  • The staff is wonderful and knowledgeable.  Elizabeth Murdock is a great vet.  She is compassionate and diagnoses things very well and finds cost affective alternatives which I appreciate very much. Their prices are a bit high but well the worth the money.

  • We loved this animal hospital until it was bought out by a big national veterinary corporation.  Since then the service has been declining, the add on services required to get something done have been increasing, and the prices have been jacked up. Today for the first time we were told that it was necessary for our dog to be evaluated by the doctor ($50) in order for a urine culture ($61, up from $45) to be done,  Before, we could drop off the urine specimen w/o the added doctor fee. Many of the other fees and prices have gone up and several of the doctors we liked have left.  Although I do like the staff there, we will be looking for a new vet.

  • AWFUL. This was the 3rd appointment (2nd follow-up) to clear a yeast infection in the ear. Only after the fact, upon my inquiry, was I informed that there were other treatment options. This information would have been REALLY helpful at the onset... as it turned out, that other treatment would have been cheaper, leading me to wonder if efficacy is secondary to profit for this company.
I wish I could say this was an isolated incident. In the time since the founder of this veterinary clinic retired (a year?), the quality of service has been in rapid decline. The staff are disappointingly cold, and the doctors show little genuine interest/ concern for the pets.
Needless to say, I will not be returning for the recommended 3rd follow-up...  and will be transferring to another veterinary clinic immediately.
Office Manager DID call to follow-up on my reasons for leaving the practice approximately one week after asking to have my records transferred elsewhere. When I shared reasons for leaving, she was not surprised in the least, but was apologetic.

  • The staff there is knowledgeable, professional, compassionate, pleasant, and patient. On the first visit we were informed of our options and the costs right up front. We were allowed to make our decisions based on the facts, outcomes and costs without feeling any judgement. We were told that our dogs life expectancy with the new meds would be 4 months to a year. We had a wonderful extra 6 months with her then sadly had to bring her back. Again we were treated with respect, honesty, and compassion. They helped us say and quot;good byeand quot; and allowed us time to spend with our beautiful girl. We received a nice note from them afterwards with a paw print. They made a very difficult time a bit easier. We'd use them again without question.

  • I have been taking my dog to VCA Povar over four years since I moved to the area.  The experience started out well but I have noticed an incredible decline in service as of late.  The staff is less than personable.  During my last several visits I was appalled by the lack of service, professionalism, assistance, and general good manners by the staff (not the doctors).  I am used to Vets that know your first name and your Dog's name the minute you walk in.  If you like to feel like you are a bother for a service you are paying for then, by all means, enjoy.
I will be finding a new Vet.

  • How did it go? This is how it went: After bringing all three of my pets to Povar for several years (and waiting between 30-60 minutes for every scheduled appointment), this is way they deemed appropriate for my cat's life to end. Thanks for everything, Dr. Povar.

  • I bring my kitties in at the appointed time, it takes around 2 hours, they call me and I pick them up. Simple as that. No problems EVER.
