Exterior Gutters & Home Improvement LLC
I have been meaning to install gutters on my new home for a year now and could not find the right company and price until this company. It took less than half a day to install and my gutters look great. My neighbors also commented on my gutters and the amount of time it took to install. Having a warranty on them also adds a sigh of relief. They do great work and would recommend the company to my neighbors and friends. I spoke with Heidi for all coordination of the free estimate, Installation date, payment and warranty. She's on point. If I could make one recommendation " suggestion of material & direction of how to extend the down spout" water flow away from the foundation. :o) Thank you

Scheduling and ordering done by Susan.  Shingles actually arrived one day early as did the work crew but owner was notified ahead of time.  Susan and David are professionals, they know roofing without question and the crew they have worked two long days and finished the job.  Roof looks great, highly recommend MBG Construction for roof replacements.

    Columbia Seamless Gutter Company

Mike came out for the estimate the day after calling, was fast, detailed and professional. He understood exactly what needed to be done and gave a free quote that, while a tad higher than expected, was still reasonable. We accepted the estimate and services were scheduled for the next week. Nasty weather caused a 1-day delay, but we were called and informed well in advance of the delay.

Installation day came and everything was done very professionally, timely and expertly. Absolutely no issues.

    I would recommend to anyone.

My roof has been leaking in 2-3 locations during the past year.  I called MGB construction to schedule an inspection.  Susan, quickly returned my call and scheduled an inspection.  David (the owner) came to the house and inspected my roof, confirmed it needed replacement, and sent me an estimate.  After discussing the cost we came to an agreement and I selected the shingle brand and color.  The crew arrived promptly at 7:30 the day the job was scheduled and worked until dusk which was about 7:30 pm.  The roof was completed the following afternoon and the finish work and gutters were completed on the third morning.  I was impressed with the professionalism of the crew and the owner David was on site during the entire job.  I am very pleased with the result, and MGB went above and beyond my expectations by replacing 3 gutters at no additional cost, and thoroughly cleaning up all the debris following the roof replacement.  I would highly recommend MGB construction for roofing replacement or repair.

    Columbia Seamless Gutter Company
Based on the Angie's List comments I decided to call Columbia Seamless Gutter.  I had just joined Angie's List and was curious to try it out.  I called the company late in the afternoon on 8/22/13 and spoke with Mike Newell concerning getting an estimate for gutters for my newly built home.  After all the rains this summer, we realized we should have included that with our plans.  He was very nice and said he would be out on 8/26/13 at 1pm.  He arrived a little early which was good because my husband had arranged to take time off work to be there with me to speak with him.  He looked over the house and asked me specifically where I wanted some of the drain spouts to be located which I appreciated very much.  He could have just had the guys come and put them wherever and I might not have been satisfied.  There was one place at the front of the home which was going to be a little awkward because of a pillar and some stone located on the front porch.  He was extremely patient with me discussing how it would look and what some of the options might be to make the gutter look the best possible way.  He talked me through it until I was satisfied and never gave me the impression that he was in a hurry or aggravated because I was taking so much time trying to feel good about that one spot.  He gave me an estimate of $1420.00 which included a 5% discount because I had mentioned Angie's List on the phone originally.  We decided to go ahead and book him and he gave us the next available time of 9/11/13.
On 9/11/13 Gene and Tony showed up around 11:15am.  I should have asked Mr. Newell what time to expect them because I thought they would be there first thing but that was my fault for not clarifying.  They were both very nice guys and very personable.  I sat on the back deck the entire time and I hardly knew they were there.  I did feel bad that they ran into two wasps nests under my shingles but they were prepared with a lot of spray and undeterred!  There was one place that they couldn't run the spout where I had originally wanted because of a flood light but they let me know and made sure I was okay with that.  They completed the job in about four hours.  At completion, he gave me an invoice and said the cost would only be $1308.00 because they didn't have to do some work they originally thought.  Now, they didn't have to do that.  They could have just charged me what I had already agreed upon.  My husband and I were very appreciative of that.  He took a check and headed for the truck.  I followed him to check out the work.  I just couldn't believe how beautiful it was.  It looked like molding instead of gutters.  In my mind I had pictured those crinkly u-shaped gutters but these are actually an asset to the way the house looks.  I was thrilled.  I think Mr. Newell should show a picture when he goes out for an estimate because their beauty is definately a selling point.  I was also impressed with how the guys put them up.  Everything looked sharp and crisp.  When I looked at the "awkward" place that had warranted so much discussion I hesistated just because I was looking at how they did it.  Gene immediately asked if it was okay and discussed with me adding an end piece to cap it differently if I wasn't happy.  Mind you they had already packed up and the truck was running.  He turned off the truck, got the ladder back off the truck and made me a little cap just to hold up to see if I'd prefer that.  When I decided I didn't think so, he left it with me in case I changed my mind.  Never once did they seem aggravated that they had to take time to do this for me.  Also, while we were talking when they were finishing loading up the truck, they were both looking for a screw that they had apparently dropped in the driveway.  They weren't going to leave until they found that screw (which they did).  Not a single one of the tradesmen on the job building my home has been that concientious!!  They could have left it and we run over it and we would never have known it was their screw.  They had also picked up every piece of trash and you would never know they had been there except for the beautiful gutters.  He left by saying to call if there were any problems.  There hasn't been any rain yet, but I would recommend this company to anyone.  As a matter of fact, the day after the installation, my husband called for their number so he could pass it along to his boss.  He was happy and he was so happy I was happy!  We will be referring everyone we know to them.  Great price, great work, great attitude - hard to find these days.

This is a horror story in the making! The most unprofessional, UNQUALIFIED, absolutely no pride in workmanship or just no clue, who knows?! It has taken almost a year before I can even re-live this ordeal on angie's list...it is still difficult. There is so much to say, probably too much for angie's list. I will not state anything that I don't have a picture to back it up or it can still be seen in the home. We were ready, close at the beginning, to find another contractor, but he had already taken most of the money from the draw account, without the work being done. We were stuck! At the end...we had to threaten to sue to complete the job...if you could call it complete. You would have to see this work, to even believe it! Previous owner began redoing kitchen, baths and floors and all lighting/fans were new. The previous owner's work was not perfect, but not bad either...I was okay with his workmanship...I would have prayed to have the same workmanship from this licensed contractor (Sid/owner, w/Southern Homes & Remodeling). There were brand new hardwood floors throughout, all 3 baths had new sinks, toilets, fixtures, etc. in each bath. Mstr. bth had no flooring (plyboard), it had not been completed. New paint throughout home, paint job was very good (I just wanted fresh paint and my colors...uh oh, bad decision!!!). Kitchen was to be completely redone, except for new wood flooring...uh oh, another bad decision!!!). The popcorn ceilings were to be scraped, smoothed and painted...again, a bad decision!!!). Lets just start with the above. The ceiling: They scraped the ceiling with all the light fixtures still attached...just scraped around them. It took approx. a week w/many requests that they remove the light fixtures because they are being ruined and they need to scrape the "whole" ceiling...duh??? They had already begun plastering and I arrived to see all the fans were removed from the ceiling...just hanging by their electrical cord! Then many requests later (way too late!!!) they finally put plastic around the, hanging by a cord, fans. Too late! the fans were covered with scrapings and mud was dripping from the blades (got pictures!). One new fan had to be replaced...it no longer worked...duh? By the way, not all the lights/fans were removed, so there is still popcorn underneath those fixtures, plus you can still see popcorn along the edges of the fixtures where they did not scrape it close enough. Kitchen: The previous owner had spilled a puddle of paint on the kitchen floor and I thought we would have to replace that part of the flooring...when it came time to try and get it off the floor...it peeled off just like a rubber sticker and the floor was pristine...I was thrilled! The thrill left quickly! The damage these workers did to the new hardwood floors, throughout the house, is unforgivable! The "customized" (wait til you hear the story on the cabinets!) kitchen cabinets were stained and lacquer sprayed in the house, against the walls and on the floor, in the kitchen, LR, two spare bedrooms, etc. The wood flooring throughout these areas are covered in a horrible dull lacquer residue. Not to mention all the damage from walking and compacting the ceiling scrapings into the wood floors. They also sprayed lacquer on the "hanging" cabinet doors, which included the ceiling!!!! We had to repaint the kitchen ceiling when we moved in (got pics). The cabinets were done approx. 3 different times. They acquired line splits (some still can be seen), the dirt and dust was stained and lacquered in...I could go on and on just about the cabinets, but lets get onto something else. By the way, the cabinets are still discusting. One of the drawer's face board busted...instead of replacing it, they screwed it to a piece of wood and then attached that to the drawer...the only problem is that you can not tighten the handle because you can't even get to the screws unless you take the whole thing apart...no guarantee it will go back together!!!! Every "brand new" appliance that we bought for the kitchen were scratched/damaged. Every one of them!!! Sometimes they made it worse, trying to repair what they had done...sickening! My beautiful tub fixtures (Mstr.Bth), the chrome was scratched on all. They broke the sprayer on the jacuzzi tub twice and had to replace it with another (not matching the original). That sprayer hose won't even reach the middle of the tub and is basically unusable (I have used that tub once...and won't use it again). You should see the tile work around that tub...even I could not do such a horrible job...no joke! The new tile in the Mstr.Bth. is so uneven...and they started with a plain, plyboard floor! I've laid tile before...don't these licensed contractors know how to level a tile? We have areas that catch your feet all the time...corners are sticking up and can hurt! Before we even moved in, the grout was coming out from between the tiles. We have certain areas where you walk on the tiled floor and it continually cracks and pops...I'm just waiting for the tiles to break in those areas...it's coming, I know! The Mstr.Bth. shower is another joke. It was to be a custom shower with glass and cultured marble. First they ordered and partially installed the bottom pan and one side of the shower...it was not the dimensions requested..it was the size of a bathtub (way too small). The communications between this crew was ridiculous. So, it had to be re-done. I had already given them the fixtures, upon their request, for the shower (before it was poured), so they would know how it had to be set up. Well, even with the fixtures, they drilled the hole for the water faucet handle too big....oh here it comes! Guess how they fixed it? They did not have the wall repoured and replaced and do it correctly...oh no!...they just cut a round plug (I'm guessing approx. 7in. round) and glued it over the large hole, and my glass/chrome fixture is now attached to that unsightly plug. And just something else, the poured base and one shower wall are cracked. There are approx. 4 cracks in the base pan and one bottom/corner crack on the wall with the fixtures. That does not include all the scratches they made on the walls, I guess when installing... unbelieveable! There was a doorway on the back porch that needed to be bricked in. The previous owner had already done the sheetrock, but not the brickwork. We already had the bricks, they were just going to mortar them in. He stated his cost would be $700. Then we thought why not put a window instead and only a few rows of bricking. Both parties agreed, the window was $400 and the remainder was for bricking/window seal. Oh boy! you should see this job! The mortor on the house is a tanish color...they used plain grey mortor that no where matches the mortor around it. Not just the color of the mortor, oh no! they spaced out the rows (uneven to the current wall), I guess to avoid one more row of bricks! Then, they put a plain piece of board for the outside window seal. The rest of the windows in house have a brick seal. THEN, it took months before we could even get them to paint this unfinished board! What a joke!!!! The painting was the worst! They never cleaned the ceiling dust off chair-rails, etc. and just painted over it all. The walls and chair-rails are full of dust and particles under the paint. Brushes were left overnight in the open paint cans...not cleaned (got pics). The initial paint on the walls did not even cover all areas...him and I argued, because he said just one coat...I replied that is fine, but it must be a complete coverage coat of paint!!!! At that point I told my husband I would not talk with that man anymore...my poor husband had to deal with him and me! God love him! When we first started, we told him if other things came up that needed to be done, we would help alleviate the costs by paying for the appliances and/or fixtures ourselves, that he had in his quote. Actually, we paid for all the appliances and all the fixtures. We ended up paying for the tiling in the Mstr. Bth, because he had only alloted $1 sf. (We wanted better tile, so we ordered and paid for it and he either reimbursed us/or used the $1sf. for something else) this was agreeable for both parties. We ran into the same situation when the FROG was to be carpeted. We had stated that it did not need to be expensive carpet because we would probably put wood flooring in later, but as I was looking, I decided we would keep it with carpet and not replace later. I chose a very nice carpet and then found out he alotted only $1 sf for carpeting...I did not even know there is such a carpet...there is! Anyway, we paid for the carpeting and, same as above, he either reimbursed us or used it for other things (both parties agreed each time this was done). The approx. monies spent was $60K. His contract was for $47,500 (i'm not looking at the papers, but I think this is right on the money), the rest is what we paid out of pocket (there was probably more, i'm just doing this in my head...we do have all the paperwork for everything). When they first started work, the week before or after Thanksgiving of 2008, he said he would try to have it finished by X-mas(2008). X-mas came and he said it should be finished the first week of Jan....then it was the end of January! Needless to say, they were still re-doing cabinets, etc up to July/Aug of 2009!!!! We put off selling our other home because we thought we would be moving in earlier and then we would put it up for sale. Well, if you all remember, Sept-Dec. 2008 is when the economy started crashing and the real estate market fell in the 1st and 2nd quarters. We should have gone ahead and listed, but we believed him and continued to wait...that was our mistake! This company should not be allowed to be in business. Sorry it took so long to inform others.

    LEAFGUARD-MIDLANDS LLC
Outstanding! Received 3 estimates. Leafguard was not the cheapest but wasn't the most expensive. No pressure sales demo. Company sent letters informing of us of the installation schedule. Installation took two days with no disruptions to our schedule. Craftsman-like installation. Installers matched existing crown molding. Fit and finish were outstanding. Installers thoroughly cleaned up the job site before leaving. Had a minor issue after installation with water overshooting a gutter. Salesman came out soon after we contacted the company and fixed the problem cheerfully. The gutters really improved the appearance of our house. It was a real pleasant surprise to have such an positive experience with a contractor. Leafguard Midlands is a 100% customer satisfaction company. The extra you pay for their gutters is worth it in quality and peace of mind.
