Siding reviews in Lexington

Barrs Woodworking gave me a quote I loved, and we started working together right away. Got the fence and siding fixed up in a few days and looks great! I cant even tell where the siding came off the house at all! Owner was pleasant to deal with and kept me in the loop each step of the way.

Very happy does not even begin to describe how we felt about the job Tim and his crew did. He was always here on time and would keep us posted each week on what days he would be here. Tim was also very good about returning phone calls. We had several companies give us a price for the same services and his prices were the most fair. We had 25 windows replaced and the wood around each window frame wrapped. He did an excellent job and the windows are so very efficient. We can already see a difference in our electric bill. He also installed two exterior door units. We are very pleased with the job he did on installing them. We changed out our wooden porch rails for rails we did not ever have to paint. They are beautiful and again he and his crew did a great job. We have a wrap around porch that is high off the ground. We also have a split steps going up to the porch. The wood had rotted on some of the steps and he replaced and painted the steps also. We are so very happy with the job he did on these. He also replaced the siding inside our screened porch. It looks so much better with the new siding. Tim is a very honest person and did extra things for us that he just noticed needed to be done. He was always responsive and the quality of his work is exceptional. We will definitely use him again for any work we need done.

    Larry M Dennis Home Improvement
The two categories where Larry failed MISERABLY are A. Professionalism B. Responsiveness. Granted, he may not treat you like he did me, and to be honest, I would guess like any other product/service, poor service in ANY area goes unnoted. Either way, here's my story... I called the company after seeing favorable reviews online. I noted that to the individual who took the call and let her know I needed work done on our home. She took my name/contact information & stated s/one would be in touch. She indicated that once s/one comes out, they then provide a written estimate either by way of an email, or snail mail. I thought that was awesome, and Larry (owner and founder), followed up with me w/I a day I believe. Larry called and we set a time for him to come to the home that was 2-3 days out. He knew right where we lived, as he did a very small job on one of the homes in our neighborhood...he replaced the wood siding on 2 dormers, and a portion of a chimney that extends beyond the roof line. On the evening before our appointment, Larry asked if he could come by earlier than what we planned as they had a death in the family and he was needed to come sooner so he could tend to matters later in the afternoon. That worked fine, as my schedule allowed for me to be home early. By the way, Larry is VERY cordial...VERY easy to speak with, and so this is nothing to do with his personality, demeanor or people "skills". This review will rate his professionalism, or should I say LACK of professionalism, which ties in with his responsiveness...ugh, his LACK thereof should I say. We will be replacing our old clap board siding, so when Larry got here, I met him outside as we walked around the house. I pointed out a few areas that would need to be replaced prior to the work. He of course said w/ever price we were quoted, that the rotten wood replacement would be an additional cost...that's to be expected I told him. I said I might consider the cement board, but would want the pre-finished product, and not the primed panels. Larry said it is a bit more expensive for the pre-finished due to having to face nail the panels every so often, and he also said the joints with caulk are much more noticeable. He said he did the unfinished cement board on their offices I believe...had it painted, and it looks as good as the day it went up! Not a problem for me necessarily, other than I told him I would then have to pay to have it painted as soon as it was installed, and that would be an added expense, AND I didn't want paint drips on my new shingled home. Larry said, "No problem...I've got a little red wagon that comes behind me (referring to his son), and my son can come back with me in a few days so he can see the job and price out that portion of the work should we have cement board installed, versus the vinyl. A/ways... After we walked/talked a bit, I invited Larry into our home as it was a good bit cooler, and I had some pictures I snipped from online to let him see how I wanted the corners done, and possibly around the windows as well. Again...Larry was very personable and pleasant to speak with. After standing for a few minutes and reviewing the pictures I had for him, we sat in a chair, and Larry on the sofa. I also pointed to a video on Youtube where they were installing the CertainTeed vinyl, and I told him this is where I snipped the pictures from. He noted, "Those guys are good! They've been doing it for a long time." I said, "Well I hope so...they're CertainTeed installers, and they're doing it for the video, but I'm sure you'll do just as good of a job." :) Before he left as we stood at his truck in our driveway, Larry again spoke of the funeral they were to have for his brother-in-law. I expressed my condolences. He gave me his card and I said I would send his secretary an email right away with the pictures we just looked at so he would have that as a reminder what we spoke about. I told him that he and his son could stop any time in the next few days like he said, and that I didn't need to be here...just come on. Well about 5 days passed and I heard nothing from Larry, not even a reply to my email. I called the office and said, "I don't need to speak with Larry...I know he's got a lot on his plate with the passing of his brother-in-law, and I'm just following up because I've not heard from him". Her reply was, "I'll let him know". Two more days passed with no contact from Larry. I once again called the office. I said I didn't need to speak with Larry, but I was wondering what the process was, as he and his son were to have come back to our home...I didn't know if he had returned yet, but I had not heard from him. The secretary said she had given him the message the other day and she would let him know once again I was following up. I had told Larry when he was here that I had sold vinyl siding for Sears back in the mid 1980s. I was guessing how many squares of vinyl would be needed and that I had not yet measured the house, but I had under quoted a few in my day :) Either way... Well when I did not even get a response from Larry after my SECOND call and my EMAIL that I had sent him the same day when he had been here, this was now about a week and a half since he had been to our home. At this point I decided to call him directly on his cellphone. Well I got his voicemail, but left him a message that was basically like I did with his secretary, asking what the process was, and when could I expect a price on the work to be done. I said that it was like he fell off the face of the earth, because I simply had not heard from him, and hopefully we could put some money in his pocket if we could agree on the price...that was all we were waiting for. When I sold siding years back, I measured the house obviously when I was there and gave the prospect a firm price before I left the home. Larry could tell easily how much siding would be needed, and I "thought" we were waiting on his son to price out the job if we elected to have the cement board installed. After this message to response. I figured "something" was up, but I had no clue and really wanted to speak with him and have him just tell me what the issue(s) was. Keep in mind, this is now several WEEKS since he had been to the home. I did reach him on the phone the following day, or two days after and he was a bit clueless. I said, "Hey LD...I've not heard back from you and I'm needing some pricing. I've left two messages with your office and one on your cell...were you going to get back with me?" Larry said, "HAVE I BEEN OUT TO YOUR HOME ALREADY?" Forgive me, but are you SERIOUS? Actually, at this point I think he was blowing smoke...chose not to disclose WHY he's refused to reply, and I think he had already (for w/ever reason?), elected to not even price the job out. Well when I started to describe the house/who I was/etc, He said, "Oh yeah...I don't know whey ABC (the supplier) hasn't gotten back with me yet". I'm thinking to myself,'ve been doing business with the same people, and ONLY those people since you started your business. If he didn't know the price for the product (which he knows), a simple phone call could get pricing. I have called and got pricing myself from the suppliers. Whatever. Well I didn't hear back from him after speaking with him and that cemented the fact that he was blowing smoke. I did however call his office back asking if Larry had any intention of getting me some pricing, or did he just want me to find another contractor. She said, "Well he's here now with Greg, so I will give him the message that you called." Well folks...I never HAVE heard from LD as I call him. If this scenario doesn't speak to a LACK of professionalism, I don't know what does. At least have the decency and courtesy to call and say, "Hey...I'm not interested in the job because of_____________________". I'm a grown man, and grown men communicate. All the favorable reviews will overshadow my negative review, but is what it is and it is worth you knowing about the facts, and how I was treated. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but for the life of me can't u/stand the man.

    Larry M Dennis Home Improvement
This was a large job on my house that took about 4 weeks to complete and involved five different work crews for: siding, roofing, aluminum/vinyl trim, gutters, and paint. Greg Dennis ran the whole job, ordered materials, coordinated all of the crews, and did some of the work himself. Bottom line, the job was completed on schedule and slightly under Greg's original estimate, and I am very pleased with the outcome. My house looks great! When issues came up (as they always do on jobs this large), they were taken care of promptly and at no extra cost to me. Greg asked for no money up front, and I only paid as the work was completed to my satisfaction. Any questions or concerns I had, they were handled. This is all you can expect from any contractor, and more than you get from most! My house had some issues, with parts of the roof unlevel and/or sagging. Greg and his crews corrected these problems during the roof replacement with the net result being a roof that is better than it was when the house was new, 42 years ago. Also, when the old siding was stripped, some poor original construction was uncovered and repaired - before the new OSB, housewrap and Hardie Plank was put up. Again, this was over and above what I would have gotten from most other contractors. The single most impressive thing about Greg Dennis is his responsiveness. He answers calls, emails, and texts very quickly and handles questions and concerns as promptly as any contractor I have ever worked with. Based on this and his commitment to doing jobs to high standards, I would not hesitate to hire Dennis Home Improvement again.

I'm having trouble even coming up with words to describe how beautiful of a job Matt, PJ and the crew with Gage construction have done with our fixer-upper in Lexington. We renovated a 40 year old ranch that was in serious need of a facelift and we definitely chose the right guys for the job. Appointments were kept, as were promises. The quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail is second to none. The transformation of this home was simply jaw-dropping. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. It feels like we are living in one of the houses from HGTV. Simply blown away.

Fixed a leak and we had a bad storm the next day. Roof was still leaking so I called right away. He came out the next day and fixed another leak that hadn't been seen. Very professional. Haven't had any issues since

This job, from my perspective, went smooth as silk!  The came each day and worked professionally and efficiently. They did work above and beyond what  the quote entailed, and above my expectations.  The work they did resulted in such a neat appearance and made such an immense improvement in our home, and then when they left the job upon completion, you would not have known they had been there, due to their job site clean-up. It's obvious that they take pride in their work.
In the past, we've had contractors ask for some money up-front. And, in the past, we had to do our own clean-up.  Not the case here.  Pleasantly surprised. No disappointment.
Needless to say, I highly recommend Goins Construction.  They have also done work at the homes of two of our sons (windows replaced there).  Same experience at those homes.  Hire them with confidence that you will not be disappointed in the finished work.  I wish all contractors worked in this manner.
The Golden Rule is alive and well.

During that time I mentioned to Ricky Culpepper (their foreman) that I was going to have some other work done also,  He asked if they could bid on it and I said yes.  We retired the year before and were concentrating on refurbishing our house after neglecting it for 22 of our working years since we built it.  Each of their bids was competitive, they were thorough and honest and timely in every aspect of their work.  All materials used were of the highest quality and they required no follow up to prod them to finish..  I have had one minor call back on their work since it was done.  They came out and corrected the problem within one day, no hassle.

Christmas Eve it was raining, I heard a dropping in the ceiling.  I called Greg Dennis.  He came out right away and found
spot on top of the house and put a tarp over it till he could come back.  I had to wait awhile for them, due to 2 bad winter
storms and much rain.  He called and said when he would be coming.  They were right on time!  They did a great job, tearing off, replacing, and painting, and cleaning up after.  I am very pleased.  Thank you Greg Dennis!

Stephan Belec, the owner, and his 2 man team were very pleasant and always polite, on time and worked hard. If I had questions, they listened carefully and answered clearly and patiently. They played their radio at a low volume which never disturbed my space. They always cleaned up before leaving in the afternoon, so no mess around the outside. The price seemed a little high to me but there was lots of ladder climbing and overhead painting. As they continued to paint I began to appreciate effort it took. The house looks great and I will use them again!
