    Southern Smiles Dental LLC
He is absolutely wonderful. We have been going to him for fourteen years and he is great. If he cannot do it, he admits it which I think is important and he will recommend you to someone who can. The office environment is wonderful. It is a wonderful setting, very home-like. They try to make it as comfortable as possible for everyone there. The dental hygienists are very gentle and personable. So, it is always a good experience.

    Andrews, Dr. James C.
The staff was very pleasant. However, dr Andrews told us we had a bunch of cavities that need filled. We were very suspicious, and never went back due to the fact that my wife has never had a cavity and takes great care of her teeth and the high prices charged. After reading another review similar to our experience, we will never return or recommend this practice to anybody.

I like that he is very friendly and very calm, doesn't keep you waiting which is one of my pet piece. He has a very nice staff and you have to like the staff because that's who is going to be cleaning your teeth. I have never had an issue with the billing. I have used him for years and so far been lucky, I have only had one issue when something went wrong, he apologized, admitted it and made good on it.

    King, Dr. Kenneth T.
After having a root canal done about 30 years ago, I was reluctant to have another one done.  However, it was SO much better with Dr. King.  He was kind, considerate and gentle.  He let you know what he was going to be doing before he did it, and I was amazed how easy it was.  I would definitely use him again and would recommend him highly to a friend.

My one concern was the cost, however I called many other dentists that do root canals, and Dr. King was right in line with the others.  I was surprised that after the root canal was finished, I still had to go to another dentist to have the filling done over it.  I just imagined that he would do that also.

This Summerville dentist does say he uses state-of-art technology for proof of cavities, cracked teeth, etc., and he seemingly does.  After a new patient examination with one of my family members he said the high resolution scanner showed four cavities. This was horribly difficult to believe since she had an exam four months ago with, as always, an excellent report.  She is only 20 and has had braces and vigilant 6 mo exams throughout her years.  (BTW:  We are new to this state, so have no idea of who, what, where ... yet).   And so we went to three other area dentist seeing what they diagnosed -- we did advise this dental practice we were getting another opinion.  Sure enough, the other dentists found NO CAVITIES!  This Summerville dentist is to be applauded in keeping up with the technological advances as he purports in his newsletters and when seeing him for an examination; however, it is seemingly that there might be a lack of enough experience and understanding in reading accurately the high resolution his state-of-the-art technology affords.     To add, the cost of the four cavities, if filled  by this Summerville dentist, was over $1,000 and three of the four were tiny specks to be filled!  Horribly expensive!    As well, another family member had 2 crowns placed -- very very expensive crowns, but credited the expense to the high tech his dental practice espouses.  One crown was okay and felt like a tooth; the other crown (2nd one placed in one hour) was hurriedly done, clumsily even with the assistant and dentist rather brisk and time insensitive in their dental care, with the second crown feeling and looking like a tack/plug rather than a tooth.  It had/has no definition of a tooth.  Two days with that crown and pain started to ensue.  Tremendous pain!!  We called that dentist for an appointment to ck the painful crown. He, being the dentist, said everything was okay when cking it, but did say that the crack in the tooth was deep and a root canal might happen.  The pain progressed so another appt was made, but unexpectedly cancelled twice by the dentist due to holiday emergencies.  Although this family member went through 3 weeks of miserable pain, we ended up quite thankful that happened because it gave time to research other area dentists, to which we found an excellent medical practice in the downtown Charleston area.  This practice will be our family dentistry!  When they checked the crown in pain,  it was deemed infected and needed a root canal ASAP.  So far the root canal was successful; since it was done through the crown we are waiting to see how it responds since the root canal was finished recently.  As well, the Summerville dentist also diagnosed that same family member with other crowns needed due to cracks in the teeth that showed on the high resolution technology his office relies.  Yet again, other exams by area dentist said they were not needed, rather just old fillings removed and then observe from there -- a more conventional and conservative style of dentistry. (BTW: the other dental examinations had/have no idea what this Summerville dentist diagnosed so the examinations were fair & balanced exams/reports -- as well we have never mentioned the name nor dental practice of this Summerville dentist when getting those other dental opinions believing it was not germane for our purposes).    Long story short, we would highly advice a consumer to make sure the high resolution technology used in a dental practice is viewed by a well seasoned tech knowing if the resolution is showing cavities or rather plaque, etc.  As well, we encourage consumers not to get more than one crown placed at the same time in fear it will be rushed work.  The time spared having two for one is not worth the residuals, which in this case added to the cause of needing a root canal, and, sadly, possibly crown placement that wasn't even necessary to begin with.  The expense of the entire procedures came to $3,800 to include the root canal at the endodontic practice, but of that $3800, $2800 plus went to the Summerville dentist for the 2 crowns -- far more than then specialist billed us!  Simply a horrible experience, one I've never confronted before and hopeful never will again.  So the moral of this story is to react by your intuitions and if in doubt of an exam report, please take the time to visit another dentist or two towards clarification and validation.  Once a tooth is crowned, that tooth is no longer viable and forever at the mercy of dental care or else complete removal of the tooth -- something none of us wish, especially when taking caution and pride with our dental health and hygiene.

    Stephen Chadwick DMD
I've been going to Dr. Chadwick for quite a while now and he is, by far, the BEST dentist I've ever had. He is always available to me for adjustments to these temporary dentures that I have while waiting for my implants. Today's visit had him work on the dentures 6 times before I was satisfied. He won't stop until you're happy. He's very considerate and professional, as are his entire staff, and always goes above and beyond to assure his patient's comfort, well being and happiness.
I would endorse and recommend him to anyone that needs dental work.

    Goedecke, Dr. Mark A.
This appointment like all others went very well.
Dr. Goedecke has always been kind and very gentle, even when I got a root canal. He is always concerned for the patients comfort. He tells you straight out what is needed and answers all your questions without making you feel like a simpleton.
I would, and have, referred him to all who have asked about a dentist in the area.

    Flynn, Dr. Keith B.
There was one that didn't stop hurting so it brought me back in and consequently one on the opposite side started to chip and fall away and he brought me in that day and there wasn't even an appointment and he made the time to fix it right then and there. He is awesome. If you have any problems, he'll give you his cellphone number and you can call him anytime, his staff is fantastic also. It seems like a family when you walk in.
