    Pulte Homes
We are trying to get them to do something for us this week but we haven't heard anything back from them. The price was over 300000. The quality of their construction has really gone downhill. The homes have many things wrong with them and we had 3 home inspections and they keep finding more things wrong every time they come back. Even though they agree to fix things, it's after much discussion and waiting and haggling with them to get it taken care of. They just don't want to fix things especially in a timely manner. They should start building homes the way they used to 5 years ago.

    White House Builders LLC
It went great! Mr. White was very easy to work with, and he completed the home on time, on schedule, and on budget. Great experience, and I would recommend White House Builders to anyone needing a home builder.

Overall the quality of the house was decent. However, there was a lot of sloppy work that was done. They used sub-par contractors and that showed through in the details. The worst part of the experience has been the 1 year warranty work. I first contacted Blake (the superintendent for Sabal) in August to schedule my 1 year warranty work. That began the last 4 months of frustration. I took multiple days off work to meet the contractors at my house. They would show up late, work for a couple of hours and leave. This happened two times over the course of a couple months (yes, a couple of months). The second time they were supposed to send 2 people so they could get it all done, but they didn't. During this time Blake was unresponsive to my emails and phone calls asking him when the work would be completed. I contacted his supervisor and still no response. When he finally contacted me to schedule the third appointment with the contractors I told him that I wasn't taking another day off of work and that it would have to be done over the weekend. One month later he finally contacted me and said they would be coming over on Saturday. The guy showed up on Saturday and got most of the stuff done. But my kitchen cabinets are still messed up (one is cracked and one door warped). Blake told me that he isn't responsible for the cabinet company and he can't control them or when they fix my cabinets. Really!!!??? It's been going on for 4 months! They are your sub-contractor, your employees! If they aren't getting the work done, which obviously they aren't, then find someone who will. I paid Sabal home to build my house and for the warranty that came with it. Don't tell me you aren't responsible for getting the work done.  I am frustrated to no end. This has been going on for 4 months. It is completely ridiculous. The unprofessional attitude that I have experienced with Sabal is the worst part.
Buy from someone else. After these people get your money they are done with you.
If you would like some more info I have 4 months of emails that I would be glad to forward to anyone interested.

Update 1/13/2015 on December 18th I was told that everything was on order for my house and that it would be taken care of promptly. I haven't heard back from Sabal since that time.

I purchased property from out of state and needed my house built on site. I did a search of construction companies and came across Big Street Construction. I gave them a call and spoke with Brian who was more than courtesy, polite and helpful. Brian explained to me all about Alaskan living and went above and beyond proposing some ideas to better suite my site. Once plans were all drawn up Big Street Construction provided me with a detailed schedule. I have dealt with other construction companies in the past and their scheduling was almost always unreasonable, Big Street was a breath of fresh air. Their workers are very good at what they do as well as respectful and very professional. I was very pleased with the fact that every detail that I wanted in my new home was done exactly the way we spoke about and there were no glitches. I am more than 100% satisfied with the outcome of my new home in Alaska. The day that my new home was complete was also my wedding anniversary and Big Street Construction left a bouquet of flowers on my brand new granite kitchen counter. I would recommend Big Street Construction to anyone who is looking for a construction company to execute a perfect job!!.

    Apex Contractors LLC
I found the pattern I liked at Home Depot, a lot of people said they were interested but no one returned my calls. This guy was honest with me upfront and told me it was a 2 day job and there was no way to get around that. He also was able to offset it a little bit because I had a few other little jobs that he did. He was a good character, reliable. He was a little bit late on the 26th but they came out and finished the job. They did a good job. I thought it was going to be a good job, but it ended up being even better. I was referred to them by another company named Superior Builders of Charleston. Those guys created a pretty good work environment, they kid around a little bit, but still kept it at a professional level. I enjoyed the time I had working with them.

    Southern Remodeling
Bob Teachout, the owner of Southern Remodeling, was available the day we called him. He provided all of the work listed above and an inspection on the integrity of the structure of our home that we needed for the sale of the house. He was very professional, efficient, extremely helpful, his work was outstanding. We highly recommend using Bob for any general contract work. His price was very reasonable, we feel that we got more than we paid for.

    G Tupper III Construction Inc
I talked with several contractors about my required repairs and received 2 professional bids that I considered. They were very close in description of work to be performed and price. I chose G Tupper III because they have been in the Summerville area for 20+ years. The estimate was given for the subfloor work on the understanding that it was possible additional damage could be found when demolition began. At that time it would be addressed and options discussed. We did not have to deal with that as the original estimate had been based on a thorough investigation of the crawl space area. In addition, Jordy, the owner said that he would do his best, and thought that he could, replace all of the floor joists and rebuild the subfloor in the kitchen without removing the kitchen cabinets. It would have been much easier for them to demo the cabinets and build new ones. By supporting the cabinets with 4 X 4's until the joists could be replaced under the cabinets, they were able to accomplish this. I checked the progress every evening after work and this was amazing. If the cabinets had moved even slightly I think I would have seen some grout in the backspash tile cracked. This saved us several thousand dollars because I did not have to replace the cabinets, granite tops and tile backsplashes in the kitchen. The rest of the job went the same way, with little or no problems and very good communications.

Jordy and his team, Jim and Adrian, who I dealt with when I had questions, seemed genuinely concerned with the quality of work and our comfort with all aspects of the job. I felt like they would have done it the same way if it were their home. They began and finished on schedule.

We had our new house built and closed in March, 2007. We noticed problems pretty quickly. Ceiling fixtures off center by about 3-4 feet, no slab for the side door off the garage, extremely poor drainage for the AC drain. Now, 6 months later, my kitchen tile and grout are cracked from a large crack in the slab. My warranty repair list is already 6 pages long!!

I will not ever buy another KB Home. I just moved in and the roof is already starting to sag. I have contacted them and they said that there is nothing that they can do. I threw a fit about this, so they recently sent an engineer out to evaluate the roof. I did not ever see a report, but I heard the engineer say that the tresses are bowed and that is why the roof is starting to sag. They still have not done anything to fix the problem.
