I happen to have a BBA in accounting, but never practiced tax work. I discovered Provider name locked. about ten years ago - through (surprise) Angie's List.
He has handled both my personal and business returns on 4 separate businesses. I do NOT go to him because he is reasonably priced (although he is!), and I do not go to him because he is a pleasant person (Actually that is a lie - he is a great person!). I go to him because he knows his stuff, and can think out of the box. By knowing his "stuff" - this is an important aspect any CPA doing tax work must know. Tax codes change yearly, and a CPA needs to be abreast of these changes (getting the picture why I don't do my own returns, even with a degree in accounting??).
He is certainly on top of his game - going to seminars, being constantly updated, etc. Does he know everything? Absolutely not. What he does not know, he will tell you, and then he researches it, and gets back to you.
A tax accountant's role, and what differentiates a good one from a fair one, is to research every LEGAL advantage you are entitled to under the tax law, figure out if those advantages can help your situation, and apply them if it fits. He is extremely proficient at doing this. So even though I do not "practice" accounting, I think you could call him anaccountant's accountant.
Obviously I highly recommend him.
