Awful! The first day Joe showed up late and then after about 5 minutes, he told me he would be back to start in an hour and a half. He never came back. I wasted my whole day waiting. The next day he came and disappeared part way through. Only worked on one side of our wall. The third day he came late, disappeared for almost two hours and couldn't get the job finished in time for the plumbers to reconnect our hot water heater so we had no hot water. But had he not left, we would have been in time for the plumbers to reconnect. He was super rude to me and not one bit sorry that because of his actions we were left with no hot water. He assured me he would be on time the next day and if he wasn't I could put his tools out. He was late again, but I gave him one last chance. He needed to be finished by 2pm and assured me he would be. He managed to disappear again this time for 40 minutes. At 2pm he still wasn't finished and the plumbers got paint on their hands as the wall was still wet. After he cleaned up, I paid him an additional 25% as the job was still not done and there was 25% left. After looking at the walls and realizing he still wasn't finished I emailed him and documented every issue and terminated him. I also sent him a text. He had the nerve to ask for the remaining balance of $315 to be paid! I received a quote from someone else using texted pictures and measurements and he is going to charge us $300-$350 to finish the dry wall repair, put the shoe moulding up and paint. He also did a cable box install without telling me first how much it would be and then wanted $60 for something my husband could have done especially since we supplied him with the outlet for the wall! Stay away!!! Just awful

    Exterior Additions LLC
I obtained estimates from 3 companies all off Angie's List. All 3 companies gave fairly comparable estimates. I selected Exterior Additions mainly because Doug came out and he had a great vision as to how the porch and deck should look. An issue existed as to the slope in my back yard since we were extending the width of the deck surface. We also had concerns about how to construct the roof of the porch to match the existing roof of the house. Doug assured me the job would be done right and that the slope would not be an issue. He also had a great plan to gable the porch roof to match the roof of my house. One of the other companies said that he could only construct a flat roof on the porch which I didn't think would look as nice. Materials were delivered the weekend of the Monday start date for the project. The delivery guys did a good job putting the material (and there was a lot of it) in a location which did not impede our ability to get to the front door or block cars from the garage. On Monday of the start date, Doug's crew was at my house at 8:30am sharp. This was pretty much the norm throughout the 3 week duration of the project. Manny and Oscar were two of the guys who were at the house often. Not only were they punctual, but they were very friendly and met with me that first morning to address any concerns. The only thing I asked of them was that they build the deck and porch as if they were building it for their own families. They assured me that this was the manner in which they approached every project done by Exterior Additions. I understood that sub contractors would be used for various aspects of the project (electrical work, gutters). I learned that these guys have a long standing relationship with Doug and Exterior Additions and they maintained the same standards of Exterior Additions. I want to recognize Shane Jenkins who did all of the electrical work. Shane was fantastic. This guy knows his stuff. He made sure everything was placed where I wanted it and made some great recommendations as far as placing outlets, light switches, etc. I had purchased some unique ceiling fans and Shane took the time to put these together and they looked great after he installed them. If you need electrical work around your house, do yourself a favor and hire Shane. The project was finished on time and really looks great. Doug had suggested that we install infra-red heaters in the porch. He suggested it for year round use as we also had EZ-breeze windows installed. I was a little skeptical at first since the heaters are expensive and put us a little over our original planned budget. Well, we've been using the heaters the past few nights as the temperature has dipped into the high 40s/low 50s. Those heaters are awesome! We're only using them at 50% and they are providing sufficient heat to keep us comfortable well into the night. I'm looking forward to turning them fully on when we get the first cold winter night! The deck floor looks great too. It's much bigger than what we had before and we now have composite flooring. All of Doug's recommendations (color, railings, dimensions) were spot on. I used the term "vision" earlier because it took vision to get to where we are now from standing on our old deck which was a mess. Exterior Additions claims that they specialize in projects like mine, and they clearly do. I'm very happy with our new porch and deck and would recommend that you contact Doug at Exterior Additions if you need a new deck/porch.

Doug was responsive when we contacted him and provided us an onsite consultation for an estimate. Doug?s ability to size up a space, incorporate to our needs, and immediately (within 24 hours) develop a detailed plan and estimate, was impressive.  He was able to slot us in his already-packed schedule as another build had fallen through. We leapt at the opportunity to start quickly, as we were expecting to have to wait awhile.

From initial contact through the entire work effort, I was continually impressed by Doug. I am a project manager with extensive experience managing high value, complex technology projects, and Doug is the first person in the construction industry who not only met, but exceeded my every expectation, professionally managing the work as a project and communicating regularly, promptly and clearly as the work progressed. Our confidence and trust in Exterior Additions is unmatched in the Charlotte area because of how Doug managed this effort. I regret that we had but only one porch for him to build.
Doug provided us a contract explaining every step, including our responsibilities, his responsibilities and outlining how we would work together. While construction was underway, Doug would shoot off a quick email ?status report? toward the end of the day after visiting the site so we knew what to expect when we returned home. In these emails he would often call out the next time we needed to be home to meet with someone, or to provide a payment, and in doing so, he minimized the time we had to spend working at home to get the job done.

Evidence of Doug?s skill and his team?s experience was evident from the first day. Workers arrived on time, and they cleaned up the job site completely after each day?s work before they left. I initially worried about letting our dog into the back yard during construction, but after seeing how well they cleaned the site I felt comfortable walking out, doing a cursory once over to just be sure, and letting her out briefly each evening.

I also noticed, and was impressed by, the precise calculation of materials needed for our project. For such a large undertaking, our porch was constructed from seemingly small stacks of high quality products. Very little material was wasted.
Our build took 18 working days to complete, and Doug was able to accommodate our travel schedule which included us being out of town for 10 days during construction.

The end result delivered by Exterior Additions is simply gorgeous. I began referring to it as ?Taj MaPorch?, or alternatively ?Porch Mahal? soon after the framing went up and the nicknames have stuck. I marvel at the quality of the porch and how wonderful it looks each time I'm out there.

I love everything about the Eze-Breeze panels, and our new deck is fantastic. Doug judiciously used Trex on the surface components that will be heavily exposed to the sun. For the interior porch flooring, joists, and verticals that are less prone to weather wear, he matched the Trex with a quality stain on lumber. This meant that all the places on our old deck that were previously peeling, splintering and rotting are now constructed from Trex and weather-resistant.

Everyone Doug brought on site to complete our project performed a high quality job. The electrician was helpful, and gave us pricing for additional components we wanted beyond his standard build. The painter expertly matched the colors to our home almost perfectly, even though Doug said he wasn't completely sure how perfectly they could match, or if there would need to be some additional painting done.

Even the last piece, the gutter installation, went smoothly with the installation of high quality gutters that practically look like crown moulding on the outside of the porch, and a realignment of a ?problem gutter? that we used to have, moved around a corner so it?s invisible from the deck.

With absolutely no hesitation, I recommend Exterior Additions to anyone looking to replace their outdoor living space. The price is worth it. The wait is worth it. The quality is unmatched. I can?t imagine ever using any other company for a similar job.

    J C Builders Inc
First I would like to thank James Carr and his guys for all the hard work. I found JC Builders on Angie's List, and could not be more pleased with the overall experience. We called JC Builders and set up an appointment for a Saturday morning. James met me at the house on time to give me an estimate as well as discuss other options regarding the ideas I had. We did get a few other estimates from some other companies. We decided to move forward with JC Builders based not only price but comfort level with James himself. The one thing that really made a big impression on me was that he told me that he is there on the jobsite swinging the hammer everyday, and he was. During the remodeling there were several times when we changed things and went in different directions. James was always willing and happy to do whatever we wanted. There was never a time where I thought he or his guys were frustrated with me or my wife. James and his guys also cleaned up everyday after work to maintain a safe clean environment for our children not to mention our animals. Overall the total remodel went very smoothly including the small bumps along the way like the weather. James had everything planned out and it all fell into place. The remodel did take longer than expected only because we kept adding things and since this was my first experience having a home remodelled. I highly recommend James and his company to anyone wanting to do any type of remodelling and I will definitely be using JC Builders again in the future.

They were good.  The only issue that I had with the shed after they left was that one of the locks on the inside of the door wasn’t functioning properly.  They came and fixed it.

It was great. Everything was very good. It did take 6 or 7 weeks from meeting them to the installation because they were so busy, but they did fantastic work.
