  • I contacted Derek originally to help with a new door I needed to be put on. Obviously I was a little nervous as I had never met him. He came and I was immediately put at ease. He installed the new door and it looked great. From there I needed my ceiling scraped and painted and he again did a great job and left the house the way I found it. My wife is a very clean person and for her to comment how clean the house was left, after such a messy job really said something.
We got along so great I hired Derek to be our property manager at our vacation house and he has done a stellar job. Any time I need him to be there, he is always on time. We entrust our house with Derek and he is a godsend. He checks on the house without us asking, and is is super knowledgable of the area. I highly recommend Derek as a property manager for anyone in need of assistance in this area and would be happy to provide a reference call if need be.

  • Refrigerator, microwave were moved into the living room and I had a portable electric burner so we could cook our meals in the living room. When the kitchen was done new appliances were installed and the living room cleared so the floor could be refinished. We had to vacate the premises for three days so the floors could be refinished,, but were able to return in the early evening. Mr. Bonvegna was always careful to keep any inconvenience to a minimum. He is meticulous, polite, considerate and very responsive to our questions and comments.

  • Materials were provided, and Mark Ripa told us the work would be completed by early November.  He billed the church before the work was completed and a check was delivered to him.  Once he received the check, he essentially stopped working on the deck.  He ignored multiple requests to finish the job.  He continued to promise to complete the work "in a couple of weeks" for six months.  Only after the church threated to require him to reimburse the money paid to him did he bother to show up at the work site.  He completed the project in two days, but did not pick up the work site after his crew had left, leaving a substantial amount of construction waste (screws and splintered decking material) and personal garbage (food wrappers, tobacco packages, etc) at a house with two small children in it.  DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!

  • Stephan and Giovanni were very professional and very courteous.  I appreciated the fact that they were willing to listen to what we wanted and did their very best to make it happen.  In addition, I really appreciated the fact that they truly cared about the quality of their work which allowed me to relax knowing that it would be done correctly without my worrying about it.  The price was fair for the excellent quality of their work.  I most certainly would call Stephan for any other renovations that need to be done.  I would like to attach some pictures but not sure how the previous reviewer did it.

  • I originally was contacted in May. He did come out and look at the job, and rather quickly submitted an estimate. We agreed Mid-July would work for both of us. A series of e-mail is included, but in short, he never responded to any e-mails asking for firm dates (as late as 6 July he said mid-July). When I persisted in asking for a date, his response was:
    and quot;Fran,
I told you when I know when I can start I would contact you, I have a waiting list of at least two and a half months and was doing you a favor by trying to fit you in July. If you can not be patient then I would be happy to return your money. I am great at what I do and do not need your business or harassment. Now if you can wait a little longer I would be happy to install your sliding door.

    Thank You

He ultimately charged me $150.00 ($100 for 'work done' and $50 for 'restocking') and returned the remainder of the deposit.
Here is the entire series of e-mails. (In chronological order)
Thanks...please keep me updated when you can get more specific.

Please have the courtesy of answering my past e-mails....the projected date of installation and the manufacturer information of the door itself.

    Derek,
Please give me an estimate of the date you will be installing the door - so I can arrange time off from work. Also, Specifics on the door itself...manufacturer, web site showing the door, etc. will be appreciated.

This could have been avoided had you at lest had the courtesy of responding to my e-mails..... I'm sorry you do not really want the job. Yes, please, send the money back as soon as possible.
You may be great at what you do with doors, but customer service is certainly not strong point. I WAS patient....wrote several e-mails asking the brand of door and specs on it, an an update on installation time frame. I was not rude. Had you but answered one of my e-mails, I would have been satisfied. Put yourself in my place....I trusted you enough to give you a lot of money (for me), and then you never respond to e-mails. Do you not think that the idea of fraud would cross your mind?
I'm sorry to cancel the work order, but since you don't seem to mind losing the work, God Bless, and I wish you well.
Please let me know how and when I can expect my deposit returned.
    Thank you,
    Frances A. Coulter

There is a $200 non refundable deposit fee for the trouble of ordering of the doors and time put forth towards the job thus far. I will send you an invoice the the description of the charges. I will also return your money once I retrieve it from the company I ordered the door from. There may also be a restocking fee involved on there part. I will keep you informed. Sorry it did not work out. And for the record I did reply to a few of your emails but I guess you were just not satisfied.

    Thank You

We'll never agree on my reasons for upset - I received no responses to m various e-mails - last one in June stating a mid-July installation. My concern mounted because I was in the hospital for over a week with congestive hear failure and was attempting to get everything settled - so the work could be done even in my absence.
You are p***** - but I trust you will not search for all the loophole charges and recognize that you are partly at fault here.

  • I found Ken through Craigslist, but some more checking showed that he had done  substantial jobs with good results. When he came to our house to see what we wanted, he brought a stack of pictures from prior jobs and a list of references.
Ken listened carefully to what we wanted, looked at the pictures we had of similar cabinets and sketched up a few ideas on the spot. His initial estimate was in our price range, so we gave Ken the go-ahead. He returned to to take detailed measurement and provide a few more sketches, defining the details of the cabinets.
Ours was a relatively small job: just one 11 x 8 x 2 foot unit with bookshelves on top and cabinets below. We were flexible on timing, but Ken gave an approximate completion date and stuck to it. He kept us updated on progress with pictures and email and double-checked details like finish.
The installation went smoothly and now we have a beautiful new cabinet  that greatly improves the looks and storage capacity of our little house.
I would certainly recommend K. Alger Construction and Woodworking for other jobs.

  • It went absolutely excellent. He's efficient, and he takes care of everything he does including clean up. He doesn't hurry, and he explains everything he does which made the process much easier for us.

  • We spent $ 2000 on that work. They provided me with an estimate before they started on the project. We decided to use them because they have done work for us in the past and it was excellent. We continue to use them also because they know our house and they are reliable and do excellent work. We would tell other members that they are excellent in doing quality work.

  • The kitchen paint was peeling and stained, the cabinet door hinges, those accursed Europen type, were loose and broken and one upper cabinet door fell off and hit me in the leg causing pain and swelling. I even had to get a sonogram of my leg. None of my "handy" friends could fix this door. At this point I consulted Angie's List and decided to try a2z Renovations. They did an excellent job and in the middle of the project my wife's mother became seriously ill and we had to take in her invalid father who is walker and wheelchair bound. My split-level home is awkward for an invalid, and I asked Richard Bonvegna, the company owner, if he could install a railing to help my Father-in-law get up the stairs from the living area to the bed and bathroom area. Amazingly he came the next day and built a very strong and safe railing before my Father-in-law even arrived. I will be everlastingly grateful to him. The job was finished beautifully, the murderous door was secured and squared. The painters were meticulous and very neat and even swept out my messy garage when they were done.Richard even baby sat my beagle while he finished the final project details. This is a first-rate, quality company who act as though they were your friends.

  • They were pretty good. I have recommended them to several other people and those people have already used them. They did a fantastic job. They were very quick, clean and professional. I had no complaints about them at all. They did the job at a good price. I got several quotes. They should have been cheaper, but they came with professional crew and their price was the lowest I got compared to anybody else. I was very happy since I got my money?s worth. The quality of their work and windows was excellent. They had a crew of 4 to do the roof. They stripped it and then laid down the ice protector on the edges. They then cleaned out the gutters. They also cleaned up after themselves pretty well. They were very good at what they did. They had another guy come in for the windows. I was kind of shocked that there was only 1 guy and I couldn?t believe the work he did. He did the work of 3 all by himself. He installed 13 windows in 2 days. He was amazing. He did extra work too like installing air conditioners in the windows. He cut out block wood and put it on the top of the windows. It was for safety purposes. They caulked everything. They even had to make a new sill in the kitchen because I went from 2 windows to 1 sliding window. It was an excellent job. They also put the finished trim on the outside. Everyone we recommended them to have been happy with them. I would use their services in the future too.
