    KFG Concrete Construction
Executive summary: In June of last year (2016) I contacted KFG about my front concrete stairs which needed replacing. Kevin gave me an estimate for the work which I agreed to and then KFG never did the work. More details: I contacted KFG in early June '16, and after some conversation and an initial estimate based on some photos I provided, Kevin came to my house to do a more thorough evaluation of the work required and gave me a new estimate. i thought the price was reasonable, so after comparing his estimate with a couple of other estimates I agreed to have KFG do the work. At the time (mid July by this time) he said was booked solid for 2-3 weeks but should have time after that to do the work. I said that was fine, I just wanted to have the work done before the end of the summer, he said that wouldn't be a problem. I also needed a general contractor to do some work related to the stairs which had to be coordinated with the stair work - so I asked Kevin if he knew of a carpenter/contractor he could recommend. He said he knew a contractor/carpenter who could do the work - but due to his contact's unavailability that took a few more weeks to line up and get an estimate for, so by the time I had a contractor lined up to do the work it was mid August. (That is not a criticism, just establishing the timeline) During the time between initial contact and lining up the carpenter Kevin and I had several conversations to work out the details of the replacement stairs/landing and that all went fine. Kevin and the contractor were going to compare their schedules to see when they could start the work so I was waiting to hear back from them. A few weeks went by (it was now mid September) and I hadn't heard anything so I checked in with Kevin and he said that they had a brief conversation about my stairs while working on another project but hadn't determined when they were going to do my work yet. Kevin said he would talk to the contractor and come up with a date they could do the work. Three more weeks went by (October 10) with no word from KFG so I reached out again and Kevin said he was finishing up a large project but that he would be in touch once they were close to finishing. I didn't hear from him for several weeks after that and the summer was over and the weather had gotten colder so had given up hope he was even interested in doing the work and assumed it was too late in the year to get the work done so didn't follow up with him once November came around. Then on December 10th (2 months later) out of the blue, Kevin reached out and said he had some other jobs that had taken longer to complete than expected and had just had a child born but wanted to know if I was still interested in replacing the stairs and he said they could still pour the concrete anytime until January and he could start working on my stairs next week. I said I WAS interested, and he said he would keep a close eye on the weather and contact me as soon as he saw a good day to do the work. That was the last time I heard from him - 11 months ago. The only saving grace about this experience is that I didn't pay any money up front. KFG has a pretty good reputation here on Angie's list, so I realize it's possible that KFG either just too much work or had issues going on in his/their personal lives which prevented him/them from meeting their work responsibilities - either of which I would have understood if he/they had just said so. If Kevin had just said something like "I am sorry, I over-committed to projects/have a family emergency so don't know if we will be able to do the work we agreed to do" I would have been fine with that and I could have moved on and found another contractor/mason to do the work. Not contacting me for weeks at a time and then months with no contact while the date for when we agreed the project needed to be completed by came and went with no updates was very unprofessional. While KFG has a good reputation here on Angie's list, and they appear to do good work when they actually do the work they say they will do, there's no way I can recommend them. I would have given them a F rating, but I think an F should be reserved for contractors who make things worse with their work, or who take money and don't deliver what was paid for. In my case, as frustrating as my experience was, I didn't pay for anything so there was no monetary loss, and no damage was done, so I gave KFG a D rating. Sorry if this sounds bitter, but this was a really frustrating experience. (fyi: since we communicated mostly by email, I do have the full email chain of our correspondence that documents the sequence and chronology of the events I have described in this review.)

    KFG Concrete Construction
The yard made the installation challenging but Kevin and Steven (Simone and Sons) did a great job installing the stamped concrete patio and sod.  We have already received several complements and look forward to enjoying the patio and yard this summer.

    RI Property Management
Joe was easy to work with and was willing to pick up materials as needed (frequently). He even went out of his way to exchange a fan that I had purchased that didn't work when I wasn't able to do so myself because I was at work. Joe and his crew were friendly and they were recommended to me by our realtor. My wife and I are very happy with the work. The job took 4 days including staying late on the fourth day.

While weather was a factor and delayed the project initially, when Kevin was finally ready to perform the work, he did so when he said he would and in the timeframe he said it would be done.
