Cabinet Making reviews in Columbia

  • This contractor is a swindler, thief, and professional con artist...do not hire him under any circumstances! I found Tim Harlin on Thumbtack. He immediately came by to give me an estimate on completing a craft room/workshop which I use for my livelihood. I also asked for an estimate for staining my front and back deck. His personal and professional presentation drew me in immediately...but don't let that fool you! He said he would send me an estimate via email that evening. I asked that it be itemized so I could pick and choose what I wanted done. Several days went by with unanswered texts, emails, and messages via Thumbtack. Finally I received an email on March 30 saying "estimate is $1750 to complete all work as discussed. All labor and materials included." I took this to mean the workshop and deck but clarified this was the price for just the workshop, which I thought was outrageous as I had received several quotes and none were nearly that high. We agreed upon a price of $1200 with half up front after another couple of days of unanswered correspondence. On April 2nd, Mr. Harlin came to my home to collect the $600 and promised that he and the crew would be there first thing in the morning. I informed him that I would be out of town Monday and Tuesday but would leave the workshop unlocked (it is a separate, climate controlled, enclosed room attached to my carport). Traveled out of town Monday and encountered a bad accident 2 hours in that had traffic backed up for hours and also a storm was expected, so I informed Mr. Harlin that we were returning home (around 9:30 am). He informed me that they were trying to "batten down the hatchets" at his home before the storm comes in and were running behind. I told him no worries, no rush. Around 3 pm I asked him if I should assume he wasn't coming today. He said probably not because it was pouring where he was but will be there in the morning. No call or anything to say that the plans had changed. The next day Apr 4th, he did not show up again nor did he contact us. My boyfriend called him around 1pm and asked was he coming. He said he would "probably come later that afternoon, but to be honest it would more than likely be the next morning". At this point we asked for a refund...I can't work and make money if my workspace isn't done, and he had promised a 3-day job max. All of my business supplies were being delivered that Friday and were getting into Wednesday and nothing was done. Mr. Harlin said he would put the check in the mail the next day. My BF said we would meet him somewhere as we gave him cash. He said he was out of town (how was he coming later that day if he was out of town?). Days went by, no check, no response to my repeated correspondence. Finally I had a friend call from a different number on April 13th and he answered. I got on the phone and he again said he would put the check in the mail on April 14th, and to call if I didn't receive by the following Monday. Needless to say, I did not receive the check and have not heard back from him any more. I am now seeking legal action against Mr. Harlin to recover my funds and fees. If you look on Yellowpages.com you will see another customer had a similiar experience. I had to store my items in an open and unsecured carport until I could find another contractor to complete the job. Stay far away from Harlin Contracting, LLC!

  • He is not cheap, but you get what you pay for.  He did what he promised, on time, and has been attentive to minor follow-up items.  A genuinely nice man, who is highly skilled with highly skilled craftsmen backing him up.  Very easy to work with.

  • I tried to build a cabinet which was in pieces.  The pieces were in a mess, and totally spread around.  I called.  The handyman was here within a couple of hours, and finished putting the piece together in no more than hour.  He was efficient and I would use him again.

  • Total demolition of master bath down to the studs including removal of whirlpool tub. Carol designed a curb-less, doorless shower with hidden shower controls. ?New cabinetry with center tower, granite, sinks, mirrors, lighting, tile, shower glass etc. ?Professional, punctual, courteous workmen who came daily until the job was completed. ?The job site was cleaned every evening and I couldn't be happier with the completed project. Project was well managed and executed.

  • We were considering going with custom cabinets vs. semi-custom and had to weigh some costs. I checked with him due to his high ratings on Angie's List and he didn't disappoint! He was very prompt with his quote and very knoweldgable. If we chose to go with custom, we'd choose Cayce Custom Cabinets.

  • We contracted with John as part of renovating our kitchen.  John was easy to work with and he and his crew performed work as needed over several visits to accommodate other kitchen renovation work (installation of new flooring, new countertops and delivery of new appliances).  While there were some defects in workmanship from fabrication in the shop and modification of the cabinet openings, these were corrected to our satisfaction on return visits.  Part of John?s work was to also repair and repaint the existing cabinets, which CCC used a subcontractor.  While this subcontractor?s work started out great, I expressed displeasure and concern to John over the quality of work being performed, including the inadequate repair of the existing cabinet damage.  John brought the paint contractor back to attempt to correct the issues but in the end John and his crew had to correct the issues themselves.  Overall we were very pleased with the work performed by John and his crew.  His price, professionalism and responsiveness were great and the quality good.  I downgraded quality slightly due to the noted issues and also punctuality due to the painters and CCC being late on several occasions.  I definitely would use CCC in the future, but only after agreement that a different painting sub be used.  I recommend them to others.

  • Contractor came out and took all measurement. Built the cabinets in his shop. Came out a week or so later and installed them. One part of the cabinets did not fit because of the angle of my ceiling. He took it back to make adjustments. Said he would be back out after the doors he order for the bench seat came in to finish the cabinet and too install the bench seat doors. It took about two to three weeks to get the final job completed. He did an outstanding job. was very pleased overall. just wished it could have been completed with in a week. I would definitely use this contractor again.Overall it took 5 to 6 weeks to complete.

  • The painters were prompt and did the work that was asked.  The issue with Palmetto Painting and Power Washing is the fact that we paid them to paint shelves and return them which they did not do.  Initially, we agreed with Eric's suggestion that he hang onto them until he came back to paint our kitchen cabinet doors (we needed to have some cabinets and doors built).  When the time came to have him return, he stated he was busy and that he didn't mind if we had another painter do the work.  We asked for the shelves but he was busy working out of town.  We offered to meet him.  He gave us a place and time once but we could not make it.  Since then, we have been contacting Eric repeatedly and he tells us various stories but has not produced the shelves.  I would not recommend Palmetto Painting and Power Washing.  They do decent work but are one of these contractors who give you the run around and are not truthful.

  • They did an excellent job. We are extremely pleased. We are very happy. He had the chance to bring materials over and help me with the concept for the kitchen and then he estimated it perfectly. We are very pleased. He was extremely responsive.

  • It went great. We would definitely use Theron again. He is an amazing craftsman and has great attention to detail. He works with great subs. We are very happy with the granite countertops and wall/ceiling paint.
