth putting that thing on to do these things and it doesn't really help much so if I had to do it all over again and really 35, when you're about to turn 57, 35 ain't that old and the way he was talking about it when he said that I'm 35 and being a housewife and didn't need that surgery, if I know now I would have said "You know what, 35 is still young, there is still a lot of living to do". After the age of 35, I would have insisted on the surgery to fix it. He's a good doctor though and a lot of people who have had reconstruction with him say that he did a marvelous job, he did it on my mother and she had a great experience with him and he's got a great personality and very easy to work with but I did feel like he gave me some bad advice. I feel like he could have done the reconstruction, I would have been better off in the long run.

    Lucas III, Dr. S Emmett
He's got a really good personality and a good sense of humor. He's doing all he can do given the problems that I have with the bone fractures but I feel like I walk out of there and all I've gotten from it is that I've been told that I have the fractures which I already knew when I walked in and nothing's been done to correct them. All I get is if we do corrective surgery it might cause other vertebrae to collapse and we don't want that to happen and that's true. It's probably not his fault at all, it's probably just the fact that I'm frustrated with the situation. I just kind of feel like he kind of comes in and looks at the MRIs and x-rays and says it is what it is and there's not a whole lot you can do about it. and then I'd leave with nothing for pain, no suggestions for exercises or anything I can do for the pain or whatever but I don't feel like I get a whole lot out of the visit. He's a spinal surgeon and he's never even recommended taking a look or going in for exploratory purposes to see if there is anything that can be done so I feel kind of ambivalent about him because he's very likable and I'm sure he's very knowledgeable as well but on the other hand I don't feel like I get a lot of assistance I guess or a lot of help from him. It could be that there's nothing he can do and I just have to accept that but sometimes you just kind of wish that he would say "Well, we could try this and see how it works" or maybe he'd done surgery from my very first fracture then the other fractures wouldn't have occurred.

Massage Envy Spa - Verdae Village
I arrived just before my appointed time and was greeted by the front staff. They took me into a waiting room and offered water while I waited for my appointment. Very nice room with music playing, good place to wait. Right on time the masseuse arrived and took me in
treatment room which was very nice and clean. The massage was excellent. He found all the right sore spots that I didn't even know I had. Very relaxing. I will return to this business for future massages.

The daycare director did not offer a tour of the facility, and when I left she told some employees how I was less of a mother because I didn't ask for a tour.
