  • Mediocre is being kind. The finish looked nice, that is the best thing I can say about this contractor's work. Where to begin? Well, he talks like he is going to do things right. He Promised to pour a 5" slab, with a 10" apron, and to adjust the grade to the apron was not so steep, because my wife's car scraped the air dam on the road when we'd pull in or out. He Offered a middle of the road price, and we could not find negative reviews of his work so we went with them.. Well, when he was scrapping the old driveway out, and starting to set the forms, I noticed he did not scrape very deep, and that he did not compact what little gravel he added. 3 tons for an 85' drive way. Then he proceeded to frame the driveway with 2x4s. Well I know enough to know that framing with a 2x4 , which is actually 1.5" by 3.5" is not going to allow for a 5" slab, I started asking questions. He kept insisting that it would be 5". I remained skeptical. I also asked about the grade and slope of the apron. Again, he insisted it was reduced so the car would not scrape. Next comes the pour day. And I asked again, because it did not seem possible to get 5" out of the framing. Again, he insisted it would be 5" . And looking at the apron, he did not have it framed yet, but it clearly was not dug out to 10". I asked about expansion strips, he saind he would be putting some in. In the end, he framed the apron up with 2x4s and dug out to maybe 6". He never used any expansion strips anywhere. And he left the forms around the apron at the end of the day, saying he'd take them off in 10 days. After 12 days, my wife called, no answer, no reply. So I took the forms off. The mess revealed under that was quite impressive. A mix of mud, a gap between the driveway and the road, and a 3.5" drop off onto the road. So basically he failed on every count. Then I went and measured up and down the driveway where the forms were off. There were places where the concrete was barely 2" thick. The average depth was around 3.5 inches. And my wife's car scraped worse than it ever did. A few more calls went unanswered, until about 3 weeks had gone by and I had added some concrete patch to smooth out the transition between the street and driveway. When he did finally call back, I explained we were not happy and ran through the list of things that were promised and not delivered. At first, he offered to come look at the transition, he didn't think it was that bad. and he kept insisting he did not short us, that there was 5" and 10" of concrete. I told him I know how to read a measuring tape and that there was definitely not that much concrete, and that I was pretty disappointed in how everything turned out. It ended with him saying he didn't think he did anything wrong. He asked what I wanted him to do. I told him I'd be happy with him digging out and repouring the apron to a proper 10". He again insisted he did nothing wrong. I told him I'd get a hammer drill and drill 2 sample holes in the apron, and if the samples came out to be an in less than 10" I'd take him to court to have him redo the whole thing. So that is where it stands. Be forewarned... I'll update this later.

  • He did a great job. After he left, I could not put my SUV into the garage as the garage door was too low. I didn't want to damage my new vehicle. I texted him about the problem. He and his assistant came back within 10 minutes to make the adjustment. It was an easy fix and was very satisfied with his work. This is the 3rd time I've hired Chris Jackson to do the work for me.

  • Chris responded to my query about an estimate in a timely fashion and was very prompt for the appointment. We decided to go with Chris not only because his estimate was midline of the others, but because he was local and his response time and punctuality. When the work was scheduled he explained who of his men would be performing the work, Tony & Tony's son, Nick. They arrived just as scheduled and the first thing they did was put down tarps so as not to track - this was excellent! The first day the demolish was complete but they made sure they had the vanity installed so we could use the sink, and they tidied up after themselves putting all tools, etc out of the way. They finished the project within the time estimated -- being efficient, professional, and cordial. The glass mosiac tile they installed looks better than I imagined it would - this was not just a backsplash - I wanted the tile all along the bottom half of the walls...they did an awesome job! My husband used to do most of the home improvement type things himself, but due to an illness he no longer can do these things, so, after a search of a few years and several trial and errors, I'm happy to know we have finally found someone we can call with confidence to do those home improvement/repair jobs. I only wish we had discovered Chris and his team five years ago!

  • George inspected the original damage and showed me where the roofers (who had replaced our roof in 2013) failed to overlap the flashing and shingles correctly. He and his co-worker came on the next available clear day to install new flashing. Unfortunately, the day after work was completed, we experienced another strong downpour and the leak re-occurred. George came back promptly to see what had gone wrong. The caulk which had been applied on the side of the chimney which did not receive as much sunlight had not had enough time to dry properly. He replaced the caulking and we haven't had another problem since then.

  • Excellent work. She has unmatched vision in creating beauty in a room that was otherwise nondescript. Her work was immaculate, precise and done on schedule. Price was extremely fair and she even took the time to get me some great deals on fixtures/accents. Can't wait to have her transform another space in my home!

  • I called Horhut Tree Experts the morning of the incident and Dan and his crew were out to remove the tree by mid-day. Everything was cleaned up and taken care of very quickly. The weather was particularly bad that morning and other tree services (arguably closer and equally highly rated) declined the call. I would recommend Horhut Tree Experts very highly for fast quality work and professionalism.

  • Terra made the process very easy for me. She answered all my questions and worked around my busy schedule. I didn’t really have a design scheme in mind, but what she recommended looks better than I would have ever thought. I would definitely recommend Terra if you want someone to help you remodel/design a kitchen!

  • I have to give a huge shout out to Jeff Thoma and Prestige Paving. What an exceptional experience! I had multiple local contractors come out to give me bids on my driveway, removing old sinking and cracked concrete and replacing with new asphalt. Jeff came out to see me, told me exactly what they had to do to replace my driveway and the amount of work needed to do the job right. The other contractors wanted to pave over the sinking cracked driveway! They arrived like an army on Monday morning as scheduled, one of the guys on the crew even stood with my blind neighbor and waited for his Access van because the trucks were blocking his normal waiting spot. The team of 8-9 guys worked in perfect harmony, through torrential rain; if something dropped on the ground, someone else was scooping it up. They were very friendly and funny, considerate of our neighborhood and so efficient! The job was completed this morning and we couldn't be happier. So thankful that we chose Prestige Paving. When you want the job done right, call the professionals. Thanks Jeff, Heather, John and your team.

  • Hands down there is no better HVAC company in the greater Pittsburgh area. I asked a neighbor who I should use and he recommended the Howard T. Moore Co. I'm glad he did. Not only did they accommodate my unusual request, they were consummate pros. They clearly explained everything that they were going to do, how the equipment should operate, what I should expect and what it would cost upfront. They did an excellent job and the price was fair! What really blew me away is that they followed up with me a couple days later. That's unheard of in this industry! They wanted to make sure everything was operating properly. I cannot say enough good things about Howard T. Moore Co. There is a reason they've been in business over 50 years and don't have to advertise. Their quality of work and professionalism sets them far and above all the others. If you need heating or air conditioning service and you want to deal with an honest, upfront, prompt, forthright company, don't waste your time with the con men or hack job companies. Go with the best, go with Howard T. Moore.

  • I did not like the fact that the purchase price was $109 and after the job was done, they said it would be an additional $30 for going out of their zone. I should have been told the total price in the very beginning. I don't see how going out of their zone would cost $30.
