    Joshua Olean Carpentry
I can not recommend Joshua Olean Carpentry more highly. Josh just completed a major renovation of our home. He extended our cape, and removed and rebuilt the second floor. The project included new walls, bathroom, kitchen, siding, roofing, converting the heating system, and everything that goes along with a project that large. From beginning to end Josh was professional, trustworthy and competent. He had great suggestions and did every aspect of the job so that we would love it. He treated our home with the same care he would treat his own. He completed the job ahead of schedule and left our home clean and in move in condition. We were out of state during most of the construction, but Josh sent pictures and stayed in touch. Our neighbors told us constantly what a great guy he was and what a beautiful job he was doing. We had never used Angies List, but needed to find a contractor in a state where we didn't live. After reading Josh's reviews, we gave him a call. Joshua Olean ia a reliable, trustworthy, quality contractor. Because we feel so furtunate to have found Josh, we wanted to share our very positive experience so that other Angies List users could know what a great guy they are getting when they work with Joshua Olean Carpentry.

    J.Steen Carpentry
He cancelled the first appointment on the last minute. Rescheduled an appointment on a day & time of his choosing and he never showed up, no call, nothing. Do yourself a favor and avoid this guy. If he can't make appointments and doesn't even have the courtesy to contact you to cancel, I can't imagine how he's ever going to finish a project anywhere near on time.

    Two Brothers Quality Painting
Two Brothers did a fantastic job on my rental house.  My rental unit is a nice home in Newport that I recently bought, it needed fresh paint throughout the entire interior, walls, trim, and cielings.  You can go on their Facebook page and their handiwork on my home, I just posted the pics.
***After making the decision to hire them, I dug deeper online and found a couple of negative reviews from a few years back- it concerned me, but realized you need to take those reviews with a grain of salt, some people are very unfair.  Regardless, I stuck with them and I have zero regrets, they did a fantastic job on my house and I am very happy customer, I highly recommend them, disregard those negative reviews***
    Selecting/Bidding process:
I interviewed about 5 different contractors to get quotes.  Dan Woolford came over to the house within a day or two and gave me a quote on the spot and stuck to it!  I was impressed by his confidence, he told me at that meeting that they do good work and that "I will really like what they do", and he was right, in the end I am very very happy with their work.  So I ended up going with Dan because of his confidence and professionalism. His price was not the lowest, but it wasn't the highest either, so I went with him and have no regrets.
    Starting the Job:
Dan originally told me he could get to work on a specific date in December, he then pushed it back a week, which I was concerned about because I wanted to get the house on the rental market.  He understood my concerns, was apologetic for the snag.  He assured me he could get to work a week later, and we would still finish on time.  He ended up showing up a little earlier than the amended date, and he still finished on time.  He had John and Walter do the work, John was the lead guy.  They showed up bright and early on day 1 and got cracking.
    During the Job:
I was actually on site most days the painters were there because I was doing some carpentry work in the house.  I got along great with John and Walter, those two had this system where they just cranked out the painting job in a very efficient manner.  They had all the right equipment, all the right tools to do the job, and did a fantastic job throughout.  I had a tongue and groove ceiling in one of the rooms that was still wood stained in color, and I wanted it white, so they sprayed a shellack that ended up turning out fantastic.  I made a few modifications to colors during the job which John and crew handled without any issue.  One of the days, John came down to where i was working and asked me to double check the paint color in the master bedroom.  He had painted a small section of the wall and though the color was a bit dark, so he grabbed me so I could determine if the color I selected was what I actually wanted (it was dark, it looked brighter on the color swatch).  Johns intuition proved right, I thought it was way too dark.  I asked him for recommendations, he suggested I check out this color called Greige, it's like a light gray that's really popular right now, I checked it out, thought it would look fantastic, so we switched, and I'm glad we did, the color came out awesome, so thanks John!  On their second to last day I made another change where I decided to have them paint the kitchen, which was not part of the original quote.  On the spot john said no problem, we adjusted the price, and no issues, they cranked that out in no time, and I'm glad we made the change.  I am very proud of their work, the house is great.
After:  Dan came back to take a look at the house about a week after the job was complete, i was satisfied so I paid him the final installment of the job.  They are adamant about ensuring I was happy with the job and were willing to come back afterwords in the event touchups were needed, which they weren't.  I am pretty sure they would do that without charge.
All in all, I am very, very happy with their work, the home is now perfect, I highly recommend them and will use them for all my future painting needs.

    CML Roofing & Construction
Chris and his crew arrived on day 1 and the entire roof was stripped, placed in a dumpster and the new shingles were installed.  Also the fascia boards were replaced. We were amazed how quickly the work was done. Chris takes great pride in his work and it shows. When he knocked on the door to say they were finished for the day he was excited to have us come take a look at his work. The roof looked great. On day 2 the gutters were installed, the loose window boards repaired and painted, while his crew also cleaned the gutters on the main house. Chris has since called to check in to make sure we are satisfied with the job and to thank us for our business. We would definitely hire Chris again. The work was done with great care, the site was kept clean and organized. Thank you Chris and crew!

    A2Z Renovations LLC

Rich Bonvegna is very professional and examined the bathroom before stating what could be done.  I wanted a spa bathroom with porcelain tile and river rock in the shower and river rock floor.  A new toilet, shower system, customer glass shower door, custom vanity, medicine cabinet, lighting, including dimmer.  His lead, Bern, did all of the work himself, except the installation of the shower door and the granite top on the vanity.  Bern is an expert carpenter and craftsman, with a lot of attention to detail.  As a result, the bathroom I wanted is now in my home.  Everyday I look at it, I am still amazed at how beautiful it came out.  Also, it was my only bathroom, Rich and his team worked around my schedule as much as possible and made the remodel much less stressful.  Since I work during the day, his team worked in my home unattended and they are very honest and responsible.  There are very few people I would trust to have in my home while I was not there and A2Z is one those people.

As far as I am concerned this is my Contractor of choice for as long as they are in business.  The price with the superior work is reasonable.

Rich, Bern, and Stephen are all extremely pleasant, friendly, and professional.  I highly recommend them.

Derek responded right away when I bought the Angie's List special of 4 hours of handyman work for $200.00.  He told me when he was available and we set up the time and day.  I had a lot of odd jobs that needed to be done such as: fixing the stairs on the back deck, putting up plant hangers, small painting jobs - basement windows, some stairs, etc., putting a screen in the storm door, putting away a large ladder in the garage that I could not lift, cleaning the dryer vent, fixing the lattice,  and looking at a side door threshold and explaining to me what needed to be done to repair it. He is very professional, clean and did excellent work.  I had bought the wrong wood for the outdoor threshold (it was for an indoor threshold).  I had difficulty getting the outdoor threshold, so Derek offered to pick up the material for me to install at a later date.   I have tried other handyman services and none of them had the depth and breadth of experience Derek has.  He also can get a lot of repairs done in a short period of time.  He doesn't rush it, but since he knows what he is doing, he can do a repair/job in short time frame.  He is very pleasant and personable.  I will definitely hire him again.

    Ark Home Improvement
I was not present when the work was done.  The three doors work fine.  However I was annoyed that he used the same lock on two different doors of two separate apartments.  Cosmetically the repaired siding looks good.  I did not see him repair the carpentry framing behind the siding.

I could not be any more impressed with Derek from Odd Jobs RI.  Not only is he extremely professional, knowledgable, and punctual- he's also a really nice guy.  I told him that I wanted to figure out how to rescreen my back door by myself and instead of looking to make a buck and do the project himself, he encouraged me to give it a shot which I did!. His work looks great and we are so happy to have found someone we feel we can trust to get the job done right, and also not open up a can of worms that would lead to a ton more work and money. One of the other things that we really appreciate about him is that he comes out for the estimate, but he is also the one doing the job which means he makes sure that he stands behind his name.  It is without a doubt that we will call on Derek again for future projects. He is a real stand-up guy who will do the job right with great customer service- not a single hesitation.

    DOWNES CONSTRUCTION INC.
We hired Downes Construction for a full kitchen remodel which included
some revisions to the attached den. I cannot say enough good things
about this company. The owner, Tim, was detail oriented, easy to talk
to, always available and propt with communications.  His contractors
were efficient, prompt, polite, experienced and cleaned up after
themselves.  Additionally, all the subcontractors (tile, paint,
flooring, electrical) were also superb.  A crew showed up early every
morning and worked consistantly until the project was complete.  Our
project was a complete overhaul including new cabinets, flooring,
counters, appliances, doors, windows etc and they completed it in less
than 4 weeks from start to finish.  The timing of subcontractors was
perfect. Nobody had to wait on the other sub to get thier work done.
    Downes
may not have been the least expensive contractor, however, in the end, I
think he worked out to be very competetive.  Other contractors may come
up with a lower bid, but you will pay in the end as issues arrise
during the project that were not anticipated.
I would highly recommend this company and will be using them again for other (thankfully, smaller) projects in the future.
