  • We had an excellent experience with Rob and his team. He arrived when he said he was going to arrive and finished the job better than expected. This home was partially renovated prior to his arrival. He was hired to do the kitchen which came out terrific. His design gave the impression of a larger kitchen and the quality of the cabinets and granite was very nice. Prior to him arriving, paneling was replaced with drywall. This left assymmetic/wavy border lines where window and door trim had to be built. His team did a PERFECT job custom cutting all of the trim in order to make the project look finished. This took a lot of time, effort, and I imagine was VERY frustrating for his team. Despite this, they did a great job and had a great attitude. You would never notice going into the property now that there was ever an issue. I would recommend Rob and I would use him in the future.

  • I met with several contractors for this renovation before picking Rob Pearson's company.RI Design Build, Inc.   Very upfront and honest with how long it would take and what a realistic start date would be.  Proposed contract was professional, detailed and presented in person so we could review step by step each piece of the project.  All my questions and hesitations were addressed up front leaving no room for interpretation or gray area.  He respected my budget and presented all options and detailed costs if I wanted to adjust anything during the project.
We installed:  New floor tile, vanity, sinks, granite counter tops, hardware, HUGE tiled shower enclosed in frame less glass enclosure, rain head shower from the ceiling ect.
Every renovation or project encounters unexpected hurdles or speed bumps, what I LOVED about Rob is that he would call you every time a decision needed to be made about something that would affect the project "before" he would move forward.  He would explain the problem, give a few suggestions and ideas to work around it and detail any possible added costs involved.  Again very communicative during the entire process.  Extremely responsive!  At one point during the process I just said "you make the call, you are the professional and I very much trust your judgment to make it look wonderful".  That is how much trust I had in the company, they proved themselves within the first few days so I really did not worry at all about what the finished product would like.
We have completed the project, it looks amazing, it's exactly what I had envisioned from the beginning, we are extremely happy.  I have found a contractor for all my future projects no doubt.  It's a good feeling when you know you picked the right company for such a big investment and you feel very confident about all your future projects knowing such a skilled and competent group will execute your vision.
I have two projects I am excited to have them do later in the year.

  • First I'd like to say I did a LOT of research and visited a lot of granite companies; I know all about the variations between stones and lots of stones. I visited Luxus Granite many times prior to deciding on a granite. At one visit, they gave me a sample which I then took to various companies around the state looking for the best price and right slab. The reason I decided on Luxus was because the granite slabs they had in stock matched the sample I had been given and the price was good. I was assured by the sales person that all slabs in stock were from the same lot and would look the same as that top slab, however, my slab would most likely be the one on top anyway. I made a 50% deposit at the end of May.
When I called to schedule the template around the end of July, I was again assured by the sales person that my slab was the same one I had chosen in May. The template maker arrived at the time he was scheduled to arrive, and the install was scheduled for a week later, between 12:30 and 2 p.m. As my husband and I both work, we made arrangements to have off the afternoon of the install, and I asked for a call about 1/2 hour prior to them getting to the house so we could meet them at our house. Luxus tried calling me around 10 am when I was unavailable (nor was I prepared to leave work quite that early). I felt badly that they had been waiting and arranged to have my neighbor let them into my house while my husband drove home. I should NOT have done that; I should have made them wait until I got home. (It is our feeling that they knew the lot was different that what I purchased, and they wanted to get it done before we realized it, but I have no proof of that.) By the time my husband got home (1/2 hour), the install was finished. I arrived just a few minutes later and immediately knew that the granite was NOT the slab I had chosen; the shade was completely different. Had they arrived when they said, and had my husband or I been home, we would not have accepted the granite. After I refused to be convinced by the installer that it was the same shade, he finally called the company, took pictures and took part of the sample piece back with him. He acknowledged that Luxus had had that particular granite in stock a couple months back (which is when I selected mine), but they didn't have it in stock currently. They apparently sold all the slabs that were in stock when I deposited, and my slab was from a completely different lot (one I would have NEVER selected because I didn't like the color or the movement in it). After multiple conversations with Adrienne, I learned that it had been noted in my record that I had been back to the factory to approve the slab, but in fact, I hadn't been back to the factory since placing my deposit in May. In the meantime, the tile floor I had ordered to coordinate with the granite had been delivered and couldn't be returned, so I was dealing with multiple problems caused by a granite counter that I had not selected.
The company made an offer of a 15 year sealer to get me to keep the installed granite and they did have another slab delivered to the factory to see if it matched the color of the original granite (it did not). In the end, I kept the granite as I just became too tired and frustrated to keep looking, and I couldn't hold up the project any longer. Though we compromised on the final cost of the granite, the 15 year sealer warranty was taken off the table. I did have to return the tile for the floor, and start another search for both floor and backsplash tiles, which delayed the project even further.
I called Luxus a couple of weeks later to ask a question about sealing the granite and the response I received was curt. When I asked about a service call to round an edge because of a change we made to a cabinet, they wanted to charge $250 for something that I paid another granite fabricator $50 to do (it was a 10 minute job).
I learned shortly thereafter that two other friends of friends had similar issues with Luxus (granite counter fabrication) in the recent past.
In the end, I have granite counters that match my cabinets ok and I can live with but do not and quot;loveand quot;. The whole process with Luxus increased my stress level 10 fold and held up completion of the remodel by weeks.
Overall, the workmanship of the counter is pretty good, though at one end, the counter extends the cabinet by a 1/4 -1/2 inch more than the rest of the counter. The sink installation seems to be good as well. Luxus also had pretty good prices. IF you decide to contract with them, just be sure to visit the factory to confirm you're getting the slab you chose immediately before they begin the fabrication.

  • Started out okay, but quickly deteriorated. Had a full crew one day out of 5 for over two weeks. Usually it was just one guy who really, really was bad at what he was doing. In the end I had to throw them off the job and file a claim with RI Contractors Registration Board. They ruined my slate tiles by grouting before sealing, put the tiles above the shower in crooked and were going to leave me with a toilet that wasn't attached to a stable base. The finale was when the bathtub leaked into the kitchen below and I had to call a plumber to fix the terrible job they had done. That involved them opening up a hole in the kitchen ceiling. After all was said and done, I just accepted the crappy job in order to be done with it all. Too many problems to mention.

  • Bill came out to the house to measure for counter tops and gave me a very reasonable quote that he stuck to. Excellent service, communication and value.
