ATri City Home ServicesActually whenever I was little, my mom and daddy always used Tri City. And then when we built our house our old air conditioner went out. We went to Tri City and they have kept it up and have taken us under their wing. They are perfect. They always make sure it is done right. They take the time to explain things and what they are doing. They don’t add nothing, they don’t subtract nothing, they do what they say they are going to do and whenever they leave, you know it is done right.- Nancy S.

AARS / Rescue Rooter ColumbiaI pay $14 a month for their service contract, a maintenance contract, and they come out twice a year and do a thorough cleaning. The unit that I purchased from them is a Carrier unit, never buy another one. I would not buy a Carrier unit. Heck no! They have three different levels, a low end unit like a contractor's unit, then they have three middle of the line units, and I bought the top of the middle line. The next units were the Infinity. Maybe they would be made better if they were made in Mexico. This unit has gone through my ceiling two times. The first time, ARS paid for everything. They came out and paid for everything because it wasn't even a year old. Then I had them switch out the air handler out upstairs and they gave me the highest end air handler. So, the backed it up. They came out on the a 104 degree day, our air went out, and I couldn't find anybody to come out. They came out that night, this has been 8 years ago, so we bought the unit. It was a choice between a Trane or the Carrier. We paid $7200 for a 5 ton and a new duct to be put in our closet. They came out the next day. They had a 3 crew and it was 156 degrees in the attic. They put all the unit and everything in. They had my house cooled down in no time flat, but I have had a lot of trouble with the Carrier. But, being on the contract, the biggest plus is if this unit goes down, I get right on the list because I'm on their service contract list. I'm going to the front of the line. The first unit we've had for 8 years and this unit is probably 8 or 9 years old, but I have it serviced twice a year with them. Everything is included. There's no charge for them coming out and cleaning it. But Carrier gave me an extra 10 years on the warranty. I ended up with an 11 year warranty on the unit and boy am I glad, because it breaks 2 or 3 times a year. I'll never buy another Carrier unit and I won't ever suggest that anyone put a split unit in. Not if you have a crawl space. When we built this house, my brother-in-law built it, and he in the one who put the split unit in and we didn't realize about them leaking through the ceiling and the pans. They sit in a pan, but the pan is not warrantied and it leaks through the ceiling. But that one, ARS paid for the mattresses, I got an upgrade on my air handler, they backed it out and they came right out. And, they also put three cut-off switches if water gets in that pan. But, it leaked again another time from the pan. It was from the pan and they always come out and check and put silicone or something around where the screw holes are on that pan. So I have that and a compressor outside. I guess for backing things up and taking care of business, they get an "A". You can pay in yearly, but I pay it monthly. It's drafted out of my account: $14. I'm happy with it because I get two full cleanings a year. In the Spring and Fall. They're always very polite and they cover their shoes up. We were desperate and it was 104 degrees outside. They told me $7400 and I said, "put it in". I called another company and they couldn't get to us for 3 weeks and I called another place and you could just forget it. We went with the company that could produce the quickest. I don't know if we got a super good price or not but it was $7200. I'm happy with their service because they come right out and I'm smart enough to get them in the morning because the parts place closes at 4. I'll say overall, because I've been with them for 10 years, and I could have anybody come out and service, but because I pay that $14 a month and I get on the front of the line, I'll give them an "A" for that. They come within the time period that you choose. If they say 3:00, he's not going to come at 3. They might give you a 12:00 to 2:00 time frame and they show up. If they are running behind they'll call. I told them not to send flunkies out to my house. I tell them I want a senior tech. I've even asked for certain people and he got promoted and I hated it. I'm glad he got promoted, but he was smart and he could figure out real quick. He said, "you've had so many problems with this unit", you know, the Carrier issues. I just know I happened to get a lemon that Carrier manufacturers a unit. The next one I get is going to be a "Goodman". It's under Trane or Lennox. It's one of theirs. The last time the guy came to clean, he didn't tighten the fitting and my coolant leaked out. But, he was new but they came the next day and fixed it. It ran out a week later and I was out of town and my kids and dogs were here and they called and told me that it was just blowing out air, but it wasn't blowing out cool air, but they were going to try to come that night, but they came out the next morning.- Kathy L G.

AE F Martin Mechanical Contractors IncI had been told by another company that I needed to have my duct work replaced. It is only 7 yrs old so I contacted EF Martin for a free second opinion. They came out and did a visual inspection, showed me photos of where the other company said that there was damage and advised me that there were minimal repairs that needed to be done but that the work was still covered under the installing companies warranty.- Kathy B.

ADAVIS CLIMATE CONTROLI've used this company twice. Initially they were sent by my home warranty company and then after the first meeting, I requested them again. They are smart, not out to get "one over on you," and professional. I loved working with them so much I am going to call them to do some work on an installation that home warranty doesn't pay for. Such a great company!- Shawna K.

AAire Serv of Central ScThe technician was very informative and did a diagnosis of my electric heat pump. He made some suggestions as to what might be the problem. He explained that what he observed looked fine; but that their company did not do duct work that entailed having to break in to the walls. he gave me some good advice about who i should contact; did not try to sell me on getting new ducts; as the two previous companies had said. the technician said the problem could be in the walls. he recommended getting a plumber with a camera that would reach down into the walls to see if there is a problem there. He gave me the name of a plumber that was reasonable and did this kind of thing. He was very gracious and apologized that he could not give me a better answer since what he observed looked fine. He mentioned that the insulation on this house is a up to code but a bit thinner that what is being used on newer homes. That would help with the intake of air. He also mentioned that the unit was a bit small for the size of the house. The house has very big windows; double paned windows would help to maintain a cooler home. I was very impressed with this company.- Arpina M.

AKrantz KoolingIn a matter of an hour and a half Krantz had come to our home, found the problem, and fixed it. This was on a same day service request as well. Our heat was back up and running that afternoon. They also worked with our home warranty company to make sure that we would be covered under our policy.

ABroom Heating & AirOn Saturday evening about 7 p.m. we noticed that the house was getting warm although the AC was still running. It really wasn't, just the fan was running. So after checking the thermostat and seeing it was 83 in the house I checked the drain line outside and found that water was not coming out. That indicated that the AC was not running properly.
Knowing we have a maintenance agreement with Broom I called and left a voice mail on the emergency number. Within 10 minutes I received a call from Thomas, who was the technician on call for our area. We discussed my issues briefly and he asked that I change the mode button to off and turn the fan on. That would thaw out the system by the time he got there if there was a freeze up issue. He said he was on his way and it would be about twenty minutes. He arrived on time.
I greeted him at the door and after he pulled covers on his shoes he entered our house. He inspected the thermostat, went into our attack to check the unit there and then went outside to check the outside unit. Within 20 minutes of arriving he had diagnosed the issue, gave a price quote that we agreed to and he had replaced the capacitor and was leaving. Our home was cool again.
Outstanding performance by Broom technician Thomas White. Broom Heating and Air replaced our AC unit at our first home and they replaced our unit at this home as well. We have been doing business with Broom for over 15 years and have always received prompt, professional, courteous service.
Great job team Broom.

DARS / Rescue Rooter ColumbiaInstallation was fine. they showed up and started installing the unit. rain slowed down the process. but by the end of the day they had installed the unit. i was not pleased with them not being able to provide the air purifier. they were not able to make it fit. i wanted to see if they could suggest an alternative; they said it would not fit inside either. The reason i am writing this so long after installation is that i have not been pleased with the service on the unit since the installation. the unit does not maintain the set temperature on the thermostat. this is my third unit -not the same brand, and even with an old unit that came with the house, i have never had a unit not maintain the temperature that it was set for. when i had the technicians come out and checked the unit; they say it was normal for a unit to go 10 degrees either way. that this was normal. so if you set a thermostat at 72; i should not be surprised if the house is 84 degrees. i can not hardly work because it gets so hot by the middle of the day. i know there is something wrong with the unit, but i can not seem to get anyone from the company to deal with it. An air conditioner should work at the temperature it is set for. i do not buy this excuse that it can waver up to 10 degrees. give me a break.
I will never use these people again, and anyone who does, is nuts.- Arpina M. -
AGillis Heating and AirThe provider has a small operation but I was very impressed with the service. The job took 4 days but each day he was punctual. The price was less than three other providers and he completed the vapor barrier at no additional fee. I couldn't be more please with the job.
