    EPK Construction Services Inc
This job was completely done professionally. The owner was on site and foresaw everything. I am completely happy and would recommend to anyone. The website will not allow me to post photos for some reason.

    Bill's Construction Inc
Contacted Bill's construction in July 2016. Bill gave a quote to not only repave my driveway but expand it. The driveway was originally 10 feet wide by 50 feet in length. the driveway is now 20 feet wide and 50 feet in length. Bill contacted me with the date he expected to come down. He arrived about an hour early and completed the job in one afternoon. Paid the quoted price for the job. Does quality work!

    narragansett improvement
I got 4 bids because it's a huge job. We're a condominium association and we are a non-profit company in the state of Rhode Island so anything above a certain amount of money we have to go to bid with. I found them by going out to bid. They were next to the bottom of the barrel and then the board and I, I'm the president of the board, we sat down and we discussed it. I did my research and find about who they are and what they are because now we've narrowed in on who we're going to choose but we want to make sure that they have a good enough reputation for us. I did a little investigation on who and what they are and then I started asking around to find out what they know about them and I got a lot of positive feedback from a lot of vendors that I worked with and that's how I came to hire them. It has been great.

    John Cooper Asphalt Paving
Given this company's good profile on Angie's List, this was the first place we called for an estimate. I emailed and the very next day, John gave me a call back himself and set up a time for an estimate for the following day. He showed up on time, and gave me a quick and professional estimate as well as a full explanation of what he would be providing for the price. Our driveway at the time was crumbling and had not been redone for about 30 years insofar as we could tell so a complete overhaul was needed. We have a fairly long driveway as well as some random concrete edging which had been installed and then poured over some time before we purchased the house. John noted that he would rip these out as well included in the price. After his estimate, I tried repeatedly to get in touch with other driveway contractors with little result; many did not even respond. We did receive one other quote which was about $350 higher than John's and did not include everything that John's quote had and we decided to go with John Cooper. Once we called, he was able to fit us in for the next week, he reconfirmed early that week, and showed up as promised on the day of. He and his crew finished the job well and cleanly and gave us advice on care. Overall, it was a good and professionally done job and I would certainly recommend this company.

    Larry Torti Paving
Larry called to let us know they were on their way and arrived promptly at the scheduled time. Each crew member seemed to have a specific job they were responsible for and Larry and the crew all seemed to have a routine.

The work was carried out almost uneventfully with the exception of a stubborn tree root that was uncovered when they removed the old driveway. The crew worked around the root until our arborist arrived (within the hour) to ground the root down. The crew continued and completed the work with no further interruptions.

Larry is an interesting and "old-school", no-frills kinda guy. He may come across as gruff but it's just his sense of humor - he's a character. However, he is happy to negotiate and work with you according to your budget. He doesn't seem to be the type to give you ideas, he seems more like the type that wants to give you exactly what YOU want. I provided him with a sketch and physically showed and explained to him what we wanted done. Once everything was perfectly clear, it was done and it was done they way I pictured it.

I personally like to do business by covering all my bases. Larry runs (in relative terms to large corporations) a small business and he will give you a written estimate, if requested. I prefer a contract, so we took the estimate, added signature/name/date lines for the home-owners and for him. We made a copy to keep on file, sent him the original, asked for it to be signed and returned and it was - immediately. After the job was completed and Karen arrived to collect the check, we wrote the check number on our contract, wrote Paid In Full and asked her to sign it and she did. She actually seemed impressed that someone would go through all that trouble but recognized that it was smart business.

Overall, the crew was a normal crew of guys installing a driveway. They worked together well, no screaming and were simply nice guys. As I said, Larry's a character and some might be put off by his joking and tendency to want to chat but ultimately, it didn't affect the job getting done.

From my personal homework, I am not expecting this driveway to last forever. In fact, it may collect water and even wash away a bit - but that can happen with Macadem. It can also happen with asphalt or blacktop if there's enough flooding. My goal wasn't a forever thing - it was to replace the old eyesore with the anticipation that it should last around 15 years. The good thing is that another coating of the stone chips can always be applied to the base, which was solidly installed.
