I've never had anything like this happen and I'm 60 years old. It was very unfair. I have been going there for over six years, and I had a very good relationship with my doctor, Dr. Belmar. I could tell her things that I couldn't tell anybody else. I had reached that kind of level of relationship with her. I could just talk to her about anything, she is like part psychiatrist and part primary care physician. I have never had one like her. She is just great. I became ill,I said I need to go to the doctor, I don't like going to the doctor, because she is so popular if you haven't made an appointment way in advance you are not going to get an appointment with her. They said she sees like 30 patients a day. She is a five start doctor and she is excellent. I knew if I got sick I wasn't going to see her.

You have to have an appointment way in advance to see her. Everything went smooth, I really liked her two nurses. A lot of them only had one and she had two. I guess she was just that busy. There's another doctor in there doctor Kang who I also really liked, never had any problem. Went down there for six years and not one complaint not one problem. On July 31th, I developed a sinus infection I knew I needed an antibiotic, I went in there and I had a wait time was two hours, to see Dr. John Adams. When I was in the waiting room I heard several people say, that Dr. Kang was really really good. One lady with the look of disgust on her face  said that Dr. John Adams was really really bad. Anyway I got to the waiting room, the nurses took my information down. I'd been there for two hours. I went pulled out and the door closed and me in there in isolation waiting for the Dr. I pulled out my cell phone and called my new insurance company I got a recording and I said this is Karen Cothran could you please put dentist that are in network in my email and I hung up the phone. But within the last couple of words that I said before I hung up and the doctor walked in and the nurse walked in and said since she is on the telephone why don't you see the patient next door. So they leave, I've been waiting two hours. I say one sentence on my cell phone and they only got the end of it. So, Dr. John Adams and the student doctor went to see the patient next door. I told the nurse who had her office outside int he hall, I said I was almost off the phone I just had a few words left to say to the recording, I repeated. She said I can tell this isn't going to be a very long office visit, you can just sit down and wait on him. And I saw Dr. Kang that I am more familiar with, I said Dr.Kang can you see me today. He said I sure can, I had two patients walk out on me today. So, I walked over there and I told him my symptoms he said that is a sinus infection he said he would call me in some antibiotics.

I walked up front to pay like I always did, and the office manager moved me to the side to a window like for privacy. She said well Karen we are going to have to dismiss you form this office, because of profanity. You use profanity to a staff member. And I was in a state of shock. I said I am a christian I don't use profanity. I said well tell me what I said, but I know I didn't use profanity. But these two nurses I never seen hem before. When I said that she turned her head and wouldn't look at me. I said okay you can't say what I said. I said lay it sown I'd like to know what I said. She said I don't make the rules I just in here to give you the bad news. You cannot go to any of the Sentinel Health offices. There are four office in our county. I have never had a problem. They didn't talk to me they didn't want to here what I had to say. I been there for six years with no problems at all. I always pay on time, matter of fact they gave me a refund. They gave me a letter from Dr. John Adams which made it official. Everybody I told said no you didn't do that. I called the office manager a few days manager and said I would pay up to $300 to have a lie detector done to prove to you that there was no profanity. She said we don't do lie detectors and hang the phone up.

Have found the earliest appointments in the day are the best.  This practice treats patients of all ages and tends to get slowed down as the day goes on.  Probably typical of most offices.  Sometimes the first appointment after lunch is good, too, but not always.  The administrative and phone staff tend to be rather grumpy and I avoid dealing with them whenever possible.  The referral staff have made several mistakes and sent me to the wrong specialists so I make it a point to call any new specialist ahead of time and verify that they are the appropriate specialty for my condition.  If not, I cancel the appointment and notify Saluda Pointe to correct the mistake.
For a practice of this size, I am happy with the results.  I only see one physician but they have offered to schedule me with someone else if my doc is not available.  Usually, if I can be flexible with date and time, I can get in to see mine within a week.

Dr. Abou Ouf was very good at talking to my child and not through me. She made my daughter feel comfortable being at the doctor and not petrified. Dr. Abou Ouf was very informative when talking to me also.

    Jeffrey Guy MD
Dr. Jeffrey Guy has a great bedside manner, he doesn't treat you like an idiot, he explains things, and with both of my daughter's surgeries he called personally to check on her that night. He is worth the wait.

My husband also uses him. I think that he is a conservative person so you can feel comfortable that he is not going to be testing out a treatment on you. His office is well run. It has a very pleasant atmosphere. If they are not going to get you in on time they will give you feed back on when and what time so you can run downstairs and get a Starbucks or whatever. You always have to plan on being there a lot longer than you might want to but that's how it is.

    Belmar, Dr. Paula L
I didn't have a Doctor, but was in ICU for 3 days with high blood pressure... When I came out of ICU, my meds were making me sleep 20 hours a day! Dr. Belmar was able to get see me very quickly and was comforting with the information she gave me... Plus her office is right here in town, which living as far out as I do, was great!!

She's a good doctor. She listens really well and she worked with me a couple of times when I didn't have the money to pay for the service, but she went ahead and did it for me.
