    Pender's Painting
    Tommy Pender is an excellent painter, and his crew is just as good as he is.  Tommy works hard and when he promises to be there ... he'll be there.  But you must plan in advance because he's VERY overscheduled for weeks ahead.  Tommy's great at saving money ... doing touchups if they will suffice (vs painting an entire room), and only if the touchups don't show. 
    We've used him in the past and will do so again.  But please remember that because he has so many jobs that he won't always be able to handle close-in needs.

    My husband and I have built 2 houses before in a different area so we are fairly familiar with the construction process.  We interviewed several contractors and chose Denny not only because his price was competitive but we felt he was the best fit.  We liked the fact that he does a lot of the work himself as opposed to using subcontractors.  This project started out fine with an estimated timeline of 3-4 months for completion.  Knowing construction, we understand things usually run on the longer side.  Having said that, we were disappointed to see little work done the first few months.  But, we continued to maintain faith because Lloyd Denny the owner had come highly recommend by our trusted realtor who also happens to be his wife.  We had seen his quality of work at their own home when they invited us over for a tour.  After 5 months still little progress had been made but we had paid a good deal of the contracted sum to Lloyd.  At that time Lloyd came to us and stated he needed more money or he would have to pull crew members off of our job.  This came right as we were faced with moving out of our current home with no where to go because of the timeline he had given us.  Against our better judgement and because we felt we had no other choice, we gave him the requested money.  He still pulled crew members off of our project.  We ended up having to secure less than ideal temporary housing for our family that was extremely costly.  Lloyd continued to ask for more money from us even going to the extent of asking us to pay subcontractors.  The final straw was once we finally moved in (which Lloyd assured us we could do) and started living in the house and experiencing major electrical issues.  The cable company came to hook up our tv's and found that not only were the cables not run anywhere, but Denny Construction had left 30 year old cables that were not up to code behind the nice, new switch plates they had installed.  The next day when I had someone come to clean the carpets, thier machine blew the breaker on the whole kitchen, laundry room, powder room and part of the addition which I use as an office.  Same thing happens now when I plug in more than one appliance in the kitchen.  We found out that Denny did all the electrical themselves under someone elses license number.  When I spoke to the electrician whose number they used he said that Denny had not wired it like he told him to and he had never called him to inspect it before the final inspection.  Needless to say we failed our final inspection in a major way due mainly to electrical problems including have ZERO GCFI outlets in either kitchen, 1-15AMP circuit connecting our entire kitchen, laundry room, powder room, family room and part of the addition.  And the list goes one.  These are just the major problems.  The paint and sheetrock work in our house is horrible.  There are areas in our powder room where you can see actual holes in the wall and the webbing under the sheetrock.  There is paint splatter all over floors, trim and furniture.  Construction debris was left in our yard multiple times for us to clean-up.  I could go on and on but I think I've made my point.  This was one of the worst experiences my family has ever had.  Our project took 7 months and we ultimately fired Denny Construction after the failed inspection and electrical issues.

    Pristine Renovations LLC
    I contracted with Pristine Renovations to renovate my kitchen based on Angie's List and the local cabinet company who had Pristine on their list of approved contractors.

    My experience with Pristine Renovations was exceptionally good.  Pristine did the entire renovation of my kitchen and I am very pleased with the outcome.  The men who worked for Pristine were very professional and when they left each day, they cleaned up any mess they had made.  The entire renovation went off without any major hitch, which I felt was due to good communication between the builder, his subcontractors,  and the homeowner.  I was always kept in the "loop" about what was to happen next. I knew when and who would be  coming to my home for the next phase of work.

    Did I pay a little extra for all this work.  Maybe, but if I did, it was worth it.  There is an old saying, "you get what you pay for".  Well, I got a
    wonderful new kitchen and still have my sanity from the experience!

    Did an excellent job. Was prompt, courteous, reasonable and efficient. Was able to do the entire job while we were moving in. Had to work around boxes, furniture, etc. and still did a great job with virtually no mess. Would definitely use again. Highly recommended!

    The salesman led me to believe that I was going to get a top of the line paint job.  The painters were prompt and I must say they were very hard workers but not the professional painters I thought I was getting.especially for the price I paid.  They were suppose to repair the textured ceiling in places, but their repairs were very amateur .  With reference to the outside painting, I was told that the trim would be inspected and replaced if necessary.  This was not done.  The painters painted over the rotten wood, and when I confronted the sales rep, he denied making that statement..  However, when I complained about it, the painters did return to replace some of the boards. At first glance the inside paint job looked good, but after a closer inspection, there were several places not filled in and smoothed out,  For the price paid for this paint job,  I should have gotten a higher quality job.  I was also told by the sales rep that he would come by to check on the painters after they started painting, but this was never done, My advice to anyone wanting to get painting done is to hire a painter not a painting contractor.

    Billy was a pleasure to work with.  We were doing a complete interior repainting on a rental home, and Billy helped with color selection in addition to drywall repair.  We live out of state and when we came out part way through and at the end of the project, Billy was professional, flexible, and did a great job.  He made sure we were happy with the job before our final payment, and I think even now if I called him and had an issue he would do what it takes to fix it.  He takes pride in a job well done.  He has a crew, but he personally supervises them and obviously knows his craft.  He is personable and honest and worked with us on the budget. He will give you exactly what you ask for and not try to over charge you.  We really enjoyed working with him.

    It went perfectly. It was done quickly, cleanly, and there were no headaches. I didn't have to supervise, they came in and did what I asked and it was done in four days. I thought the cost was very appropriate.

    Tommy was great. He was very responsive and flexible in stopping by to provide an initial quote. His price was less than two other quotes provided by reputable Angie's List painters and so we opted to go with him. Since our job was small, he worked in afternoons/evenings to complete the job and was done in a few days. Quality of the job was good. Of note, Tommy is a bit unorganized, so definitely recommend writing things down so that all parties are firm on expectations. We did that and didn't have a problem. Would use Tommy again.

    Overall the work that he did was ok. The problem is that he assured us that if there were things that we didnt like or that needed touched up after we moved in that he would come back no problem. Well here we are with several items that need attention and no Tommy. No return phone calls no follow up and of course he has been paid. There are definitely better painters and other better options that I would use next time.

    Reasonable estimate (compared to other contractors) that was set up w/little delay. Work started a few days after estimate agreement and was completed in 4-5 days. They did a great job of trying to keep the mess confined and minimal, even used a damp rag to try to remove all dust from the floor at the end of the job!
    Mr Brown came by every morning and afternoon to check on his employees work, and never asked for payment until after he had completed my punch list and done his own walk thru. Both he and his employees were very respectful.
    It was the most pleasant drywall and painting experience I could imagine (given that drywall dust is messy).
    The painting was great, they asked me to come and look over the room before they were done. I only saw 1-2 areas that needed a touch-up but they did this before the job was considered finished.
