    Brakes 4 Less
    I can tell you who I would not recommend.  It's called Brakes for Less.  I called them twice and told them the year and the make of my car, which is a '96 Rav 4.  They said oh yes, we can fix that; let's see if  we have your I guess type, year, model in stock.  They said they had them, so I dropped it off - no problem.  I picked it up and the guy said  - he did the back brakes, not the front brakes, the back brakes - and he said they may squeak awhile, but I may need pads or shoes or whatever the separation of all that stuff was. It was fine when I drove off.  I didn't pay it no attention, but the next day when I got in the car there was some vibration, and I called him back.  He said that's probably the piece you need and I said well why the h**l you ain't tell me that when I was there.  So I took it back and he said well, they didn't have the shoes and the pads and he wanted me to go next door to an automotive parts provider, which is right out of one driveway and into the next driveway.  Okay so I go next door and I buy the pads, and he said well where are the pads and the shoes, one of those things ... I said well she didn't have the shoes and she said I would have to go all the way to Columbia, which is about thirteen miles away, down the highway, if I wanted them that day or she could order them and they would be there that Monday or that Tuesday.  I said no, I wanna get everything done today.  So I go out of their driveway and go to the next driveway, which is another auto parts provider.  They had them.  So I'm like, okay - pads, shoes, they all the same to me.  So that's one piece from them and one piece from the other provider - took two boxes and two brakes.  And he said why didn't you get them both in the same shop?  I said well one's a shoe and one's a pad.  Oh they're not compatible; I'm gonna have a hard time putting them on, he said, because I need them to be from the same company.  They need to be the same brand.  I said okay.  And know what I did?  I mean, I had paid him the - like they charged $139 and with tax on it $159 - to do all this, you know, the first work he did.  So I said okay; I'll be back later on, I'll be back like Monday or whatever day that was.  I did it all on a Saturday.  I took my happy a** right next door, gave her her piece back, got my change.  I paid cash, gave her $98; no, hers might've been a credit card. Got my credit back on my credit card.  I went down to the other parts provider and told him what happened and he said I don't understand.  I said well that's what he told me.  He said well why you bringing them back?  He was like not gonna take them back because I just come from there, and I said the guy down here at Brakes for Less said I had two different brands and he couldn't work with your box and then the box from the other provider. It had to be from the same.  He gave me my money back and I got all my money back and I called another provider, told the guy what happened, and I said I'm bringing my car in.  He said Ms. Mims, bring your car down.

    He did a fantastic job. I purchased an Angie's List deal for headlight restoration. My headlights look like new. He was professional and very nice. He also removed the mildew that had built up on my car. I didn't know what it was - tiny black dots all over the car. I would highly recommend him to everyone. Best service ever!

    Randy free estimate was fair and his quality of work was exceptional. He preordered the parts so that I didn't have transportation issues or have to rent a car. And than he worked with me by giving me a military discount on the labor charges. And than his guys was able to make the repairs in one day, so the timeliness was awesome.

    It went well. The car was drivable with the damage it had, so I scheduled my repair to start when they anticipated a light day. I did get hung up a couple extra days waiting for an extra part we couldn't see was broken until they removed the bumper. Other than that hiccup, the job went smoothly. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I have no problem recommending them. I should note this job was done at the old location on 378, they moved a few months ago to the current location.

    I cannot say enough about Randy at Birchmore.  Seriously.  My teenager is learning to drive and decided to back out of our garage at an angle causing damage not only to the side of the garage but to the front left part of my automobile.  I did not want an insurance claim and hoped I could get it done for a reasonable amount of money.  Randy was amazing to work with.  He gave me a "rough pre-estimate" based on pictures I sent him, and then met me at the Honda dealer close to my home to give me an actual estimate.  He came in very close, actually a few dollars less, than what he had originally quoted me.  He got my car in quickly, did a great job, got it done when he said, communicated well.  If your kid has to crunch your car learning to back out of a garage, this was a best case scenario.  I first called Randy on a Monday, got the car in Wednesday, and had it back on Friday.  He was so pleasant to work with and came highly recommended by my mechanic friend.  If you find yourself in my unfortunate situation, call Randy at Birchmore!

    I contacted Baker through their website online quote option based on the excellent Angie's List reviews.  I provided my vehicle info as well as the pictures of the damage as requestd.  I called them the next day to make sure they had received my request and the gentleman said he had it in front of him and would try to get the quote done that day and sent to me.  He even went so far as to explain the paint process and how my vehicle would require a 3 step painting instead of the usual 2 because of the added "sparkles" and it would cost more.  This is now day 7 of my initial request and I have not head back from Baker at all.  I guess they are too busy and  don't need any business right now.  It would have been nice if they would have let me know though. I hate to give such a bad review because I can't comment on the quality of their work but I feel it necessary because they would not get back with me.

    REVISED:  Mr. Steve Baker did contact me on 9/23 and was very nice and apologetic for his brother dropping the ball and not getting back to me with an estimate.  He seemed sincerely sorry that it had happened and also forwarded me an estimate.  I told him that I had already hired someone else to do the work.  His estimate was about $300 higher than the other.  I have updated my review based on his contacting me by phone and email and his nice apology.  I would give them another chance int the future to work on a vehicle of mine but would make sure I dealt with Steve and not his brother.

    I was very happy with them. They were very clean, very well organized. The person whom I dealt with updated on how the car was been fixed everyday and it was done on time when they said it would be done. They did what they said they would do. They were recommended from the Honda dealer.
