"We found this cabinet maker's logo on the cabinets in our home which we bought a couple of years ago. I wanted to increase the cabinet space in my kitchen so" I figured it made the most sense to have someone from this company come out and give an estimate. The cabinets that had been done earlier seem to be of very good quality. After not responding to a request through their website I called to setup an appointment. Someone came out to take a look at different options and the ballpark quote was significantly higher than I expected. We discussed making up an official quote making a cabinet next to the fridge but I never heard back from him.

"We are renovating our kitchen and saw that this company had a "Big Deal" to draw up plans for $49.00. I bought the deal and scheduled an appointment for" someone to come out and measure my kitchen. The gentleman came out and measured I told him exactly what I wanted and where I wanted everything. He said he would get back to us in a day or two. But said that we should go out to his showroom in Clearwater and pick out doors and hardware so he could give us a quote on them doing the work. I told him that I already had all my appliances purchased and that we would do all the tear out. They gave me a call in a few days and had the plans drawn up, they e-mailed me the plans and there were no measurements for cabinets or anything. I e-mailed and told them the plans went right as I had a double wall oven, not a single range. They said they would fix it no big deal. We made plans to go to the showroom the next day. When we got there on Saturday there was a woman there and she had redone the plans still no dimensions on them. I asked why no dimensions. She said that they don't give any measurements until they have a signed contract.. And then handed me an estimate for almost $23,000.00. Saying I was shocked is an understatement. I told her that the estimate seemed really high and that my neighbor had got her kitchen done for $16,000.00 with Appliances. She said "well do you know who did it?" This really caught me off guard. I felt like she was being very snide. She also told me that whoever I use should be able to do the measurements. I said I thought I paid you all to do my measurements. So just a warning do not be fooled. I thought I was paying for a set of plans, but what really happens is that if you don't use them you get no plans, you get drawings with no measurements of any kind. I could have drawn up my design on a piece of paper for no money. There was no pictures of what the kitchen would look like shown to us, just some black and white drawings. I find this highly deceptive. The Big Deal should clearly state that you only get plans if you use them. And their prices are way out of line in my opinion. So what I am left with for $49.00 which is supposedly valued at $500.00 is pictures of my kitchen. I would really like a refund, and please fix your advertising to state what people are really getting for their money.

Not really.  If the contractor is very careful and you are really lucky he might be able to pull them out and then reinstall them after the new cabinets are installed.  A lot of this will have to do with how well the counters were installed in the first place.  Also, the existing countertops may not line up with the new cabinets exactly in some areas as well as they do now.  The better option is to have the cabinets refaced, leaving the boxes and tops in place.  Unlless you have deteriorating particle board cabinets you should be able to get a carpenter to do this.  If you decide to remove the countertops and install new cabinets factor in new tops and be pleasantly surprised if they can be reinstalled afterall.  Realize you probably won't find a contractor willing to gurantee not damaging the tops.  If you do, dig in and research him well.  He likely doesn't have enough experience.

IF dirty enough to make for a musty odor, then paint won't stick to them properly anyway. Paint is not your solution - you probably need a Deep Cleaning. Try to pin down what types of smell it is - if damp, mildewy; rotten food; or musty fabric - will help guide you to the source maybe. Another thing to do is keep all doors closed for a full day when outside temp is such that furnace and A/C can be turned off - then walk around the house, sniffing - preferably with 2 people - and see if one room is the major contributor. I have played this game, and found all the following as sources of musty smells: 1) linen in a closet without ventilation going slightly mildewy 2) water leak in walls or floors enough to cause mold but not drywall staining or visible water 3) carpets needing cleaning 4) water leak in bath or kitchen leaking under floor, causing mold there which is not pronounced in smell because under the flooring 5) attic mildew/mold from leaks or moisture condensation on insulation/wood 6) moldy plants outside - left in garden/flower bed in fall, so rotted in winter/spring 7) clothes in closets touching outside wall, so in very cold weather acted as insulator and let freezing front come to inside of wall, causing frost and moisture to buildup there from the inside moisture, eventually causing mildew/mold (same process as condensation/ice on inside of windows with curtains over them) 8) failure to clean behind kitchen appliances and under sink, or under washer/dryer/dishwasher at least when repaired or changed out 9) heavy lint accumulation in bathroom fan going mildewy 10) grease trap in kitchen exhaust fan never cleaned 11) washing machine going moldy - run a cycle of towels or such with bleach and Borax 12) the number one cause I have found - clothes stacked in closets or hope chests or such for decades get very musty even if clean and ventilated

As long as the counter is big enough Corian is one of the easier ones to work with. Since it does not have the ground or crushed stone that some of the other material have you can work with normal woodworking tools. A saw with a fine tooth carbide blade and a professional grade router with the proper shaped carbde bit can be used if the edge needs finishing. A belt sander helps on cuts also. The only problem you might have is if you need the joint kits for seaming as I dont think you can buy them.

When Corian first came out I could buy the slabs and fabricate my own tops and then Dupont went to a certified distributor system and would no longer sell to those of us that had been working with it for years. I will admit that they did have reasons for this as not all that were working with the product were doing it right.

We wanted additional counter space, so we decided to invest in an under counter microwave drawer. Unfortunately, we had no place to locate an under cabinet microwave, so the drawer option was the best route. I found a great price on a Sharp unit, and ordered it.
We then set out to determine where to put it. We were looking at building new cabinets as an addition to our island. I contacted several companies, and most said the job was too small for them. However, when I spoke with
Cumberland Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
at
Cumberland Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, he noted that while the job might seem small, he'd be happy to take it on.
He came to our home for an initial visit. Considering he's in Lawrenceville and we are in East
Cumberland Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, that's no easy feat. When he looked at our idea of extending our island, he commented that we should tape off the area in question and see how would be to basically "pretend" there were cabinets there. Turns out that was a great idea because we realized we didn't want to

the floor space after a day of living with the tape.

and I both had the same idea for where the microwave could go. The cabinet on one end of our island was the right width if it could be modified. It was a typical base cabinet with a drawer above two doors. The inside of the doored area housed two shelves.
Cumberland Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
came back out and measured the cabinet and reviewed the installation instructions for the microwave. He determined he could make it fit. He'd have to make a few trim pieces to get the opening the right size. He also included a new drawer to go below the microwave after the installation.
He took a drawer front with him to match stain and drawer style. A few weeks later, he emailed saying the cabinet was ready, and we arranged an install date. He and his crew showed up on time, and they went to work.
I am simply amazed at how well the job turned out. The pieces they had to make match perfectly in style and stain color to the existing cherry cabinets. Plus, the drawer he built is really a thing of beauty in and of itself, and he even included the soft close drawer glides at no additional expense above his estimate.
When I installed the microwave, it fit perfectly, and it looks like the cabinet was always this way.
Cumberland Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
and his crew are truly craftsmen, and I would not hesitate to use them for any future cabinet or bookcase job.

provided us with a CD of photos of their past projects, and the variety of work is amazing: desks, tv cabinets, bookcases, kitchens, baths..you name it.

Having worked with many vendors as I remodeled my kitchen, Pat was one of the most punctual, professional and polite of all. He is truly an 'unfound' diamond in the
Cumberland Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
area. The product is excellent and he always delivered on his promise of when he would call, when he would install, and how long it would take. He is an example of old time craftsmanship and customer service. Wish there were more of him around! At every opportunity I show off my kitchen organizer trays to anyone who is interested and eagerly endorse him and his products.

This contractor does install work for Lowes and Home Depot. Our experience with
Cumberland Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
and his staff was limited to phone calls in which we were trying to set up our cabinet install and while we decided not to use Lowes for our Kitchen remodel, we felt that we should comment on the professionalism of the installer. Lowes had told us that the installer could come out and measure our kitchen for the renovations that we were planning after hours. However, when we spoke to the installer's office, we were told that was not correct, but that she would speak to the contractor to see if he may reconsider. After some phone tag, we did finally speak to the installer
Cumberland Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
directly. We tried to explain that we had planned time off work for the install but could not take off time for the measurement piece and we work too far away to meet up for lunch. At which point he responded that our "life experiences" are not his concern and that he only could only do the measuring during normal business hours. Again, if that is his business model, this is his affair, but his unprofessional attitude and comments during our conversation made us very uneasy and we felt that any further dealings with this installer might be regrettable.

One thing I really liked during this whole process is that
Cumberland Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
would show you everything he completed at the end of the day and let you understand what he was doing and what he is about to do. Also if he had style suggestion he would bring me over and ask what I preferred and what he suggested. I had a wonderful experience overall and I would highly recommend his services to anyone looking to do a carpentry project.

This master contractor carpenter/designer is timely, efficient, reasonably priced, trustworthy, and above all, highly skilled. The built in cabinets look like high priced furniture. I live in an old
