  • My home was damaged in June 2015 by a pretty severe hail/straight line wind storm.  The back side of the house took the brunt of the hail, and being aluminum siding, was dinged up pretty bad.  Wind affected the side elevation of the house although when the insurance company wrote up the repair estimate, they did not see that damage to the side was caused by the storm so my repair estimate did not include the side.  That didn't seem right to me, but after getting 2 other companies out to look at the damage along with my insurance company's quote, they both said that the damage on my side was due to normal weather conditions warping the aluminum siding....however, I knew this wasn't like this before the storm!
    The third company I called to look at my place and provide an estimate was Vera.  Wow what a difference.  They looked at the insurance quote and immediately had issues with the lack of coverage of the side.  What a relief, I thought - I am not crazy!  So he urged me to have the adjuster come out again and Angel and Jack (owners of Vera) would meet with them and discuss the repair estimate.  I then received a repair estimate from my insurance company to cover the side of the house -  replacement of the damaged aluminum siding with vinyl.  This amounted to about a $7,000 increase in the amount of the total claim.
    My point for mentioning all this is to highlight the difference between Vera and the other 2 contractors that I had out.  Vera really pushed for what was right and best for my home and the insurance company ended up seeing their point of view and my house got repaired correctly!  
    The work started in Feb.  I was initially a bit nervous about that since you never know what to expect in February.  They completed the roof first.  The weather held (above 40 degrees) and the job was completed in a day.  Amazingly, even though I just had the roof replaced in 2012, they found a pretty extensive piece of rotted decking on the back porch.  What this meant to me was that the previous roofer just roofed over the rotten wood!  It was clear from seeing the rotted piece that it didn't get that bad in 2 years!  Regardless, the replacement added only about $150 to the cost of my out of pocket expenses.  Small price to pay for getting the job done right.
    Then came the siding.    We did have a few days of really bad wind and rain (about 2) during the siding installation and my home was without gutters (but the new vinyl siding was already installed) during the worst of it.  However, no harm was done, as soon as the weather cleared and dried up a bit, they were back out on the job and had it completed within a week.  There were a few pieces of rotted wood they found that I had to pay to get replaced and what I liked about Angel and Jack is that they snapped cell phone pics of the damage to prove it and texted it to me before I authorized the replacement.  I thought that was very honest and fair.
    The work is done and it is now May and as I walk around my house, I really appreciate the workmanship.  The house looks great (no more bulging warped aluminum and no more dings  that make it look like someone target practiced with a BB gun on my house.
    I would very much recommend Vera - any small problems that I noticed, they were out immediately to fix (there was an issue with the gable vent and it was found to be a product defect and it was ripped out and replaced within a day of my notifying them).  These guys are honest and will really go the extra mile to make sure the job is done right.

  • Iniitially I was pleased with the company's response.  I called on July 7 to request an estimate.  We had a storm in our area so there was a lot of damage and many of the roofers were busy.  I spoke with the owner, Phil, who promised that someone would call me back later that day to schedule an appointment.  Someone named Tony did call me that day and scheduled an appointment for the following day.  He did show up (a little early) and seemed professional in discussing the repairs, although he could only go up on my garage roof as he said his normal car was in the shop so he did not have his tall ladder with him; therefore he couldn't go up on my main roof.  However, he seemed professional and offered to come back on Saturday when the insurance adjuster was to be there so that he could work with him to see what work needed to be done.  He said he would be working in the area that day and as I did not know the exact time the adjuster was coming (I had a window of Noon-2pm), I could call or text his cell phone when the adjuster called to say he was on his way.  Well, the adjuster called, as promised, shortly after noon, and I called Tony and left him a voicemail.  He had said text was the best way to reach him so I also texted him.  I received no response from Tony, not that day or any day since.  He never showed up and never called to say why he didn't show up.  Needless to say, I would not hire this company or request a quote from them in the future.  This experience makes them seem very unreliable.

  • They did not clean up after themselves and they left trash all over the apartment and there were certain spots on the roof that could have done better. The key thing was that they promised us $400 of referrals which I referred two neighbors.  Then the sales man changed on it. We got a hold of the owner and she approved it right away and she approved a cheque for $400.  This guy put us through hell and high water. He told us the financial situation about one of the neighbors, that was none of our business. At first I agreed to a gentleman agreement and he seemed fine then I signed something and he still went back on it. That is when I threaten that I will go to the newspaper and all kinds so they did not want the publicity. The workers were foreign and the supervisor was sleeping in his truck during the job so that was not good. The other guys could not speak English. It was just a bad experience.

  • I contacted Master's because of hail damage to my room.  It turns out they replaced the roof, gutters, downspouts, and some aluminum work. Their response work was quick and they worked with my insurance company.  The work they did was excellent , everything was very good, cleaned up after themselves and the lead tech on the job couldn't have been more helpful. That's the good part.
    The bad part is their lack of communication, especially with their sub-contractors. Then I was owed a $200 referral fee and I had to hound them to actually get it.  Next time I would withhold my referral fee from the final payment to insure they pay me.
    All in all they did a good job and I would refer them to anyone that asks.

  • After 4 incorrect proposals, the estimator came to our house to ensure the estimate was correct.  We gave him a 500.00 deposit to complete the work.   We did not hear from this company and finally called them 3 weeks later.  They called the next day and said they could do the two roofs, however, the slate and gutters would be completed in the near future. 


    The quality of the work for the roofs they worked on we were not pleased with.    We cancelled the remaining work to be completed. This consisted of the gutters and slate work.  Another 3 weeks have gone by with no call.  We never even received a phone call estimating the time they could complete the job.  We would have been satisfied with that.


    We purposely were patient with this company because of the reputation this company has for slate work.  We told them this and they promised we would not be disappointed. 


    This company needs to improve their internal network of communication.  I did not see a sense of urgency or drive to complete a job that would have provided revenue of over 5,000.00.

  • I only wanted to spend $150. He said to pressure wash my house would cost more than that and he couldn’t just pressure wash part of my house. I decided not to go with deal since I didn’t want to spend more than $150.

  • Our first contact he was pleasant, our gutter was hanging close to the ground due to winter weather, he pulled the hanging gutter down and cut it up and hauled it away. He then told me when he would be doing the replacement of the new gutter
    My gutter is a cream, yellow color and he put new gutter up and matched the color. It looks great and he also secured the other side of the house gutter, because the nail were coming out. I was very pleased with the job and will call him again.
