  • Jay and his team did a great job! My house had a lot of old electrical wiring (including some exposed wires, and old knob & tube wiring), so it was quite the project. Their workmanship was really impressive, well-done, and everything you want to see in a quality electrical job; clean & straight & organized wire runs, electrical & data cables ran separately (to reduce noise), good coverage of light & power sources, and just an overall well-organized and structured layout. The difference is night and day in my before/after. The only potential small negative is that of the four electrical estimates I gathered, his was the highest (though only marginally). But, on the flip side, it seemed to be more accurate and true-to-life of the final costs, and he had a much more organized plan & approach than the others. He and his team work very quickly, but still put out quality work and cleaned up everything after they were done to leave it all in better condition than it started. I personally tested every outlet/fixture/light/breaker after they finished, and there wasn't a single issue. And that's despite me buying a large amount of 'smart devices' that were pretty unconventional. Overall a great experience.

  • John, the owner of the company, was very prompt--I could set my watch by his arrival. He changed the oil and filter, checked the battery and transfer switch, and updated the software and settings. He was friendly and professional. I will continue to use the company for future maintenance.

  • I purchased the big deal.  The job overall went pretty well.  The guy did a pretty good job with the installation.  I did require a return visit because he didn't wire one of switches correctly and so it wasn't allowing me to turn the light on for both rooms.  He had to return and wire it correctly and then it worked for both lights.  I thought that he did good work but the only thing is when they did do the return visit I thought it would be under warranty but they ended up charging me.  I had to go through the process of talking to them and then they realized it wasn't the warranty and sent me a check.  It was not that I was dissatisfied with the service because stuff like that happened but it was a literal inconvenience to send them a mail as to what was not supposed to be charged and have them refund it.

  • Peter and Randy from B&K showed up on time and were very professional and did an outstanding job organizing the new panel.  They had to move my FIOS panel to make room for the larger electrical panel so they installed a larger back board to give me plenty of room. They also did additional work that I had not expected them to do.  They added a light near the box and an outlet next to the FIOS unit for the battery backup.
I will be calling B&K to do some more work for me in the near future.

  • The deal was for one hr. of work and whole home inspection. The man who came was only here a half hour and looked around very quickly and would not have looked at every outlet unless I showed him. He did not look at any outlets in basement. I have washer/dryer hooked up as well as 3 lights without covers in basement. I was told it would cost $400 or so to have 2 guys come for 2 hrs to put a few new outlets in my home. He did look at outside outlets. I feel he was not here the full time. He did replace one outlet that was loose and would not work. I feel as though he was too quick to leave and did not do a very thorough inspection of full house.      I was scheduled for 8:30-9:30am but was asked if they could come later at 9:30-11am. I agreed. I received a call saying the man who was coming to my home was in Exeter and was running late and would come in about an hour or hour and a half. I was also disappointed in this. The time kept being moved to later. I did not receive any paperwork from the man who came with all things checked off that were supposed to have been done. I saw the paper for a home inspection and it read $59. The man took it and put in under other papers on his clipboard. I was left with no paperwork and he did not take paper I had about the deal I purchase. I felt as though he really rushed and did not do a thorough inspection. Not happy with deal I received.

  • They were very good about working around me weird schedule, and very professional. HE came and walked through the house with me so I could explain what I wanted, and on the day the work was performed they were they right on time and worked steadily until the job was done. They cleaned up after themselves.
It was a very good experience, and they will be my go-to electricians from here onwards.

  • Mr. Charron was prompt. He was able to fit into a small crawl space. He actually asked me to go up to the attic to check out the wiring. He explained the process very clearly. Most of the knob and tube wiring had already been cut so it wasn't connected to any electrical outlets. There were two areas where knob and tube wiring was live so he placed boxes around the wiring. He was very professional. I would definitely use his services again.

  • Tripped a circuit breaker, and smoke was pouring out of the panel.  Called Jay at 7:45a in the morning, and he was there by 8:30a.  Luckily, it was a bad breaker and some loose wires.  He showed up when he said he would (to the minute), and quickly fixed the issue.

  • As noted in the "Services Performed" section, trying to locate old bell wires inside walls that are now hidden by new sheetrock is almost always an exercise in futility---in this case, as is often typical, the walls have to be cut open, and various pieces of sheetrock have to be cut out in what turned out to be an irregular wall, and unfortunately, two key bell wires were never located, in a system that had been functioning perfectly for many years-----the only alternative at this point is to run new wires from the front door bell switch, the rear doorbell switch, and have them all converge at a convenient point where a step-down 12v small transformer can be installed to power the system.
However, the electricians persevered, and with their expertise, and the homeowner's knowledge of the available wiring runs and main panel electrical switching, the job was done in an additional 1 1/2 hours to the complete satisfaction of everyone.
A callback was required the following day at 9 a.m. , when it was discovered that the electricians had wired the 120v line to a switchable receptacle box in the boiler room (an understandable mistake)----so when the boiler room lights were turned off (as they normally are) the doorbell system wouldn't work-----the electrician company was prompt in answering the call & scheduled a prompt callback appointment the same day to quickly re-wire the 120 line to a non-switchable source voltage.
So there you have it----a 4-hour job to get a hard-wired functional doorbell system for the cost of $436 in a house that's close to 100 years old----was it worth the price paid?   Despite the expense, I'm well satisfied that for me, I made the right decision on this deal-----as the homeowner, I was directly involved in all phases of this two-day project; the electrician company consists of a very experienced, professional middle aged man and his 3 sons, also very experienced & professional who were all in & out of the house at various times during the work activities---they  welcomed my assistance in identifying wiring runs & main panel arrangements, and I enjoyed working with them---in fact, I had a blast.
I'm just not a fan of wireless doorbells, but they're improving all the time, and I'm sure there are units out there that can operate on a 120v household voltage with a step-down transformer to a 12v system that doesn't have to rely on batteries, and can be installed on a DIY basis, or for much lower cost by an electrician----the time & labor of running wires thru walls and floor joists is what drives the installation costs up so high for this type of project, and I don't think in most cases there is any need for it.

  • I called David last night after finding him here on Angie's List - he happened to have time this afternoon - and as planned, he called after his 1st job and then came right over. This in itself amazed me! He quickly and neatly completed the 'change-outs' at my house. I then talked to him about another (larger) electrical problem/project I have and he was very thorough, and knowledgeable about getting all the information to give me an estimate. Which he said he could get to me later this week or weekend. Then he followed me to my mother's house, where he (again) quickly and neatly changed her doorbell system. he explained what he thought caused the problem and showed me exactly what he meant.. very knowledgeable and willing to explain it to me (which I liked a lot). Throughout this entire process he was very honest, kind, considerate (my pets were being a bit of a pain- he was great with them!) and personable, chatting while he worked. I would not hesitate to hire him again and will recommend him to all my family and friends!!
