    AJ Drywall & Plastering
This was our 1st time needing damage - repair services, thus our first time working w/ Joe & his crew. Joe made for a greatly stress-reduced situation. Results still hold - 9 years later. Called him to work the other end of house 6 years later. All is good. Now, we are preparing for a voluntary remodel in kitchen. Who are we going to call? Joe-wall-busters!!! That's who!!! I hope you are still working it Joe!

    Calyx Homes Ltd
I have waited for a year to leave this review simply because we had such horrible experience with another contractor 10 years ago that I wanted to make sure nothing fell apart after a couple of seasons. I can now say with all confidence that the renovations Calyx completed on our house were/are exemplary. When it comes to renovations, you get what you pay for and Calyx exceeded all of our expectations. The owner Bob Brierley is extremely professional. He's local and very knowledgeable about old (1914) finicky New England houses and was patient and gave honest answers to all of our questions. Our renovation was completed quickly and on time. He worked with us to stay within our budget, provided us with a full written contract stipulating exactly what they were going to do and when each phase would be completed - and they did everything they said they were going to do. He also provided all his insurance documents which gives you piece of mind. Our foreman Jim, was amazing and a pleasure to have in our home. For ten years we were so afraid of having any work done because we were one of those families you hear about that lived through a hellish renovation that went on forever and ended up costing over 5 times what we had budgeted for, just to have it fall apart within a few years. This will NOT be the case if you hire Calyx. Right from your first contact with Kathy Macchioni in the office you will be pleasantly surprised. We highly recommend Calyx Builds, Bob Brierley and his team for any renovation or new building project you may be considering. They did a fabulous job. Expect to pay a little more than the other quotes you may gather but they're worth every penny. You truly do get what you pay for.

    The House Doctor Inc
He was very helpful.  He was good.  The price and his professionalism were good.  He was better by phone than email.  He did email me a quote.  He was very prompt getting back through phone messages than emails.  It was fine once I figured that out.  He was really cool with the last minute changes that I wanted.  He was very accommodating for those changes.

They were great and they were awesome. They did a fantastic job. It was great. He was better than some people that I have used locally. He's the first one from Angie's List that I have used. He gave me a great price. He was really great to work with. I would totally recommend them. He was just very prompt. He's really easy to work with and he's very professional. He was really familiar with all the things I was asking him to look at and do. He's confident. As soon as I met him, I knew it would happen. I'm going to hire them again. They were right on time and they did everything all in one day.

    New England Insulation Co Inc
I purchased a deal under the Big Deals $279 for 500 sq ft of insulation.  Scheduled an appointment with Dennis and he came in and measured.  My area was a bit bigger than the deal alotted for so the overall price quoted was more if I wanted an additional few inches as well, which he recommended.
He also recomended that I look into getting an energy assessment from National Grid as well which would help cover the cost.  He said I could hold off on the work until I got that done and he would credit me the $279 I already paid or I could get a refund from Angie's List.  I am still trying to get the assement scheduled but once I do I will definately give consideration to New England Insulation because they were honest upfront with the cost and some additional options even if it meant delaying the work.

    Eco Energy Guard LLC
    Comprehensive residential insulation project:
Throughout the process and up to the final results, this was an  O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G  J-O-B   carried out by conscientious professionals with extraordinary attention to detail.
My wife, son and I could not be more pleased with the quality of the insulation project in the attic and basement of our Victorian southern New England home.  Bill Brown listened carefully to exactly what we wanted, told us that everything we asked for was possible, and then delivered on his commitment.  What a rare and pleasant experience in this age of slap-dash, in-and-out-as-fast-as-possible contractors.
The attention to detail of their hard-working team (we had Dean, Devan and Bill, the company owner) yielded precisely the results we had hoped for.  The job has certainly more than met our expectations. The high standards of both materials and installation were top-notch.  The entire family agrees  that their efforts are worth every penny and we look forward to reaping the rewards of their tireless labor through a warmer home (in winter) and cooler environment (in summer) and, of course, reduced heating and cooling bills in the months ahead.
We are delighted to publicly thank Bill and his crew for completing our project on budget, with exceptional, courteous service, very high quality materials and, of particular concern to us, within the agreed-upon time frame.
The state-of-the-art reflective residential insulation materials (all fabricated in the USA) were delivered in advance ready for immediate use in the project upon the crew's arrival.  From the time they arrived to the time they cleaned up and departed, they all worked non-stop!  The guys worked steadily, with no loud music or trivial banter:  they just got stuck into the work and stayed with it until everything was completed.
Each step of the project was explained to us in advance and the company did not deviate from the plan.  No hype.  No unfulfilled promises.  When I strolled through the project areas, they welcomed me and enthusiastically demonstrated each stage of the project and the rationale for it.
This company is thoroughly ethical and trustworthy.  We would definitely hire them again and recommend them unreservedly to Angie's List members (and will do so to our friends and neighbors as well).
The company earns a very solid "A."  Theirs will not be the cheapest quote you will get.  But the value for money quotient is high. That old adage, "You get what you pay for," certainly holds true in this case.  We firmly believe that we got what we paid for... and then some.
The installation is among the very best I have seen in any home.

    Ecologic Spray Foam Insulation Inc
The estimate was clear and alternatives were clearly explained; we choose the closed cell foam for its strength and because it left additional space behind the knee-walls. They arrived on time, were friendly and personable, worked efficiently, patted our dogs, took the time that was necessary, left the work area cleaner than they found it, did an excellent job and were properly proud of their work. The quality of the work was apparent in the smooth finishes. We can already feel the difference with the additional insulation. Highly recommended!

    Garcia Home Improvement
I had many jobs that I needed to have done.  I typed them up and gave them to James when he responded quickly to my request for contractor/handyman.  He gave me an estimate overnight and after a week and a half of work, I just paid him.  It was a $100 less as  I deleted one item.
They showed up when he said they would be there.  They fixed the kitchen first as it was the only urgent thing and  was the biggest.  I needed the dishwasher and garbage disposal installed correctly as they had been installed badly.  I wanted a new counter and new sink.  They found that they could use the cabinet so that did not need to be ripped out.  They had to build the counter as I wanted black mat laminate and it would have to be a special order and I was in  a hurry to get it done.  They did it all and it all works and no leaks in the basement.  I also asked for two shelves with an edge (to stop things from falling off) running the whole length over the counter and dishwasher.  James tiled a back splash up to the lowest shelf.  All done.  It looks as I hoped it would and is all cleaned up and super.
They also took out some old ac units that had been installed 20 years ago or so through the walls.  Patched the wall inside and out with wallboard and siding.  They also thought to put insulation in the space and I was happy as I had not requested it so they just did it correctly on their own.  The siding was matched as closely as one can match 20 year old siding.  The new wallboard and tape is painted and looks great.
I needed a outside light.  The previous "handyman" had disconnected some wiring and no switch appeared to go the back door light.  My present "real" handymen figured out how to set up the light with a motion detector.  I really did not want to pay for a whole rewiring thing so was very pleased.
I also wanted two new light fixtures put up - living room and dining room,  All done.
I could not be more pleased with the work.  I did not feel that they had two or three other things going on and fit me in when they felt like it.  I know this can happen and I am happy to say that they worked on my job steadily until it was done.
