Initial encounter was fine. Nick returned my call and picked up my snowblower. We did the repairs and returned it. Nice guy. The next time I used it, it stopped propelling within one minute. It took several calls to get him to return my call. He repaired the problem at no charge. The next time I used it, it exhibited more problems with the self-propulsion. He didn't return two phone calls. I give up. I thought I'd found a great local guy to service my snowblower. I don't know why he doesn't return my calls. I was always polite and paid promptly in cash. I'm very disappointed. I'll find someone else.

He was great to work with. I needed additional work done and he gave a great price. He was very professional and the work was very quick as he did it within a couple of days. He was courteous and knowledgeable. I cannot say enough good things about him.

It went great!  A $770 job with a 35-year Snapper veteran turned into an $85 job with Chris.  The engine of my mower was producing white smoke after running for a while.  A Veteran Snapper repair guy told me both over the phone and after looking at the mower that I needed a new engine.  It was knocking he said plus the smoke.  I am not a total idiot with engines and didn't believe him so I took it back with no work being done.
I found Chris on AL and called him.  He came out a few day's later, took some time to check out my mower and determined that the engine was fine; no knocking and just needed an easy carb tweak.  The smoke was from oil leaking through the valve cover gasket on to the exhaust.  He fixed that quickly, then leveled the deck and lubed some fittings.
He said even if the engine did die that he could replace with a good used one for less than half of the new quoted by the other guy.
He took the broken post home and welded it up and I picked it up the next day.
The things I liked most are the House visits and the fact that Chris's first inclination wasn't to do work that wasn't needed.

While snowblowing, I heard a loud pop and the tractor stalled.  I was able to re-start it again, but it sounded pretty bad, so I called Chris.  He had some guesses over the phone, but said he needed to come and take a look.  He came to the house and took the valve cover off and found the issues.  He went away to do some research on the engine to determine the best course of action (rebuild, replace, etc.).  He called back and said it would be a lot cheaper to fix it and gave me an estimate of $250 - $350.  He came and took the engine out of the tractor and brought it back to his shop to fix.  A few days later, he returned with it, installed it and changed the oil.  He came in well within the estimate and the tractor is runnng fine now.  He told me that the oil drain

This entire experience was a throwback to a better time. Over the weekend the auger on the snowblower froze up. On Monday morning I found Chris Gorton's name on Angie's list. I called and the cll was forwarded to Chris on the road. Hr offered to come to the house after his last scheduled call at 4PM. Fifteen minutes before 4 he called to say he was delayed by complications and would not arrive until 5PM if that was OK. He arrived right at 5. Within ten minutes he diagnosed and fixed the problem with the auger. He then proceeded to tune the engine which was running roughly. He had to disassemble and reassemble the carburetor three times cleaning all the air jets before he discovered a problem with the linkage and fixed it. He wrapped up at 7. All of this in a cold unheated garage. His fee was what he quoted to me at the beginning. The entire experience was among the best I have had . I would recommend Chris Gorton's without qualification.

Chris came to my house to service my snowblower.  He came the same day I called.  It took him about an hour to repair it.  When finished, he returned it to the place I store it and covered it back up for me.  He also explained what was wrong with it.  He was very professional and courteous.  I would definitely hire him again.
