    Carolina Cobblestones
John asked me to write a review for Carolina Cobblestones. John showed up late for the appointment to give me a quote. He did provide an immediate quote after he showed up and I agreed to it. It was about 20% high but I was willing to help a local business. After that I never had any communications from them, even to discuss the changes they made to the original plans. Scheduling and communication are not in this companies Mission Statement. I should have been warned when I first went to the store and saw the two junk cars as part of the exterior decor. John told me they would use a small walk behind loader to move the 5 pallets of retaining wall and pavers in small loads to protect the existing turf. Instead they used a large, tracked loader that carried one pallet at a time. That left deep track which was 12 inches wide, 8 inches deep and 12 feet long. John told me I had to put sand in that to fix it. Not only would that not work, it was damaged because they did not do as promised and why was it my job. The small retaining wall was made one and a half tier taller than promised (without talking to me). That meant they were about 25 blocks short and the drainage gravel was also short. Again without talking to me, they did not build about six feet of wall and started the remaining work 2 inches above ground. Above ground retaining wall must be the new standard for them but it definitely not acceptable in real life. They told me I had to add dirt to cover the gap as if that would hold the wall in place. The wall actually started to fail as it was built so they did not complete the gravel drainage and compaction near the wall. The lack of compaction meant the edge pavers sank as much as 8 inches in 6 weeks. There was no drainage behind the retaining wall so water exits the retaining walk through every joint and contains mud from the interior. Half of the wall caps are loose and fall off if stepped on. One of my existing footers for patio stairs was undercut and I was told it was my problem and they would not fix it. They broke two irrigation sprinkles and just ignored them. They took my gutter down spout from where I wanted it and ran it under the pavers and told me I had to put a pop up outlet on it. The base material appeared to be dust which is not recommended as good base material. They used play sand for the paver joints which is recommended not to be used for joint sand. My existing turf was trashed, no changes were discussed with me before or after they were done. I was told to fix all there accidents. The pavers are sinking after 6 weeks, the wall caps are falling off, and I paid a premium price. Who starts a retaining wall 2 inches above ground with no drainage installed instead of getting the 25 more blocks needed and the additional drainage materials? John then had the audacity to say I need to pay for the extra blocks that they needed but did not provide. The attached photo shows the general poor workmanship on the retaining wall with bulge in blocks, and the 4 inches of fill and sod I added to cover the 2 inch gap under the wall. I recommend this company if you have a surplus of money and need your blood pressure raised otherwise stay away UPDATE(08/30/2019): The owner of the Carolina Cobblestone call me and said he was calling about the review. But, then said he did not know of the problem. The question of wall blocks was raised to him in a phone message that he never responded to. I saw him at the grocery store and told him the sand was disappearing and pavers moving. He said he would come by and check on it. He never did so I stopped at the store front. He was very rude and said he was busy. During the whole conversation he physically guided me to the door. That is called a bum rush. As the door was closing he said he would be at my house at 4:30 but never showed up. I am not sure what he expected. to accomplish with the call but if he does not tell me he is bringing a $7000 check I will see him in court. UPDATE: John, you should reply with the truth and not cherry pick the points you feel safe talking about. I will write off your factual mistakes as overbite on your and not intentional lies. We never talked about the house footer until I cam down and said what the hell are you doing. Never once did we talk daily about changes. The estimate included excavation but you did not perform any excavation. You did not perform satisfactory compaction and gravel fill behind the retaining wall. I assume when you respond about using industry standard you are referring to the pavers only and not lying by ignoring the retaining wall. Truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth. The cost estimate I made by historical data in this area was around 5000. I agreed to your estimate and paid the total amount. I still think it was over priced when matched with the lack of quality work. The changes were not discussed with me until after they had been made. The wall was already completed except for the caps when I talked to your argumentative foreman. You did not call me to tell me when materials were being delivered. I stopped by your office to get a schedule because I had not heard any thing since my check cleared and you were called and I was put on the line with you and you gave me 30 minutes notice. I did not say it was a problem because I thought I was dealing with a professional who would repair any damages they made. Instead you told me it was my responsibility. Why would I ask you to fix your damages? No other contractor has needed to be asked to clean up after themselves. You also told me it was my responsibility to put sand on the ruts which is not a professional response to your customers. It appears you think that because I stopped by every afternoon means anything you messed up was my fault. If you told me I was uncharge it would have been done correctly. Do you expect all your customers to run your jobs for you? The contractor I hired to fix your errors is going to place the pavers at the elevation we agreed upon. There is no problem with the house footing. You should have discussed it with me before executing an unnecessary change. Quarry dust is not industry standard it is acceptable but subject to drainage problems. I have pictures of the bottom of the wall standing on 2 inches of gravel with no excavation of the ground. Make sure you understand before you comment. The wall did not have an industry standard footing. You want to get sticky about this send me drawings of how you built this and I will send you pictures of what was really done. You say compactiion, gravel and dust but do not give any specifics about how you misused them. You know the words but not what they mean and how to implement them. That is why the compaction started to kick out two bottom blocks. The pavers in and around that area sank as much as 4 inches within 6 weeks. Yess some of the pavers are below the cap stone. If you had leftover in the trailer is because it was not put in the project. That is admitting that you did not properly backfill the wall. I excavated the kick out area and behind the wall blocks was landscape cloth to the bottom block, no drainage pipe and below the cap was clay. If you want to argue at least argue what I said. The bottom of the wall in over 50 % of the length is above ground level. I agree Please who starts a wall 2 inches above ground. You cherry picked what you responded to. You did not address why the pavers started subsiding up to 4 inches in one month. You did not address why the wall was not completed as we agreed upon. Why do you keep saying you talked to me daily when you did not. Your foreman barely answered my question and supplied no real information. Why was play sand used when it Is explicatly not to be used in paver joints per industry standard? By the way you ask for a meeting to resolve this, I tried stopping by and getting a meeting with you to resolve this at 4:30 and you never showed up. The only time you called was after you read my review. I am afraid you and anybody from you company is officially trespassed off my property. I am not sure what option you hate but I can not understand your rambling rant about gravel and compaction and industry standard but I am sure that the industry standard for pavers and retaining was was not met by your crew. Again, just because I was there every day does not change the fact that I was not informed of all the changes made until it was to late to object. You truthfully say the changes were discussed but the whole truth is that was after the changes had been made. Out of kindness I will not get into codes or licenses. I guess things have change in 30 years so you need to search for new opportunities. Also, you did not ask for final check after the job was completed. You asked for the check while the job was not complete and cane back the next day to almost finish. Your past actions, including not showing up to a scheduled meeting with me and cherry picking your responses to not address the true harm done to me, show you are not interested in resolving this through a meeting. Send a $15000.00 dollar check and then we will talk. You have my address.

    Palmettos finest landscape
You get what you pay for I suppose. They were the lowest bid so I gave them a shot. They showed up very inconsistently, but would never call if they were going to miss an appointment. They mowed over several of my nice shrubs, including blueberries that took years to mature. They did this more than once, so I flagged all of my shrubs to make them stand out to the workers better. The final straw was when the crew blew through my lawn so fast, they destroyed about 5, no joke 5, of my blueberry bushes in one visit, and broke large branches out of one of my peach trees because the guys were in such a hurry and just plain careless. When I sent photos to the owners via text and email, there was no response. None. About a week later, they sent me the invoices, asking for full payment! No apologies. No corrective actions. Nothing. To this day, they have not attempted to reach out to me or make any attempt to apologize in any way. I hope they read this and can learn how to provide better service to their customers in the future. I cannot recommend anyone use their service after my experiences.

    Grass Barber Lawn Management
Great! Amazing response time in every capacity. Called for a quote on a Saturday afternoon. The owner stopped by that evening to access my yards situation. He and his crew went the extra mile and mowed/ weeded my yard that day. Thouroughly impressed as I know this tacked in extra unplanned time to their day. Thank you everyone!

Kut it Down Tree Service & Fence LLC
The company took the money ($850.50) for materials on October 1, 2018 (check cased that day) and I have not seen them since. Repeated excuses were given- weather, sick child, sick wife, workers quit, registered check sent, etc.. for why work was not done or refund forthcoming. Company no longer responds to phone calls or text messages. I have supportive documentation of everything noted above.

    Sunrise Landscapes LLC
This is our second time using Brian and his guys to do landscaping work for us. Last year we had him grade, install drainage, and sod in our backyard. We loved the job he did and the people he had working for him and knew we wanted him to come back if we ever needed anymore work done. With that being said, we have had drainage issues in the front yard for a while and let Brian know our ideas as to what we were looking for to fix our drainage issues. He was always professional and courteous when coming out to give a quote and talk about ideas. We are not creative people so we trusted Brian with everything from the drainage fixes to the front flower beds being redone. It all looks amazing now! So far we have not had any issues with water flooding the front yard and driveway like it used too, and the new plants in the flower beds and boulders look amazing! Even all the neighbors have mentioned how great it all looks!! I am really looking forward to spring/summer of next year to see how it all comes in full bloom!! Always great to work with him! We highly recommend using him if you have any landscaping needs!!

    Sunrise Landscapes LLC
Brian and his crew came to do some tree work for us, and they did an outstanding job! Some of the limbs that needed to be taken down from our huge oak trees were much thicker than I realized, so the job was pretty demanding, but they took care of every last detail, and cleaned up meticulously when they were finished. It's so nice to have true professionals working at your home after having encountered more than a few who weren't. Thanks again, Angie's List, for helping us find quality businesses! And thank you, Brian, for spending the time to go over the job and pricing beforehand, and for doing such superb work! If you're looking for someone to handle any type of landscaping needs, I can highly recommend Sunrise Landscapes!

    Grass Barber Lawn Management
Sandro mowed my lawn, front and back and his wife did the weed eating. They arrived promptly and did an amazing job. The grass was evenly cut, and looks great. The trimming looks really good. Sandro also blew off cuttings and leaves from the driveway and walkway. These two really work. The job was completed quickly and efficiently, but with care. They will be back each week and will be doing other things that are needed in addition to mowing and trimming., such as trimming shrubbery and cleaning up flower beds. I am very happy to have found the Grass Barber on Angie's list.

Although they showed up 4 hours late to provide an estimate, we agreed on a reasonable price and they returned the next morning to complete the job. I was very happy with their work, and will definitely use them again.
