    D'Alfonso Contracting
BBB Complaint September 12, 2018 May 2018 to present (September 12, 2018). Project was to add shower to existing bathroom located in the laundry area of my house. Time was of the essence to move my parents (84 and 99) into my house so I could care for them. Work stopped on July 11, 2018 because I demanded the proper permits to go forward. Left with a demolished laundry room with no sink, running water or bathroom. Tried to get full dumpster replaced since July 30, 2018. Still on my property, full. Remediation consisted of removing contaminated material while using my scarf to block bottom of door to stop the spread of mold. Ridding the mold consisted of setting off a "bomb". Never offered to hook up washer/dryer temporarily while applying for permit, which he never applied for. Central air conditioning line required me to empty 5 gallon bucket 3-5x's/day. Con artist masquerading as a contractor. Talks a good talk, keeps asking for additional deposits. When he gets some more money you are not a priority. Never worried about getting sued and having a judgement against him that you could never collect. He knows the law and knows that if he starts a job and leaves inventory on your premises that it is not theft and he can basically do as he pleases...bad contractor that is all. Refuses to get proper permits to continue job. Theft occurred by his employees while on job. Conjures a story to avoid reimbursement, "oh it was a mistake, no theft" as he has his employees return the stolen item after commercial use; wet/dry vac. Will not replace full dumpster (even though his employees used it from other jobs). Subpar work at best from unqualified workers. His workers come and goes like a revolving door. Does not carry workman comp insurance, which is illegal. Damaged clothes washer from workers laying 18 2x4's on unit. Others also have fell victim to his business practices. How does this even happen without recourse?

    Hometown Insulation
My experience with Mike from Hometown Insulation was great. He was was able to quote my property quickly, delivered a competitive quote, and provided the services laid out in his quote. His crew was able to finish the job a day ahead of schedule. My one nitpicky comment is that, after his crew finished the job, I didn't receive a phone call explaining why the job had been finished early. However, when I called him, he was very apologetic and explained right away the difference between what I expected and what had happened. On top of that, he immediately sent over the safe occupancy documents, assuring me that the room was asbestos-free and safe to use. This quibble wasn't a big deal to me and certainly wouldn't prevent me from using him again for asbestos removal.

    Landmark Inspections LLC
The home inspections were awesome! Scott Freeman was very nice, informative, and thorough. I would highly recommend him if you are out buying your first home. He will supply you with an unbiased professional opinion and will explain all the details every step of the way. At no point during the home inspections did i feel overwhelmed or lost. Scott Freeman and the Landmark Inspections LLC will definitely be my first recommendation to anyone that asks about home inspectors.

Morgan Basement Waterproofing & Mold Remediation
I was fooled by Angie's List deals, and ended up paying for a $49 quote that I could have gotten for free from any number of contractors. The guy came and took a quick look over my basement, confirmed if there was any mold or not, and then generated a quote for a french drain. I got subsequent multiple quotes afterward, all for free, which all seemed more thorough in assessing, and ultimately decided to use one of the competition. The guy was nice, professional, and showed up when he said he would. I just decided on principle that I won't use someone who charges money to really just provide quotes and generate business.

    Mold Solutions & Inspections
As soon as we discovered the 2"x3" patch of mold on the ceiling of the basement, we immediately called Joe Fiorillo of Mold Solutions and Inspections. We had used Mold Solutions before to inspect some possible mold after a slow leak under a fireplace and were so pleased with Joe's company's prompt response, efficient and thorough work, fair pricing and professionalism that it was a no-brainer to call him again for this situation. When I phoned him late in the afternoon on September 30, he had a worker show up at my house first thing the next morning and then he showed up himself personally to check on the progress of the project. Before beginning any work, Joe's employee put up sheets of plastic to contain the area and keep the mold from contaminating anything. He then carefully removed the affected drywall and a sufficient amount of surrounding drywall to ensure that he got all possible mold spores and then cleaned up the entire area with a very powerful anti-microbial solution. He was also able to confirm our suspicions that the moisture causing the mold originated from a very slow drip coming from the toilet in the powder room directly above where the basement ceiling mold was discovered. Before Joe's worker left, he cleaned up the area better than he found it. Fans and a dehumidifier were left in place for three days to make sure that the entire area was as dry as possible. Joe then called to find out when it would be convenient for him to stop by to pick up his equipment and the job was finished.
We are hoping that we will not have any more mold issues, but if we do, it is great to know that all we have to do is call Joe and he will take care of the problem for us!

    Mold Solutions & Inspections
Owner Joe Fiorilli was professional, courteous, responsive, and knowledgeable throughout the entire service engagement.

Joe promptly responded to our request for a mold inspection, before my wife and I moved forward with other home improvement plans.  We were able to make quick arrangements for a  test of air sample at his quoted price. Joe was able to clearly explain our options and we were able to make an informed decision about what tests to order. Joe was prompt on the scheduled date for the testing and professionally and expertly walked through the process with us. Joe charged exactly what he quoted, and immediately provided test results upon request when they became available. Joe offered any additional follow-up conversations to help us understand the report. First class service!

    Atlantic Lead Consultants Inc
The inspection went very well. He offered two packages - one for $300 and another for ~ $800. The $300 package was sufficient for our  needs. He spot checked areas of concerns, and we were able to pick up on a trend of where the lead paint was located. The $800 package included a thorough inspection of every room and a detailed report.

    Radon-Rid LLC
I would hire them for another job, thoughI'm hoping the radon fan they installed lasts as long as the first one.David was friendly and he followed through with making sure theinstallation was perfect by repairing a pipe. He saved us time by tellingus where we could find the fan specs so that he could order it right awayrather than schedule a special trip to get the info

    Next Step Environmental Services LLC
Matthew Winslow of Next Step Environmental Services -- a professional throughout the entire process.  From the moment I called Next Step and spoke w/Heather I was given precise information so I could schedule Next Step to review my need.  I'd had a radon inspector in my home which I'm selling and my radon count was over 4 which required the system to be installed.  Matt came reviewed the situation, gave me the price, set the date for installation.  Matt started the job on time and when I got to my home he was almost finished.  He reviewed the system with me and how I was to do the post test in 48 hours.  The post test was done and the radon level in the basement is now under 3.9.
