    Davis Contracting
Arrived promptly on the scheduled start date and went to work. They laid down tarps to catch all the old roofing materials, at the end of each day they completely cleaned up everything.  They did the job is sections, so that if we did get rain, the whole house would not be at risk. The first day, they did the back, 2nd day, shed and bonus room, and finished up the front on the 3rd day.
When the job was completed, not one scrap of paper or shingle was to be found. This was a major concern, because our little Morkie dog will eat anything. But no worries, no nails, no scraps, no nothing.
Terry, the guy that gave us the estimate and showed up each day to get the crew started, answered all our questions, and was easy to work with, plus Maggie our Morkie loved him, and she is a great judge of Character!
Davis was not the lowest bidder, but they did quote better materials than the other vendors we had quote the job.

    Garrett Roofing
I noticed a very small water spot on the ceiling of our bedroom. I went into the attic and saw damp OSB boards in 2 different sections near a ridge vent. I reviewed various roofing contractors in my area on I chose Garrett's Roofing in Roebuck because of their excellent ratings and reviews. Donald Garrett came out and inspected my my problem in the attic and then went on the roof to inspect the ridge vent. The ridge vent in question was not the biggest problem. After his inspection he showed me where the main 30 foot ridge vent across my house was pulling apart and flopping on the roof.
Donald told me that the 4 ridge vents on my house were manufactured by a company that had many problems in recent years with their sectional plastic ridge vents pulling apart and coming loose at the seams thus initiating leaks. He said his company had replaced numerous ridge vents manufactured by this company. He stated that all of my ridge vents needed to be replaced and he thought he could get it done by the manufacturing company at no charge including his labor. He lined me up with a guy at the roofing supply store where my materials were purchased when my house was built 12 years ago. Through discussions with this guy I was indeed able to get my replacement ridge vents installed and capped at zero expense to me. I could not believe it. Also Donald did not charge me for coming out to inspect my roof that first day.
Donald and his helper came out yesterday and did the work to my satisfaction. I highly recommend Donald Garrett and his family owned roofing company that has been in business through several generations. They are very professional and I was well pleased. If I had not called them, I would not have known the true extent of my problem and I would have probably spent around $650.00 out of pocket replacing materials proven to be defective by the manufacturer. Garrett Roofing will definitely do my next roof when the time comes.
Roofing problems big or small, Garrett Roofing are the guys to call.

    Mize Siding & Windows
Rick came out and gave estimate. Provided samples and recommended us going to look at some houses about 6 miles away to see color schemes. He called the day before and then the next morning they were here working. With all of the work it took about 3 days to complete. His workers were polite and answered all of my questions to make sure we were satisfied. I had some specific things I wanted done and they did it better than I imagined it would turn out. Top notch company and would recommend to everyone.

Rick was great to work with. Readily available when needed and very easy to talk with. His crew was always on time and completed the job in the time frame given. Our house looked like a new house when the work was completed. I would definitely recommend Rick to others.

    Affordable Painting Contractors
I had walkthroughs with several painters to paint my entire home, including doors and trim. Home size is approximately 3,100 square feet. During the walkthrough, I gave each painter the paint type and colors required. I also gave each painter the expected completion date. After all the walkthroughs, my wife and I settled on Affordable Painting Contractors because Jeff seemed very knowledgeable, seemed willing to do the project with the paint specified and by the expected completion date. The price was competitive but not necessarily the cheapest price, so it seemed like a good bet. The house was empty of furniture and a couple other contractors were working in the house, but otherwise for the expected duration of the project, it was in perfect condition to be painted with no obstructions. At the walkthrough, Jeff told us that there would be three painters. First day, he showed up with one other painter. They showed up late around 10:00 a.m. because of whatever reason, and only stayed until 2:00 p.m. Turns out, that was standard working hours. Sometimes we were lucky to have them for more than four hours in a day. They did not use the specified paint for the ceiling, instead they used a cheaper paint. Halfway through the painting, Jeff has his wife call me and ask for more money because the paint that was specified was more expensive. They never showed up with more paint than they would use in a day and took materials home at the end of the day. When the project was past the promised completion date and less than 75% complete, they pulled out. It was one day after we had made a progress payment to his wife (because after the first week, I never got a call back or saw Jeff in person). I tried calling him, setting up meetings, but all I would get was texts back. So, on the last day, Jeff and his brother showed up. My wife left for the store, and not 15 minutes later, I get a call from Jeff's wife telling me he fell off his ladder while painting and they would not be coming back anytime soon. Odd thing was that although Jeff was rushed to a clinic, his brother had enough time to pack up the ladders and all the material/drop cloths and take with them. We had to hire a painter to finish up the work and correct some patching and painting that was done in the last couple days. Overall, their work was great until they realized they were way behind schedule and way over budget, then it got real sloppy. I know we overpaid for the painting that was done, but what can you do when someone is dishonest and will not even face you. Fast forward two months, and while looking for something on Google, we come across the Affordable Painting Contractors Google+ website. And there are pictures of our home with uncompleted rooms and some of the few completed rooms on their website. Talk about false advertising. Nowhere did it say that this is work we never finished and abandoned the project.
In closing, if you have a small project (couple rooms or less) and an unlimited schedule, and allow Jeff to supply whatever paint he wants, they do good. If you expect anything else, go with someone else. I would advise in every instance to have a signed contract with this company to hold them to their commitments.

    Heavenly Home Improvements
Sean, and his partner came out and did a few things around the house. Sean did a good job fixing a rotten piece of facial board, and fixing a rotten porch post. The helper attempted to repair some laminate floors in the hallway that I had recently installed. This was my first time laying laminate floors, and I had a problem getting around the door jams. The helper attempted to go back and fix around the door jobs, but he did not do a great job with it. It was really no big deal, I ended up going back and fixing the problem myself. I feel like this was a good deal, just wish I would of used the time to fix a few other things.

    Grier Roofing LLC
Called first thing Monday morning, they sent out an estimator later that day. We had an Ice storm on Tuesday, so they could not come out until Wednesday. Matched the color/texture of the shingles much better than I expected. Had them look over rest of roof and they told me I had another 4-5 years left. Will call them back then.

    Guy Roofing
They do a good job. I'll be calling them soon to do some more roofing work. They do good quality work. They were very professional. They told me everything they were going to do and they did what they said they would, as far as the heaviness of the tar paper they would use and sealers and the shingles. They put down what I paid for. The workers worked hard and did a good job. There was always a guy in charge and he would answer any questions I had. They were pleasant.

    A Better View
I was very impressed when I first called A Better View for additional information as to cost etc. When they came out today they did an excellent job - very professional and even removed red clay from cement at base of house.
Would only use this company in the future and would recommend them to my friends.

    Bradley Construction LLC

I called Bradley Construction because I needed several home repairs before putting my house on the market to be sold.  They returned our phone call promptly.  Several other companies never returned our calls.  They scheduled a time to come out to discuss the repairs and give me a free estimate.  I worked with Vaughn Mitchell.  He was prompt on the day of the estimate.  He took the time to understand my situation and discuss the necessary repairs.  He told me that he would make repairs if possible and replace if necessary.  Other companies wanted to rip/replace everything without trying to make repairs.  That would end up costing me more money.  So, I appreciated Vaughn's willingness to look out for my wallet!  The job took about one week to complete.  The contractors were always prompt and courteous.  They took special care to keep my home clean while performing the work.  My front porch had several rotten spots.  Vaughn had the contractors replace the parts that weren't salvageable or weren't structurally sound.  He was able to repair several portions of the porch instead of replacing the entire porch.  This saved me money.  The contractors replaced an external kitchen door that had some rot at the bottom of the frame.  This same external door had a small amount of rot in front of it under the linoleum in the kitchen.  Instead of just ripping up all the linoleum and repairing the floor Vaughn had the contractors try and peel back the linoleum to repair the floor and they were going to try and lay the linoleum back down afterwards.  The linoleum ended up ripping.  Vaughn came up with an idea to create a small "entrance" using Parkay flooring at this door that was similar to the entrance at my front door.  They cut out the linoleum to create this "entrance" replaced the rotten floor and layed down the Parkay.  This saved me a lot of money!  It would have cost me around $2000 extra to have all the linoleum ripped up and replaced and would have added several days to the job.  Bradley Construction stands out because they are a professional company that does quality work for reasonable prices.
