    Doesn't respond to texts, voicemail, or phone calls. Horrible customer serice. Slow to start but quick to be paid. Unfinished job 3 months later. BEWARE I made a HUGE mistake with this company. AVOID at all cost if you want your fence installed in a timely manner with little spike in blood pressure. If you do not head other reviews DO NOT PAY until the job is 100% to your satisfaction. Put the expected start and finish dates in the contract/agreement. Elden communicates only when it is convenient for him. He doesn't respond to Phone Calls, Voice mail, or texts. PLEASE BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS with this one. He will cash your check as soon as you give it to him but takes his time to start the job. **This recount is based on time stamped text messages and bank account statements. This does not include the countless phone calls both my wife and I attempted. The information below may appear to be a rant so if you get tired of reading read above once more for the abbreviated version** On Saturday May 5, 2018 I hired Gillespie Fencing to install aluminum fencing around the backside of our house for $5590.00. At that time a check was cut for $3450.00 to cover materials and agreed on a start 1 June 2018 start date. On 31 May checked to ensure everything was on schedule. His said due to rain and bad weather he was 2 weeks behind schedule and that he had yet to order the material. Although frustrated we know that you sometimes have to work around the weather and we were able to finish with another contractor for stump grinding and tree removal around the property. In the evening I texted him to ask about his schedule so we could have a firm install date. On 6 June after no response and thinking Elden Gillespie had a week to rearrange prior installs, I sent another text asking to start the install the middle of June around the 16th. Later that evening I received a text saying he'll make sure it ships in my mind the weekend of the 16th was good so that my wife wouldn't have to worry it after I left on business. On 11 June Mr. Gillespie messaged saying that he just found out the reason it is taking so long is because that fence style was not in the suppliers regular inventory so it had to be special ordered but that he could get me another in stock style that would arrive a week earlier. As it was only another week and we have already waited this long I decided to stay with the fence style we wanted, not settled for. I told Elden that I thought that the fence was ordered back when we gave him the $3450 deposit a month ago. At this point Elden appeared very proactive even going as far as saying that he would drive to Charlotte to pick-up the materials as and a discount as well for our troubles. 21 June again after no response from Elden Gillespie I messaged him saying that I am leaving the country on business and that he will need to be in contact with my wife from then that day going forward. 24 June Elden texted my wife stating that he did forget about us stating the fence will be delivered by the end of the week. 4 July after hearing nothing from Elden Gillespie my wife asked for a status update, he did not think it was necessary to respond until 7 July and after my wife's third attempt to contact him and to get a refund of our deposit were he continued to give yet another excuse about how his supplier messed up the order. Fast forward through much more frustration, headache, and a lot more excuses, Elden Gillespie decided to at least install the fencing and gates on 15 July. Our biggest mistake apart from not heading warnings from other customers was paying him the final $2140.00 that we owed him for his services before he finished the job which still needed the fence post caps installed. His response to my countless texts to which his only response was on 27 July was simply "Its two caps. Its not like its half done" Needless to say 3 months later, the job has not been completed. I contacted the fence manufacturer and share my dealings with Gillespie Fencing. They are sending the fence caps to my residence free of charge.

    It went great. Seems like more and more it's getting harder to find someone that calls you back, follows up, and has a sense of professionalism. Dave was all this and more. Everything went very smooth and I would use him again and would absolutely call him for other jobs he may be able to help with. My neighbor had a fence done at the same time by Dave. He did two large fences in one week.

    They did a great job.  Even though the weather was rainy and miserable, they came out an finished the deck in less than two days!  They were very flexible and worked with us on dates and specs.  They are very responsive, punctual, polite and reasonably priced.  I will definitely use them again and again and recommend them to others.

    They just did a great job! We have an uneven terrain and they made the fence fit for our dogs, we have two huge dogs. They took their time and it really turned out well. We chose a fence and he came out and he just did it. He was very professional. They came out in the day and finished it. They had a couple of things to do the next day but they were here when they said they would and they completed when they said they would. He was a good guy. We don't hire them unless we really like them.

    I cannot recommend him. He had to come back and redo just about all the work that he did. He modeled a bathroom for me, he had to come back and do work on that. He put down a brick wall for me and he had to come back and do that over again. Not easy to get him back! He had to come back twice. When you point out something that he has to come back and do over again he is not very pleasant about it. He cut corners with the material and labor. He just pulls anybody off the street to do the labor. I think that is my trouble with the bathroom. He had tilers who just didn't have any experience. At the beginning when he first did the job I gave him a good report because everything looked fine on the surface. It did not hold up. The grout between the tiles just came out and the bricks that he used to make my brick walls just disintegrated. When it would rain the bricks would just fall off. I would say he got some cheap material. I had someone that told me they probably had not been fired correctly. But they were supposed to be old brick. Of course, they couldn't have been old brick or they could have lasted years and years and just disintegrated when they got here. It didn't make any sense. It was a pretty unpleasant experience! His price was inline with anybody else who did it, it's just that the work was not quality and the material was not quality. I think Fredrick himself if he did the work could have done a good job but he relied on other people. He really didn't know what they were doing. I mean if he works by himself it might be okay. He did come back but there is something to be said about that. He had been putting me off and putting me off, he dragged this thing for a long time. So his responsiveness was not all that great either. But I mean there are workers who would not even have come back. He did come back to do the work. It just made him maniac when I pointed out things that needed to be done. So when he left from here I didn't feel like he had done all that he could have done.

    The contractor could not hit set deadlines, or agreed to budget, some times he would double his budget. The overall project time continued to creep and costs continued to rise, left the jobsite dirty never cleaned up, left paint cans, brushes in yard, spilled paint on wood floors, slept on the job. Left the job incomplete. Payment was made and job was never completed, paint is peeling, will need to have ares redone because of poor workman ship. Time creep happened because contractor would not show up on a regular basis, slep on th e job, had inexperienced help. DO NOT HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR
