  • Upon calling Jay for an estimate  - he came out promptly to look at the job in hand.  He supplied a detailed estimate within a couple of days and we agreed upon this.  His crew began working within a couple of weeks of original suggested date due to bad weather they could not start earlier.  Once here, they were very hardworking, thorough and professional.  All of his crew were excellent painters and took their time to make it look really nice.  They cleaned up each day after they left and were respectful of the property.
I would definitely recommend them to any of my friends and neighbors.  I will be using this company in the future to update our bathroom and replace handrails in the hallway.
Bethany, Jay's wife deals with the administration/financial side and is a delightful lady.
This is a great company that believe in good workmanship.

  • Joe Barbera came out to quote the project promptly and I believe quoted what was a very fair price.  He listened to my ideas and helped me to create a beautiful room.  He provided an accurate time line, and the project started on time.   He also helped to work through issues with the Building inspector relative to property lines requirements etc.  The work crew were very polite and professional while on the site and cleaned up each night before they left.  His work crew was very accommodating and worked with me to select floor tile, wall color etc.  The addition took about 8 weeks, and did drag a little at the end....but go completed just as my new furniture came through the door.  All in all a very good experience and I would highly recommend for both installation of a sunroom or new roof.  Both have been a wonderful addition to my home.

  • He was prompt, ready to work, and tackled the list. There were a few things he was not able to do, but he explained why and we discussed alternatives, so I was satisfied. He did a good job, so I recommend him and will keep him in mind for other projects.

  • We had a great first experience with H. S. Remodeling.  Stephan Haubrich, the owner, is a real professional.  We hired him to renovate our guest room, including building custom bookshelves and closet shelves, replacing the closet doors with a solid-pine bi-fold, replacing the bedroom door with solid pine, replacing the door jamb (which required custom carpentry), replacing all baseboards and casements, adding ceiling molding, and painting the entire room. Stephan gave us a very detailed estimate and kept to it.
Most of the work was done by a two-man crew.  They were timely, professional, and worked hard.  Stephan checked in every few days.  We liked how the work was going, so we added some projects in another bedroom.  Stephan was very accommodating about the extra work, which extended the job by about 3 days.  We were especially impressed by the custom carpentry; Jay, the carpenter, created a lovely built-in bookcase with moveable shelves in part of what used to be a very big
closet, plus built storage shelves (also moveable) in the closet behind the new bookcase.
There was very little to criticize about any of the work.  We pay close attention to detail, so we wish that the workmen had used painters? tape for edge-work ? still, they did an above average job and the lines look clean.  We also wish that they had completely covered the floor before painting the ceiling.  Overall, they did a good job of cleaning up, but we still had to scrape lots of tiny paint spots off the hardwood floor.  The lead workman seemed irritable when asked to fix small flaws, but he did fix them and we?re very pleased with the result.  It was clear that Stephan himself pays close attention to detail, so his supervision obviously helped keep the quality high.  When Stephan came to do the final walk-through, he did some touch-ups himself and even helped us move some furniture.  Plus, he?s very friendly.
We would definitely hire H. S. Remodeling again.  You can probably find cheaper contractors, but you?re unlikely to find such quality and reliability.

  • They were very responsive, when I contacted them, the salesperson was there very quickly with someone I dealt with earlier so I had already had a relationship, I knew him, he was very helpful, again wasn't pushing the high-end product, he was more interested in finding out why I wanted this particular type of door and where it was gonna go so he asks a lot of questions and was able to come up with a couple of options that were reasonably priced and gave me an estimate on when they would be able to have the product installed and that's next week so they're on target for that. I don't see myself having a different experience than the last time. The salesperson that I dealt with in the middle of the blizzard last winter, I called in the middle of the blizzard, he showed and came up to deal with some questions and the guy was fabulous, I don't know how many sales people would brave a New York blizzard to come out and take care of the needs of the customers.

  • Very arrogant. Wanted him to come look at an entrance door that I installed in my daughter's home. It is an older home and I wasn't satisfied the way it looked. He kept telling me it would cost $800.00 to install the door. I told him I would pay him to come look at the door and go from there. He would have none of that and was very arrogant that I tried to save my daughter some money as she is a single mom. Would not recommend this contractor.

  • Richard was available soon and came by to survey my list.  We agreed what could be done and he explained that 2 men would come for 2 hours (instead of one handyman for 4 hrs.).The workmen were prompt, friendly and knowlegeable and completed the repairs.  They made sure I was pleased with each project and they explained the work and the results. Richard supervised and helped organize the tasks.
They were able to properly align my doors and locks and fix things that had been installed incorrectly. They patiently smoothed my plaster ceiling and worked hard to blend in a patch with the rest of the ceiling. They did not mind when I added tasks to the list.
I think the jobs were worth the expense.I would use this company again.  They were very pleasant to work with, and conscientious.

  • Just everyone from the first man that answered the phone, the man who came out here to give me an estimate and he sold the garage for, did not try to sell me anything that I didnt need to the two fellows that came out to install and am probably the hardest person of this area, everybody I came across from that company was phenomenal! They were knowledgeable, I can't say enough good things about them. They were here almost to the minute of their estimated time. They worked very quickly and efficiently. The guys were so appreciative because I brought them out  a couple of bottled iced water and when they were all done I had a couple of bottles in the freezer getting really cold, the guys were sweating.  They just muscled the runners of the doors were fine, they worked efficiently, cleaned up their mess, there were amazing! I would absolutely use them again in the future.

  • We spoke with several contractors about converting this dead space into useful space.  The room before was closed off to the house, had an uneven floor (several inches variance in some places), an odor, and saggin ceiling.  Everyone we spoke to I asked for an ala-cart quote that would, in their opinion, make this a house room quality space.  I noted out my main issues above to all the contractors.  Handyman Matters came in more then double the next guy but they were going to address everything exactly as I expected and not do patch jobs or half baked work.  Example is that the other contractors were going to use level cement to fix the floor - after looking under the carpet, this had already been done several times before in failed attempts.

Victor from Lou's team is incredible.  This man does some awesome work.  The floor was leveled by creating custom framing and insulated foam board.  Heavy duty plywood placed on top of that and then the wood flooring. The front slider was replaced with the window in the room that went to our dining room, and a new door placed next to it.  The door to the garage was replaced with a new door.  New ceiling put up.  The door to the kitchen was removed and the frame opened up.  A cut out was placed into the kitchen and the whole from the window to the dining room was closed off.  Our kitchen and dining rooms were painted.  Siding on the front of the house had to be installed since we went from a full sized slider to a door and window.  Victor was also asked to address a short step in the front.  No guidance was provided, just simply to bring it to code.  He located cobblestone that matched the path around the front of the house and a piece of blue stone also used in the front of the house to encompass new steps in the front of the house.

Handyman was very thorough, very detailed, and simply great craftsmen.  These guys are worth every penny.

The job only tooks a couple weeks to get off the ground.  While waiting, I took care of all demo and removal myself so on the first day, Lou and Victor had an open area to begin working with.  Time was not a critical piece for me, budget and quality was.   Lou and I had a gentlemen's agreement that we would stay within the budget but I would add a couple pieces to offset the original quote where I had taken care of some of the work.  I also had a discount coupon from the valu-paks that had been discussed a couple times including the first appointment we had for quote.  When the final bill came in, it was a couple thousand off what we expected and the coupon not honored fully.  This was something that both of us could have prevented by documenting the changes up front so we were on the same page.  This didn't not leave a bitter taste or have me upset but a lesson learned for future work - simply to prevent surprises.  Lou is great guy, was very prompt to all our needs, and brought guys of a+ caliber.

  • I have hired Stormtite on several occasions to perform various home improvements, so when it was time to replace my windows, patio doors, and have vinyl siding installed, the choice of what contractor to hire was an easy one.  In fact, I did not even get other quotes based on my previous experiences with the company.  Now that the job is complete, I could not be happier!  The windows, patio doors, and siding are beautiful.  As an engineer, I have an appreciation for detail, and Stormtites installation addressed every detail that I could think of.  Externally, all of the random wires that I had strapped to the house are now hidden; the trim around the house is flawless; the windows were installed without damage to the internal casings; every seam is neatly calked; and my home and yard were left as they were found.  I had two crews of installers at my home, Steve and Mike for the windows and Charlie and Tawn for the siding.  They were all very professional and courteous.  I have already noticed a difference in the energy efficiency of my home and look forward to the cold winter and hot summer to really appreciate the difference.  It was a good feeling to be able to not only hire the same company that performed work for me more than 6 years ago, but to also deal with some of the same people.  At this point, I would not consider any company other than Stormtite to perform home improvements for me.  If you are going to be having interior or exterior work done to your home, and you want to do business with a company who is going to provide the highest quality job and be around years from now for service or to perform additional work, you need to hire Stormtite.
