Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care
I would tell a friend to use them but they may not accept responsibility very well. When I went down to pick it up it wouldn't go into 4-wheel drive and they immediately said it wasn't anything they did.  Immediately they say they're not responsible for anything b/c they didn't work on the 4-wheel drive part.  Some they immediately disavowed any responsibility. But the transfer case works with the transmission, there's no way for it to work without the transmission. There wasn't anything wrong with it, just needed to be adjusted.  What gives me pause is they immediately said it's not our fault, not our responsibility.  If they had said lets see what's going on, it's probably nothing and it turned out to be nothing really, instead they said not us.

They are pretty good. My neighbor has had window problems and they were very reasonable with the price. He has some good people working for him too. He is a busy man but he listens, he looks and gives you an idea.

    Baker Collision Express - Lexington

I contacted Baker Express Collision because they were identified as a preferred repair shop of my insurance company.  I also checked Angie's List for each of the companies on the insurance companies list and Baker Express Collision had the highest rating of any on the list.

Baker scheduled an estimate within 2 business days following my initial contact.  They did a great job explaining what they would have to do and the process required should I choose them to do the work.  I confirmed my choice to use them with my insurance company and called Baker to scheduled the work.  The work was scheduled for the Monday following my Thursday estimate.

When I arrived to drop off the car, they had already taken care of the paperwork for my insurance company, had made the reservation for my rental car and took me to the rental car agency.  They provided me with contact information should I have any questions and asked me how I wanted to be kept informed of the progress (offering to e-mail me progress pictures is I wished).  they told me the work would take 3 days.  The morning of the next day they sent me a progress report by e-mail.  Early that evening they called to let me know the work had already been completed (that's only one full day after dropping off the car) and that I could pick up the car that evening if I choose.  Due the late hour, I choose to pick up the car the following morning.  When I arrived, they asked me to inspect the work and gave me a lifetime warranty for the work they had done.  I was also able to leave the rental car at Baker's and they arranged for the return.

The work they did looks great.  The process fast and painless.  the staff was extremely courteous and helpful.  Although I hope I don't need to use their services again anytime soon (not one wants an accident), should I need a body shop, I would definitely use them again.  Great work and great people.

They had quoted me a price to fix it, which was $305.00 for a sensor. They also advised me that I needed a a new serpentine belt and battery. I had asked them for a quote also for my electric window and a door. They more I talked to them, the more I became uncomfortable. They said the part that they needed in order to fix my car would have to come from Colorado or California, and because of this the price of the part would be doubled plus there would be additional shipping charges. I feel that all of this is because I'm a woman. I ended up paying 170.00 just to get the truck out of the shop and they didnt even do anything. I called the service manager the next day and he could care less about anything I had said, he was pretty rude! I feel that when they deal with women they come up with a lot of repairs that don’t even need to be done. Women beware! And men that don’t know any better should be too!

    STONE'S SERVICE CTR INC
Completely satisfactory. Larry Stone has performed maintenance several times on my cars, mostly routine stuff, and workmanship and integrity are always above reproach. He once found an electrical problem, fixed it without any new parts, and charged me NOTHING! He can be depended upon to do excellent work on tires and other routine automotive maintenance.

Did a nice job installing the new A/C. Can not tell it was an after market. I asked that the new one be wired to the other panel bus, so both A/Cs were not connected to the same bus. The tech didn't do it so I had to do it myself. If both A/C would come on at the same time, they would have tripped the breaker if they were on the same bus. On checking the existing A/C, all he did was leave it on while he was installing the new one. Of course, it didn't cycle on and off, so he didn't find any problem. When we took it on vacation, it tripped the breaker early on. I was able to get a realiable mobil repair man to come out and he said there have been problems with the wall thermostat. He installed a new thermostat and that solved the problem. So, here again I guess it depends on the tech you get.

    Buck's Auto Service Inc
I have been experiencing a knocking when I applied my brakes and being new to SC, was searching for a garage nearby with a good reputation. I called Buck's auto on a thursday and was told they may not have an opening until Monday. I was not in a hurry so I dropped it off that evening. I received a call Friday first thing in the morning letting me know they found the cause of the problem and the cost of repairs. Only a few hours later the vehicle was repaired and ready to be picked up. They were pleasant, quick and reasonably priced. I would definitely go there again and would recommend them to others.
