Obgyn Care reviews in Wynnewood

I have been going to Women for Women since 1994 for annual gyn exams. I will write almost the same thing as another reviewer - the doctor's are very amicable and knowledgable (especially Andrea Kirsch) but the office staff has a lot to be desired. They seem to be very unorganized - always missing charts, forgotten appointments, etc. Regarding wait times, usually, I don't have to wait more than 15 minutues but my recent appointment was a different story. After waiting for 30 minutes, I asked the receptionist how much longer it would be - she checked and came back saying that it would be another 25 minutes! I told them to cancel the appointment and left. I am sorry, that is not acceptable. No apology, no advanced call to let me know that they were running an hour late, no update while I am sitting in the waiting room unless I had asked. I am seriously considering changing to another doctor because of my frustation with the office staff which was compounded by my last visit. In summary, good doctors but very unorganized.

Dr. Carlson was very warm and friendly and willing to sit down and lay out all the facts about my case and what the risks were. He told me honestly and let me ask as many questions as I needed. I left feeling like I had gotten the answers I needed.

I absolutely love my doctors at this practice. They helped me deliver 2 children and were extremely helpful and supportive of my decision to deliver without any intervention. Despite the fact that the practice is fairly far from my house and work, I still go to this practice because I appreciate my doctors here.

He is phenomenal. He is extremely patient, kind and very knowledgeable. He is a teaching doctor. He actually takes time with you instead of rushing you through the appointment. He moves forward with your wishes of how you want your pregnancy and birth to go. He is an amazing man.

The doctors and the quality of care are great... that is, when you finally get to see a doctor! I have had two dozen appointments there in the last three years, and have never gotten in and out in less than 45 minutes. It is typically a half hour wait just to get shown to the exam room. At my latest appointment, I waited one hour, and once even up to two and a half hours! The secretaries are professional, but not very courteous (e.g. keeping up conversations with colleagues, without acknowledging you, even as you wait in front of them to be helped). They also had trouble getting me a receipt for a previous visit, and I had to call the corporate office for Mainline Health and have them mail it to me. Overall, I warmly recommend the doctors at this practice, but be prepared for a less-than-stellar experience in the office.

It went very well. He always spends time with me, doesn't rush me out of the office and answers all my questions. I had a minor issue with my blood work and he spent the time to send me to correct doctor to find out what is wrong.

I was a maternity client with 1 cesarean birth in the past. I was lied to about the office not having the H1N1 vaccine when they did have it and I was lied to by Dr. Mory regarding the risk (she stated a 1% risk associated with a ruptured uterus that could end in loss of the baby) I would have if I wanted to pursue a vaginal delivery. I was NEVER told that there are ANY risks associated with having a repeat cesarean, although the risks in that situation FAR OUTWEIGH the risk of me suffering a catastrophic ruptured uterus during an attempt of a vaginal delivery. Moreover, the 1% statistic Dr. Mory stated includes apples and oranges in that women whose uteri showed a small "window" at some point along their scar -and not an intervention-needed opening- (and only detected DURING a subsequent C-section) were included with the number of women whose uteri ruptured with surgical intervention needed (including successful repair of the rupture or removal of the uterus). The literature indicates that catastrophic uterine ruptures can often be avoided if both the doctor and the hospital are well prepared for such, and that most such ruptures are detectable in enough time to have a positive conclusion to the event. It is also noted that a number of uterine ruptures occur because of doctor intervention practices! Furthermore, the literature is chock full of the results of studies on vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), and if Dr. Mory knows about them, she didn't let me know that. However, she did tell me about the circumstances under which I would be induced for delivery or scheduled for a cesarean (if my baby didn't come by the estimated due date). The literature discusses the fact that a woman who has had a cesarean has a greater chance of uterine rupture if her labor is induced. Dr. Mory didn't tell me that. Regarding administration, the office lost an ultrasound report that was faxed to them on the very day it was completed (12/18/09). I discovered the fact about the missing report after picking up a copy of my file on 01/04/10. Another fax of the report was obtained. Considering that test, Dr. Mory told me I could take my referral to any provider who does ultrasounds, and that I didn't have to go to any of the offices shown on the referral form. However, when I tried to keep an appointment at a center a few days later, the technician called Women for Women and then had me speak to someone in the office who explained that I was to have a special ultrasound that could not be done by the provider I was trying to use. Dr. Mory apparently didn't understand what kind of testing I was to have, or she didn't know that it wasn't so routine that just any facility providing ultrasounds could perform the kind prescribed for me. Lastly, Dr. Mory felt it was very important to back-up the doctor who lied about not having the H1N1 vaccine- to the point of going back and forth with me on this sore point and saying that she was "sticking to my guns". In my opinion she'd probably make a pretty good defense attorney for an accused rapist- like one who would try to get the accused off by sticking by the accused and telling the alleged victim things that suggest something was wrong with the victim. I was seen once by each of the 4 doctors in the practice, and if I had no other choice but to stay with the practice, I would only schedule appointments with Drs. Einhorn and Barsoum.

All check ups and procedures were performed to my satisfaction, and I was always able to get additional questions answered. The staff were always thorough in scheduling tests such as ultrasounds that related to my pregnancy.

Dr. Carlson has a wonderful and caring bedside manner. He really listens and takes as much time as needed, I remember one day when I was in the hospital, he stayed with me for almost a 1/2 hour. During delivery, he was around a lot and addressed my concerns, was very mellow. Such different from my experience with my first child. He has a calming influence and didn't let me get worked up about anything going wrong during the delivery or previously. At my post-natal visit, he was again caring and kind. At this office, you will always get prompt and personal care.
