    We first stopped at an emergency place and they had no doctor on duty. The nurse looked at it and said, yeah, you need stitches.
    The service at the hospital was excellent. I didn't sit down but for 3, maybe 4 minutes before they came and got me and took me back. They had a nurse poking and prodding me and then the doctor came in and said, yup, you're going to need stitches. I was there a total of 2 hours because they had to give me a number of shots and then they have to wait to see if you're going to have an allergic reaction to them. Their service was excellent. The stitches, he did a good job. It was quick, clean. I would not stop at an emergency service again, I would go right to the ER at that hospital.
    They were quick, it was clean, they were professional. I was very happy. They didn't mess around. I didn't lose a finger or have any nerve damage. Their availability was awesome. There were 3 people waiting and none of them were bleeding. The environement was nice and clean. All the equipment was in good shape. The staff was wonderful. They were real clear on what you could do, don't bend it for awhile, don't get it wet. Go see your doctor. They are also nice and centrally located.

    Had knee replacement on Monday. Day Nurse was Lauren and she was awesome, as well as several other staff members. Physical therapy was very gentle with me. Guest services made sure a cot, pillow and bedding was available for my husband to stay in the room with me.

    This is my insurance company that I have for my health insurance for the year. They were the option from my company to use to have insurance. No issues to report so I suppose that is good. We did choose to have my husband and kids insurnace on his policy because it was so much more expensive than his policy through work.

    They are a pleasure to deal with.  I have had no problems with them at all.  When I went onto Cobra, there was one claim caught in the transition.  One phone call to them and they resubmitted the claim and paid it.  I expect that other insurers might cost less but am so pleased with the service, I am not searching for alternatives.

    The Surgery Center At Edgewater
    This is my first time using a freestanding surgery center. I had previously had surgery at a same day surgery center that is part of one of the Charlotte hospitals. There are a lot of differences that I noticed between that facility and this one. When I registered for the surgery, I was made aware that the Surgery Center at Edgewater is for low-risk patients and if complications were to occur, I would have to be transported to a regular hospital. I was also required to sign paperwork acknowledging that I assumed that risk. This was a little scary. I never had to worry about that at the same day surgery center at a Charlotte hospital. The day before my procedure at the Surgery Center at Edgewater, a nurse called to tell me what time the surgery would be and asked me for a list of my current medications. After the surgery, I saw the list that she had made and she had written down two of the medication names incorrectly. Luckily, this did not cause any problems relating to interactions with new medications prescribed after surgery. There was a significant difference with billing practices at the Surgery Center at Edgewater compared to the same day surgery center at one of the Charlotte hospitals. This was the first time I had ever, at any hospital, surgery center, or medical facility, been required to pay an estimated cost prior to having the surgery. I was told that after my insurance had processed the claim, the Surgery Center at Edgewater would refund any overpayment or bill me for any remaining balance. I told the billing coordinator that because of the way they were charging this payment, I would have to file paperwork to get my health care spending account claim processed, since health care spending account CARDS can only be used for ACTUAL amounts incurred, NOT ESTIMATES. She seemed confused by that, which suprised me - someone that deals with medical billing should have a basic understanding of how a health care spending account works. When I arrived for surgery, I checked in and waited in the waiting room. After a while, the nurse came and took me back to get ready for surgery. She was very efficient and went through everything on her checklist to get me ready for surgery. She was, however, neither warm NOR friendly. After the nurse got me ready, she brought my husband back. Then the anesthesiologist, anesthesia nurse, surgery nurse, and doctor came in and asked me medical questions. Then I was wheeled into the surgery room. After surgery, the nurse brought me something to drink. After I said that my nose and throat hurt, the nurse gave me some pain medicine. When I was able to keep down liquids and was therefore, ready to go home, the nurse got me into a wheelchair and brought me out to the car. The Surgery Center called the day after the procedure to see how I was doing.
