    Palmetto Enclosure
We absolutely love our new porch! The whole experience with palmetto enclosure was great. Their price beat everyone elses by half. The crew was fast, professional, and made sure everything was just right.

    Palmetto Enclosure
This was one of the best experiences we have ever had with projects we have had others to do. When he came to give us an estimate, David was punctual and had so many great ideas. He was very patient as we, mainly I, tried to make up our minds. We decided to have a screened porch added to our house over a brick patio we had just had built. There was nothing there so they built the screened porch from the ground up adding a ceiling and roof. David also added ceiling fans and electrical outlets for us. The work was started the day he told us he would start it AND exactly on time. The men who did the work were excellent as well. I never saw them take a break, rest, or stand around. They were two of the hardest working guys I have ever seen (outside of my husband). It has been almost 2 years and we are still extremely happy with our breezeway. It is my favorite part of our home. Even in the winter we sit out there a lot. During the Spring, Summer and Fall we eat almost all our meals there. I have recommended him to friends, and they have been extremely happy, too, with his work and his work ethics. Every time I enjoy my screened porch I pray for extra blessings for David and his workers. Thank you for a job very well done.

    Tru Renovations
Gabe Baker showed up and was very professional, I explained what I wanted, he let me know what the possibilities were as far as lumber decking or brick. He told me he would get back to me in a couple days with a quote including materials and labor. The next day he gave me a quote of $1100 for material and said he would do the labor for $350 for the lumber and $600 for the brick. I told him I would see if I could come up with the $1450 for the lumber deck. He told me that he would contact me again Monday and see if he could come up with a better deal, knowing I am a single mom with 5 children. Monday came and I received several text from Gabe as seen below from the pictures of my messages on my phone. He flat out told me that he would charge me for materials and would take off the $350 for labor if I would spend an hour with him. Being a lady I thought there is no way he is asking what I think he is asking, he seemed very professional so I asked, what do you mean spend an hour with you? Do you mean going over the plans for the deck, I can do that? He replied saying when and where. I said, you pick I have an appointment tomorrow at 9:30 but I am free after that. He said your place good? I said, sure that way I can visualize what ever plans you might come up with better. He said will your kids be home? This of course struck me as a little odd but again I thought, he probably wants to keep things professional and make sure we are not alone which is exactly the kind of woman I am so I replied and said, yep they will be home. To which he replied, I don't think we are on the same page. confused I said, I'm very blunt for a woman so why don't you just spell it out for me. And then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I am not unintelligent but I sometimes see more good in people than there really is obviously and give too much benefit of the doubt. So I said, Do you mean meet you for ***? To which he began apologizing for his asking and admitting that he was out of line and then said, just go with the original price I gave you plus the $350 labor, but if you refer me to someone else I will give you $500 off the price. I was so upset and angry at this point that I didn't reply at all. He texted and asked, do you still want me to do the job? I replied No thank you. Its all in the text conversation below. I wanted to let people know about this because there is just absolutely no excuse for this kind of belittling garbage and its not okay to get away with it at all. A couple hours later I had to ask becasue it had insulted me so badly, and no real man would degrade a woman to this extent so I had to ask a pig such as he to attempt to find understanding. Why was I in your mind classified as the kind of woman you solicate for prostitution, because you flat out offered me money in exchange for *** with that request, rather than being seen as the kind of woman you respect and take home to meet your mom? he replied that he was attracted to me and his "cave man" instincts kicked in. Seriously?? My 18 year old son asked me.. what should he have done instead if he really liked you? To which I told him, as a professional you stay focused on your job rather than your desires so it should have just been a note of attraction in his mind and nothing else said but if he really was attracted to me and wanted anything more than just a one night stand, he should have given me a fair quote, done the job and did it well, then when the job was complete and the transaction was finished, he could have simply said, I was wondering if there if by any chance you would be interrested in going out to dinner with me so I can get to know you a little better? That way I had the chance to let him know if I am available or interested in him as well and we could have gone from there or I would have told him I am flattered but I am really not interrested but thank you. To which he could have simply said I completely understand I just didnt want to regret not asking later incase you were, I wish you the best and we both go about our business. My son agreed that would have been a much more professional and gentlmanly way to approach the situation. No matter what, this is the most disgusting degrading way to approach a woman and it is beyond sexual harrassment. This man now knows where I live, he violated my place of solitude and degraded my character as a strong independant woman who has worked my whole life to provide for my children and it should not be tolerated. Now you are informed of ust the kind of man who is offering to do "quality work" for you. Husbands be warned of leaving him alone with your wives to do work, and woman be warned of the kind of man you may intend to be hiring for work. Be safe.

    Gage Construction LLC
I'm having trouble even coming up with words to describe how beautiful of a job Matt, PJ and the crew with Gage construction have done with our fixer-upper in Lexington. We renovated a 40 year old ranch that was in serious need of a facelift and we definitely chose the right guys for the job. Appointments were kept, as were promises. The quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail is second to none. The transformation of this home was simply jaw-dropping. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. It feels like we are living in one of the houses from HGTV. Simply blown away.

    The Improvement Co
Overall, we are extremely happy with the result. There were a few issues along the way with sub-contractors, but Dan had all of them corrected in very short order. The length of the job/timing of services was adequate. Dan was professional throughout the project. I would definitely recommend The Improvement Company to others.

    Millennium Home & Yard Improvements
I called James from Millenium based on the good reviews he received on the Internet and the work pictured on his Facebook page. He was on time for our initial meeting and gave me a lot of feedback on pavers and design. We scheduled a time to do the work and he was prompt and ready to go. As the work was proceeding I realized that I wanted it to be larger. James was gracious with accommodating my change which required him to order more pavers causing a days delay in the work. The finished project is beautiful and I've had a lot of compliments. I did need to call James about a week after the work was completed because one of the pavers was chipped and another was uneven. He came and replaced both. I will be using James for more home improvements in the future.

Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Columbia
They did a very good job. Everything turned out like they said it would. Primarily it was on technician doing the installation. The installation process took about 3-4 weeks because one piece had to be special ordered after the installation had already started.

    Window Masters Plus
He gave us an honest price, he was very thorough in his explanation, if there was something wrong, he would fix it, and he did a great job. We're enjoying the sun room he did for us. The quality was very good. They cleaned up after themselves. If he was going to be late or something was going on, if he was stuck somewhere, he would most definitely call. He was very good in responding and everything else. Very professional.

    JAB Construction, Inc.
He was asked to match the height of the floors and ceilings of the rest of the house. After the sheet rock was up it became apparent that the ceiling was several inches too high to become the 90 degree corner of the junction of the wall and ceiling. His "fix" was to cut out some of the ceiling joists to allow the "too high" ceiling could continue enough to reach the wall.
The floor was 3/4" too low to match the height of the rest of the house. When I told him the floor needed another 3/4" and he added a layer of 3/4" plywood ,which he added to our bill with labor, as an add on. I think he should have included the plywood because he missed the height of the floor in the first place.
The area where the new floor meets the existing was left very rough and a gap of 11/2" wide and 24" long was left unfinished. I had to arrange for someone to finish rough areas and the gap before the flooring could be installed. The flooring was not included in the quote. He did not install any baseboards which I thought he should have also included.
There was another door with water damage. The repair was to be included in the project from the start. When I asked him why it wasn't mentioned in the contract he said he intended to just throw it in. I had to remind him that it still needed repair. He added on the rotten wood repair at $600 which included a new door and frame. I reminded him that he was to "throw in" the door repair but he insisted that that didn't include a door and that he planned only to replace the rotten siding. If he missed the fact that it would need a new door, it was not because of anything we did. I told him to never mind the door repair and he wanted me to pay for the door he had ordered at $300.
There was a misunderstanding over who was to pay for the siding. Looking back, he asked me about the siding, I thought he meant " was it available" and I said "yes right up at Lowes." He apparently thought I was going to provide it. When it came up he asked if I wanted him to get the siding and I answered yes. I couldn't imagine why he would not automatically get it. When I saw the final bill he had added in $300 for the siding. I asked why so much and he said he had bought 8 sheets Which was over double what was needed.
When it was all said and done, we felt like he had charged premium prices but delivered only mediocre quality and didn't really finish the job. His multiple add-ons seemed like a scam/trick to get more money.

Regarding the response from JAB Construction
I disagree with the accuracy several of his statements.

    Gage Construction LLC
W e selected Gage Construction after getting four estimates to convert a deck to a screened porch. We were impressed with Matt's professionalism, honesty, and attention to detail. While all bids were close, Matt's bid  was the lowest by a slight margin. His professionalism {and great reviews on Angie's list) won us over.
Matt and his fine crew did not disappoint us! Matt handled all permits and inspections. The deck was demolished and the flooring was enlarged, reinforced with steel beams since the porch is considerably elevated, and a month later we have a lovely screened porch with vaulted ceiling. I love it.  Matt and James gave great advice and suggestions, while listening closely to our desires and vision..Safety and quality were always placed first, and building codes were explained so that we could understand. Matt seems to have high standards and expectations, and we were grateful for that. He did not accept "good enough". For example, the roof shingles originally selected by the roofers for the porch roof did not match as well as expected. He and James did not hesitate to talk to us about it - before we even brought it up. They were removed and replaced with a closer match that we all agreed upon. Great result.
Communication was excellent throughout the process. Matt was always responsive and timely, and quick to communicate any schedule changes. We really felt he provided excellent customer service as well as a quality product, and did so within the promised time frame. He was willing to have his crew add in a few extras that were outside the original bid for a  reasonable additional charge- such as some replacement boards and deck lighting for our existing deck.
Overall, we could not be more pleased with our choice of  Matt, James and those who work with/for them. We love our new porch!!! We will definitely consider using Gage Construction for future projects and would highly recommend them to others.
