Garrety Glass - Betterliving Patio & Sunrooms
Everything went smooth and we were impressed by how well the salesman knew about the product. He is the reason we decided to go with them in the 1st place. The installers were also very professional and polite.

    Salazar Construction

I was very pleased with the outcome of services. I liked the fact it was not an hourly bill but a flat fee and they worked on Saturday and Sundays along with 10 hour days so we were not without the full use of our home for a long time which was a factor in deciding on this contractor.

Ron Reed is a craftsman of the old school.  He treats his projects as though they were for his own home, and does a superb job.  He and Lee go out of their way to make sure that everything is as perfect as possible, even if that means putting in extra work.  For example, getting the floor in the new sunroom to flow smoothly into the floor of the house proved to be a problem, because the sunporch floor had been at a different height than the house itself.  Using laser technology and a great deal of painstaking effort, Ron smoothed the new sunroom floor to a point where it and the house floor look just about perfect for each other.  My wife and I are extremely pleased with her new sunroom.

On a more personal note, Ron and Lee go out of their way to help on things, even if they are not being paid for it.  My wife had a very heavy desk delivered while they were working on the sunroom, and they jumped right in to help unpack the desk and move it up the front steps.  Ron also helps former customers who have physical handicaps, without any charge to them at all.

Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Harrisburg
After I contacted Champion Windows- Doors-Patio Rooms of Harrisburg via Angies List
And before even checking for a response (Roy did respond the same day)
I went to their web site, and read everything, all information Champion provided on line.
I took it upon myself to drive almost 60 miles round trip to go to their show room in Harrisburg.
When I was there that is when an appointment was made for Roy to come to my home.
Everything they claim about their products is true
They do in fact manufacture their products
When I was able to see first hand the quality of their Doors- Windows- Sunrooms, I to this day am speechless
I honestly had tears driving home, because when I compare their products to what was installed into my
home, words honestly can not describe the difference.
It will take Roy a week or so to be able to give me an estimate.
I look forward to doing future business with Champion of Harrisburg.
I wish I knew of Champion windows-doors- sunrooms prior
To imagine what my home will look like compared to now is very over whelming.
I thank Roy for taking so much of his time here at my home.
    Thank you again

With remodeling older homes, you never know what you are going to run into. Ron (Reed Construction) takes it all in stride and comes up with creative attractive solutions. For example in the kitchen the original cabinets had a bulkhead above them and the replacement cabinets go up to the ceiling. In removing the bulkhead he uncovered some unexpected plumbing. Ron made a few modifications that did not effect the final appearance or functionality of the cabinets. I am quite proud of what he did and enjoy showing off his workmanship. It is hard to describe, you have to see it, to appreciate it. My daughter designed the patterns for the tile floors in kitchen and bathrooms. We had an issue with the tiles being used in the kitchen. The smaller tiles were a different thickness than the larger tiles. Ron put down a layer of material where the thinner tiles were being placed making everything level. Now we have very attractive tile floors that are unique to our home.
The back deck and porch is now six years old and it is truly low maintenance. Pressure wash it once a year to keep it new looking. It does not require any paint.
Ron is very easy going, yet he starts and finish jobs on schedule. Ron is a person that makes everything come out the way you want it.

    Four Seasons Sunrooms/PAsunrooms, Inc.
This project was a major home addition. The Four Seasons team was quite professional from start to finish. The project was completed in the estimated time frame and with beautiful results. We have nothing but compliments on our sunroom. It is a most comfortable and relaxing environment. While more expensive than the designs of competitors, it is unique and well worth the investment.

    Patio Enclosures
The fact that the management team from Patio Enclosures tried to sell me on the idea that the inadequate construction of the first pad was going to work tells volumes about the ethics of this company. Eight months to build a 13x13 room addition is absurd. We were too deeply involved to get out of the situation and it would have cost us too much to do so. We trusted these people and they knowingly let us down. They will, undoubtedly, have excuses and reasons for all of the problems. The bottom line is that they are completely unprofessional and ethically questionable

    Sliver's Contracting LLC
We had problems with our basement getting water and flooding (1-2 inches) after every heavy rain. Our drywall was molding, the carpet needed replaced (twice), and the people we had out to look at the problem could not find where the leak was coming from. We were getting quite frustrated.
We then asked Sliver Contracting to come out and take a look. Kevin (the owner) took his time to trace the problem and found the problem with a prior remodel that hid an old window. Sliver contracting dug along the outside of the wall, bricked up the old window opening, and sealed the outside wall. In addition, we had him remodel the interior (new drywall, paint, and a new tile floor). We have been WATER FREE since the repair. Once I found out about Angie's List, I wanted to be sure to share my experience. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sliver Contracting!!!

    Appleby Systems Inc
This was the worst experience anyone could ever imagine
Before you even think about this company doing any work, check with your zoning office
    to find out about permits.
This company CLAIMS on their web site, on the contract you sign that they take care of all building permits.
This is a lie, They never obtained a building permit till March 2011.
This job began in Oct. 2010
To date we paid them $40,000.00 and they claim the work is complete.
I am including photos of what $40,000.00 get you
    .
They also CLAIM they do not use sub-contractors. This is a lie.
On the building permit, they must state any and all sub-contractors that might be used
Well, Appleby does in fact use sub-contractors. There are 2 listed on the building permit application.
They do not have experienced window-door installers
Their quality of work, product is NOTHING to what they claim.
At present we are under going legal issues with Appleby Inc.
I am going to do all I can to show just how unethical this company operates.
Every window they replaced must be taken out and new installed (12 windows)
Appleby employees NEVER placed insulation around any door or window they installed.
We are suffering from severe water damage to our house, both doors they installed , we have water leaking in each door, the front door we now can not even open or use. Appleby employe's were last here at our home Feb..23, 2011.
I am including photos of what the sun room looked like January 2011, Feb..2011 and also pictures after Appleby employe's were last here Feb.. 23, 2011. There were so many issues needing fixed and repaired and they promised to do so, But Feb..23, 2011 when they were last here, the way you see our home in the photos is how it is today June 2011. Appleby claim that they were unable to do anymore work following Feb..23, 2011 because they needed to wait for the building permit to be approved and a inspection by the township building code officer.
Of course none of this happen when the building permit was approved March 2011. We had to hire a attorney, because it was ovious Appleby was not going to repair anything, anything correct anyway. The photo of the upstairs back door , Appleby has now TRIED to repair this 3-4 different times, they claim Feb.. 23 it was repaired. The photos show Dec. 2010 rain and even March 6 2011 rain damage. (They installed the big picture window in the living room back words)
Our sun room is not even up to code. We must hire someone to tear this down and replace the whole thing.
I can keep going on & on with the unethical business pratices this company conducts it's self in.
But I am going to allow the legal system to do what is right and with any luck? I can save other people the emotional nightmare that to this day we suffer, and the on going damage our home continues to under go because of Appleby Inc. Appleby Windows Doors, Appleby Sun rooms.

    UPDATE DECEMBER 27 2011
As to date our total cost is well over $60.000.00
This includes $40.000.00 Paid to Appleby
Almost $8.000.00 to an attorney that I dismissed and no longer represents our case
$2,000.00 to a Structural engineer that was incompetent, and failed to include MAJOR Code violations in his report
And Appleby filing a judgement against us for $4190.00 + attorney fee's and court cost
At present a detailed report is being created for the Attorney General of Pennsylvania
Included in this complaint against Appleby is FACT that CRIMINAL wrong doing by the company is documented and the proper legal actions will be taken.
Our home remains in the condition it was in when this report was first created with added damages.
With the sunroom failing all codes, the structure (sunroom) continues to become more unsafe including electric not up to code, plus the water damage our home has suffered, the windows not being installed up to code.
Everything that is stated in this report is true and fact.
I hope anyone that reads this will do the right thing and walk away from this company.
IF you have had work done by this company? Go to your zoning office,
Make sure they did have building permits when work was done.
Request copies of the application for the building permit (They must give you a copy) your zoning office must give you a copy if you request one.
If there is none? Your enclosed porch-sunroom may be in violation of your building codes. Also MOST states to do such work, it is the LAW.The building permit MUST be applied for and the property inspected by a zoning officer or building code official BEFORE any work begins.
    IT WAS NOT DONE HERE.
Also on the application for building permit, ALL sub contractors MUST be listed on the application for building permit.
HEADS UP every where you read, on their web site, on your contract, information included in your contract
Appleby CLAIMS in writting (They DO NOT use sub contractors)
    THIS IS A LIE!

    Chesapeake Remodeling
A canvasser came into my neighborhood asking if I was interested in a quote for a deck or patio. I was interested and he scheduled an appointment for me with a sales person the following day. The sales person called me the next day to confirm my appointment and asked if my husband would be home. I advised that he would not and the salesman tried to cancel my appointment. When I asked him why...he said both homeowners need to be present during the sales presentation. When I tried to explain to the salesman that my husband is a very busy man and all he's going to be interested in is the structural integrity of the deck and escavation the saleman got beligerant and argumentative with me. He was very condescending telling me that he would have all that information for my husband at our initial meeting......which I knew just wasn't true. I then thanked him for his time and told him chesapeake wasn't for us and we'd spend our money elsewhere. He hung up on me. The next day I received a call from another sales person trying to reschedule me. I explained my story and asked that they remove me from their marketing list. Two months later I received eights calls from a sales person in their office in two days. I explained my story again and asked again to be removed from their marketing list. Three months later, almost to the day, I was called again by Chesapeake, I explained my story yet again and asked to be removed again from their marketing list. Two months after that, today actually, I received two calls from Chesapeake, I called back and asked to speak with a manager, the man on the phone, Tim, advised he was a manager and he could help me. When I started to tell him that I had no interest in his business doing any work in my home, he became argumentitive and beligerant and would not let me get a word in to even say please dont call me anymore. He kept telling me that the only way I could have gotten the number that I called in on, I must've had an appt. I was trying to explain to him I did have an appointment over 6 months ago, but canceled because of the way I was treated. When he wouldn't let me speak, I said to him, if your business calls me again, I will sue you for harrassment. He said and I quote "shut the h*** up, and hung up the phone." I do not recommend this crack pot business to anyone!!!! Steer clear! They must hire releases from an anger management rehab!
