    Crystal Clear Pools of Charleston
Terrible experience. I have built 4 pools at 4 different homes and my experience with Crystal Clear Pools ( Eric D'Angelo, owner) is the worse pool building experiences I've had. All starts out well, he talks a good game as in "Yeah, I can do that, " and "Here's a great price" and then you're stuck. Timeline - We signed a contract in Nov 11, 2015 and the pool shell and and stell were put in Dec 30, 2015. Gunite went in 1/15/16, plumbing was roughed in on 1/8. Due to the poor selection of pool tile offered, we had to go selected our tile for another source, which cause a short delay. Tile was then set on 3/11, and the wall and coping were finished on 3/14. He began the travertine decking on 3/25. They finally completed the columns and wall caps on 4/12. Plaster and pool filling began on 4/18/16 . It took until July for the salt system to be connected. From the beginning, the filter was extremely noisy, whining, and caveatating. Repeated calls were to no avail. Once they finally came out, it turns out may have installed an incorrect part , and in correcting it they may have cracked the housing on the filter head causing a leak. We hope that filter is corrected and the leak is finally fixed. As of today July 18, 2016 , 7 months after the start, the pool is still not 100% completed as they have not completed the last bit of travertine on the deck, which has been sitting there for more than 3 weeks now. Under no circumstances would I recommend using this company. This is a follow up to my previous review. We have had even more issues with the pump and filter installed. In our contract we selected a 1.5 hp pump with sand filter. Mr DeAngelo took it upon himself to install a 2.0 hp pump. Because this pump was more powerful than the 1.5 hp in the contract, it blew out the pipe seals that connect to the filter. We have fixed this 3 times. Now it has blown out the top and are now going to have to pay almost $4,000 to replace both pump and filter. I urge every person who reads this, do not use this pool building company under any circumstances Horrible experience keeps getting worse

    Express Sunrooms
Representative came promptly, reviewed desired work to be done, put together a handwritten estimate and departed.  Very pleasant and seemingly knowledgeable.  Next day I asked for a detailed estimate for each item, which rep offered to read to me over the phone.  I asked he email it to me, which he promptly did (hand written).  I also asked if there were an example of his work I could visit.  When I received the estimate I checked those prices I could check online and was stunned by the mark-up.   For example, it would be interesting to know how 221 sf of 3/4" pressure-treated plywood, which is available at Home Depot for $36 for a 4'x8' sheet was estimated at $2221, and 221 sf of 30# felt building paper, available for $19.59 for a 216 sf roll was estimated at $450. All labor estimated separately.  I cannot comment on the quality of workmanship I might have received as I never got to see an actual job, but I would suggest to anyone using this contractor to not only ask for a line-item estimate of what is included, but also to see the math behind the calculations.

    Atlantic Coast Pressure Washing
Aqua Force showed up on time and did an excellant  job on my house. They were carefull with my landscaping and flower beds and did not damage any of my screens or soffits, which has happened in the past. They were able to remove all of the mold and dirt from my siding and trim.My porches and decks are spotless now and the entire house looks like it just was just painted. The driveways and sidewalks look like they did when the house was built..Aqua Force was not the cheapest estimate, but the quality and profesionalism of their work was worth every penny.I will definitly have them back next year!

    Commonwealth Contracting LLC
We recently purchased a beach cottage and decided to try Angies List to look for a general contractor.  I contacted three and was the most impressed with Mike Eippert.  I live out of state and requested that he go to the house and we do a walk through over the phone.  He did and we spent over an hour on the phone discussing the scope of work and Mike was providing imput.  It ended up he was the only contractor that took the time to understand the scope of work and provide an accurate bid.  I also advised him that I had a six week time frame the complete the remodeling.  He stated that he had four crews and could complete the work within my time frame.  I had also hired Trevor Draper of TMD Architects and Mike worked very well with him to finalize the plans.  I received the estimate and was very impressed with the amount of detail that was included.  I made a number of change orders during the process and they were also itemized and billed separately.  My wife and I came down about ten days before the project was supposed to be completed and stayed for the remainder of the project.  I have never seen a nicer, harder working group of people in my life and I have renovated houses for the past 30 years.  Jamey, Kyle, Mike, Logan, Jermey, Gordon, the painters and all the others hit the gound running each morning and worked 10 to 12 hour days in heat well over 100 degrees to bring the project in on time.  We ranged between 10 to 15 people working each day.  Each night they stopped and cleaned everything up and made sure we were comfortable since we were staying in the house.  I think Mike has a big advantage over alot of contractors due to most of the people working for him are part of his team and he is not dependent on subcontractors.  The quality of the work was excellent.

Had an upcoming family reunion at my family beach house. Unfortunately, I waited until the last minute to call or even get in touch with a few other companies in the area.  Henry spoke with me directly and was able to meet with me the same day to give me an estimate. After explaining my time crunch  his crew came the next  morning. The crew was friendly and punctual.  Original estimate was honored and even did a little extra work.  They were very careful not to harm my landscaping which was very important to me. Looking forward to using again when I need them.  Will refer to friends.

    Resort Maintenance Inc
My husband and I own a home on one of the islands off the Charleston, SC peninsula. We live about 600 miles away and are unable to do maintenance on the home when requested by our Rental Agent or rental guests. We contract with Resort Maintenance to provide help (hourly rate for services) with the placement of hurricane shutters should the need arise. Additionally, they are available for other needed services at published hourly rates. This yearly contract cost us $275. On July 5 (the holiday weekend), we had rental guests staying at our home. There had been a storm prior to their arrival and they wanted the deck and deck furniture cleaned. My rental agent agreed to send someome to the house on Tuesday, July 6, to clean the deck for a quoted $75.00. However, I did not want to inconvenience my guests on this holiday, so I called Resort Maintenance at 1:15 PM to see if they could help. Resort Maintenance was prompt to respond to my request to clean the deck and furniture. I asked about the rate and was told it would be at their published holiday rate of $54.00/hour. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for $475.00 from them on 7/8. In recent years, This was 6X the amount I was expecting. At the $54/hour rate Resort quoted me, they would have had to work on my deck for nearly 9 hours. Not possible. I contacted Resort Maintenance when I received the bill. I spoke with their secretary about my concern. She assured me that she would speak to the owners. Meanwhile, my husband brought this to the attention of Charles Basler, the AC contact at Resort Maintenance, who, at the time, was negotiating a quote with Resort Maintenance for immediate replacement of our Air Conditioners. Charles wrote back that he discussed the price with the owners who admitted that it did seem a little high and offered to cut the price to $380.00. Charles told my husband that they sub-contracted this job with another company (without notifying us or asking us about the price). Meanwhile, my husband decided to go with another vendor for AC and things got ugly. Resort Maintenance then cancelled our maintenance contract with them without returning our $275.00 contract fee. They told us since we didn't need them to perform AC services we should "find someone else to put up our hurricane shutters". On September 10, I responded in writing to Resort Maintenance's request for payment of $475. They did not return my $275 as they stated they would when they canceled my "maintenance contract".with them. I told them to keep the $275 as payment for the power washing. This was 2X the price I was quoted ($54/hour with a 2 hour minimum on holidays). This weekend I received a collection notice for $243. This company is insane! Not once has the owner attempted to contact me, respond to my letters or phone calls to resolve this issue.

    Island Heritage Residential Builder's
As described above it was a first class experience that included extensive remodeling in the interior, new A/C and ductwork, new roof, adding a room, new siding and replacing a significant amount of wallboard and bringing the home up to current standards. We look forward to Island Heritage and Brett undertaking the next stage of our remodeling effort when he initiates a screened in porch, new master bath, wood floors and other interior changes. I encourage anyone undertaking a remodeling effort, no matter how large or small, to strongly consider Island Heritage.
