    Anthony F Cost and Sons were sent to my house by my home warranty company when I requested service to my boiler. The service person showed up in a UHaul van which made me feel a little suspicious, however, he explained that his normal work vehicle was in the shop for repairs. We had a brief conversation about the boiler and he quickly set off to determine what was causing my lack of heat. The cause was painfully obvious and he diagnosed that I would need an entire new boiler and a few misc. part replaced-- this would be at no small cost. I explained that I understood that the boiler was going to need to be replaced prior to calling the warranty company, however, it is their process that their service provider come out rather than taking the word of the policy holder. He informed me that he would report his finding and the photos that he took back to his boss and that we would hear back from the warranty company about how we should proceed. 48 hours later I had still not gotten a response from Anthony Cost and Sons or the warranty company. I reached out to the warranty company to see why I had not been contacted and was informed that the service company had not called in their findings! While it may not matter to anyone else that I do not have heat in my home I am appalled that my situation was not addressed the same day as my service visit? I have a one year old son, having no heat when the temps are in the 30's is unacceptable.

    Low Cost Heating & Air Conditioning
    My parents had used Low Cost Heating and Air Conditioning to have their Central AC replaced last year and when I was ready to replace my 14 year old system that was leaking refrigerant, these guys were my first call. My parents had recommended them to several others who they had done work for and they did not disappoint. Dawn called me back later the day I called apologizing for not calling earlier as they were in a seminar. They set up to come out the next day calling a couple times to let me know they were running late and that they were on their way. Keith pretty much laid out the price and explained everything really well and talked me out of a higher priced system because I didn't need anything fancy and completely trusted him. I made the decision a couple days later to go ahead and they were able to get me in a few days later as they wanted to do it before they started getting really busy with spring maintenance which was fine. The day came and they were a tiny bit late and they called a few minutes before arriving and got right to work. I showed them around and let them get to work. After a few hours, they were all finished up and Keith showed me all that was done and answered a couple of questions. They will charge you 40 dollars for clean and checks and 40 for service calls no matter what time of day and won't charge you anything you don't need. They will be my go to place when it comes to all things heating and air conditioning I had a new 3 Ton Heil 13 SEER Air Conditioning System installed. It included the condensor and coil, they also put in a new disconnect box outside and flushed the existing line set and also put in a new programmable thermostat

    We had to reschedule our initial appointment, and Dan was very accommodating with meeting our scheduling needs. They explained the cleaning process to us and showed us before and after pictures.     Boehmer Heating & Cooling
    Boehmer sold me a replacement part for my boiler in March 2017, which did get my boiler working again. I paid $800 for a part. Even though at the time they told me that it might not fix the issue and the boiler could need replaced. I had them come back to do a maintenance Oct. 2017, only for them to tell me that my boiler is leaking carbon monoxide and is close to needing replaced. They actually suggested that it could last another year or so, as long as I didn't allow pets or small children in the basement where the boiler runs. It didn't sound safe to me and I'm not sure why they would recommend that if its not regulation and not safe. I didn't appreciate that they didn't tell me about the leak in March, after spending $800 on a part. Furthermore, they were pushing me to purchase a new boiler and to schedule within a day or two. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to get me scheduled for another 4 weeks. Well I did my research thanks to Angie's List and went with a better company. It turns out the boiler in my home is actually too big for the house. Since I got someone that knows what they are doing they were able to measure the radiators and the square footage and give me a better price on the right sized boiler. I will not be using this company again. Very disappointed.

    10.4.2017 When John came to my home to check over my old furnace and air conditioner, he took his time, carefully scrutinizing the entire system and stating several improvements that all the other heating and cooling providers missed. Heating and cooling is not my business and I am no mechanic, but he took his time, explaining things to me in a way I could understand. He checked the connections of the AC and furnace to the fuse box, explaining to me that there was a need for connection updates and why. He noticed sun damage to the outside wires going to the AC, stating that the AC was actually hooked up with connections meant for inside of the house, plus the connectors need a covering to go through to keep them safe from grass trimmers. He also noted how the humidifier was just fine, but the problem was that it was not hooked up correctly and thereby not functioning. Also the humidifier was on the water heater���s cold water heating and gave his men orders to change it to the warm water tubing, with a better valve. While there at the water heater, John noticed another thing that no other service man coming through from other companies had noticed ��� the carbon monoxide pipe was not attached into the chimney, not even touching the wall! He had short me to stand up on a chair so I could see what he could see and he was right! There was no way that the CO pipe was reaching the tera cotta lining of the chimney; it was not even reaching the brick wall! He jammed the pipe into the hole leading to the chimney and stated that his guys would be there with a chimney liner so no CO would leak through the mortar. He showed me various system options and what they would do. John priced each component, giving a total price for each system. While other competitors included a new humidifier, John did not because he stated it was hardly used at all because of the poor attachment, so I saved money there. Considering without the important extras, he underpriced both Bryant and other Carrier dealers offering the same systems. Brian and Andy came promptly two days in a row to do all that John had written in his report to them, putting in a wonderful heating and cooling system, plus the needed extras John found. Brian and Andy were so very friendly and were very personable, as I shared my personal stories, so did they, as they continued to work hard. They always had time for my questions, telling me that I was not in the way, and pointing out exactly what they were doing and why it was being done. During those two days they were so very particular about the furnace and AC installation. The first day they did not even stop for lunch, but just made a grab for a quick nibble so they could get most of the job done that day, so that I could have furnace heat that night. The following day they completed the AC complete with a sound resistant pad. Then they climbed up onto the roof, installing the new chimney liner to attach to the water heater carbon monoxide pipe. They were so nice and kind and excellent, knowledgeable workers that I was completely at ease with their competency. Also, they were wonderful educators, making sure that I understood my new system and that I had the office number if I had any questions at all. I am a COMPLETELY SATISFIED customer!! Garland

    John stopped one day to quote us a price, we arranged for the work and a few days later our new furnace and AC units were installed. John's helper arrived promptly, removed our old furnace and AC unit and installed the new one along with a new air cleaner, new thermostat and all new piping. The job was competed professionally and in one day. And everything was cleaned up before he left. We did have one small issue with a leaky condensate drain pipe which was quickly remedied the same day we discovered it. I would recommend John Mullen Home Repair to anyone. The best part is that he is a local business and we were really pleased with to deal with someone local.

    John Mullen provided me with OUTSTANDING service when my A/C broke. I called John at 8:23 PM on a Friday night and asked him if he could help me. My home was already 78 degrees and rising with a dog and two small children. He was in his car going home from a long day's job and turned around to come to my house. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a simple blown capacitor. He replaced the part, told me how much it would probably be for a new A/C unit with and without a furnace if/when I would ever need one, but said it was not necessary right now, that my unit should run for a while longer even though it was old. Then, at 9 PM on a Friday night, after what I am sure was a long hot day for him, he took the time to show me how to clean my A/C unit with my garden hose to increase efficiency and decrease the chance of breakdown. He left my house, work completed all for only $90, at 9:08. Now that is outstanding. At no time did John try to sell me a new A/c unit or furnace, even though my units are both very old. He simply advised me of the possible cost if I wanted to do that. He went out of his way and well beyond normal business hours, to come and fix my problem for minimal cost. He was polite, clean, informative, and honest. And again, he took the extra 10 minutes at 9PM at night to advise me on routine maintenance, for free. The previous home owner had this unit serviced regularly by a different company. I initially called them and left a voice mail as they were closed. I am writing this review on Sunday afternoon and still have not heard from them. If not for John I could have been without A/C for 3 or more days. I am a critical person and do not believe in praising people just for doing their job. I am much more inclined to leave bad reviews for poor service, than good reviews for just providing the service you are paid to do. Please consider that when reading how much I am praising this man for going above and beyond. Hire him, you will not be sorry.

    As always, South Hills Electric doesn't disappoint. When I heard that they were starting to do duct cleaning, I was quick to sign up. Justin came out and did a super job. With two dogs and an older home, my house can get quite dirty. I was amazed at what came out of the ducts! I would not hesitate to have South Hills Electric clean my ducts again.
