We had our chimney cleaned by another company due to a strong smell but the cleaning did not get rid of the problem. I called Lou to get a second opinion and he did an extremely thorough inspection and identified an area of the chimney that the first company had missed. He cleaned that area for a reduced price and even called a couple days later to make sure the smell was still gone. He is definitely my go-to for any future chimney issues and cleaning.

It went well. Pat and crew were punctual, professional and courteous. They identified the source of water entry that accounted for the crumbling stucco and addressed that too. They also painted the repaired areas.

I contacted them for chimney work, and scheduled an appointment for the following week. As the appointment window was 9-11am, I had to rearrange my work schedule to be at home during that time. On the day of the appointment, 11am came and went, and they had not arrived. I called at 11:15 and requested a callback with a status update. Finally, at 12noon, after hearing nothing from them, I called and left a message telling them not to bother coming out. I never received a callback. I do not recommend this company.

Thorough. Plaid down tarps to ensure carpets did not get dirty. Exhausted the shop vac outside, to ensure interior air did not get dusty. Showed us photos of areas of chimney interior & brickwork needing repair.

The work was done phenomenally well. DJ Cross completely restored the fireplace to excellent working order, including installing a new liner and top-sealing damper, insulating the flue system, and performing masonry repairs to portions of the chimney above the roof line. In fact, they came to help show me how to set the wood and light the first fire of the season. The "draw" (the ability of the fireplace to draw smoke up the chimney) was terrific. They've since returned every year to clean and inspect the chimney. I have recommended them to every friend who has a fireplace!

My fireplace functions best when I use stove wood, which not all fire wood providers offer. I've ordered from Dusty for several years. He provides very clean wood, with a quick response time. Until now, they've always been a pleasure to deal with. I called today around noon and placed my order for a cord of stove wood. I'm used to their pricing being somewhat higher than average, but the product was good, so I didn't mind. This year's pricing of $480/cord of oak ($420 for mixed hardwood) seemed exceptionally high, so when I returned home from running errands I made some calls. Turns out that on average a seasoned cord of mixed costs $260 delivered. I called and left a message that while I regret to do so after working with them for many years, I wished to cancel my order because paying that much more wasn't reasonable. I got a call back a couple of hours later, the gist of which was "I hope your happy, we loaded the truck for tomorrow and have to dump it, it probably cost us $80" and was hung up on. Sorry, but I made the call in as timely a manner as possible and if you weren't grossly overcharging, the order wouldn't have been cancelled. Frankly, $80 seems negligible given what I've probably overpaid for years. Shame on me.

My brick chimney was leaking, such that when it would rain, water was coming down the inside of the chimney and splattering onto the place where the wood burns. John put multiple coats of ?Chimney Saver? liquid sealer onto the outside of my chimney. His work was well-explained, done meticulously, and thoroughly. For example, he repaired the top of the chimney and removed loose surface material from the bricks so that the sealer would adhere to firm brick surface. If he had not done this, the loose surface material would have eventually come off to expose brick material into which the sealer had not penetrated. What he did will make the treatment last longer. The treatment he did lasts 10 years. I will also note that a few years back, I consulted him on the carbon build-up (creosote) on the inside of the chimney. He said that he did not need to sweep the chimney, but recommended that I get a liquid to break down the creosote. On this most recent visit, he told me that the liquid was working. He also examined the flue for our gas furnace and cleaned and repaired the flue and confirmed that it was operating safely. I am very glad that I had this work done by a man who has integrity and long-term experience and performed the work as if it were his own home.

I called initially for an estimate and he arrived within 20 minutes and looked over the job. Unfortunately things went downhill from there. After weeks of calling them over and over and not having calls returned I finally got booked on a specific day at 7:15AM to have the work done. Then the day came and went, no one showed up, no calls or explanations. Please avoid this company, they may not waste your money but they will surely waste your time. Avoid avoid avoid.

The company was very responsive to our written inquires via Angie's list. We scheduled an inspection and cleaning of the fireplace in a home we just purchased. Two men arrived on the day scheduled. They arrived later than planned, but they did call to tell us they were running late. Upon arriving, they promptly inspected the firebox, as well as the interior and exterior of the chimney, and told us that there was no need to sweep the chimney because it was already clean (minus some cobwebs that they said would burn off when we light our first fire). As such, they did not charge us for the visit. They did alert us to some wear and tear that they saw on the chimney crown which could allow bugs and animals to get in the chimney. They gave us an estimate to replace the crown, and we plan to schedule that service.

There was a leak in the bathroom wall that could not be traced to its source.  I had a mason look at the chimney which is located adjacent to the leak and he found nothing.  I had a roofing company replace the flashing but the leak continued.  At this point I was desperate and as a last-ditch effort called Chadds Ford Chimney.  The phone was answered by the owner!  He spent much time with me talking about the potential problems.  He was able to send his best technician in a few days.  They were on time, and very easy to work with.  They went on the roof and looked everywhere but could not find any problems.  They came back down, and went back with a flashlight.  They looked in the septic vent, which is very close to the chimney (something no other company did) and found a fracture in the pipe.  They indicated that rain water was entering into the pipe and migrating to the bathroom wall.  They got in their truck and drove to the hardware store and returned within an hour with an elbow PVC pipe and temporarily placed it over the vent.  They said wait for the next two big rains and see what happens.  The next two big rains came and there was only a very, very small leak which we attributed to the fact that wind was blowing rainwater into the pipe.  They came back with another elbow that would prevent wind from blowing water into the pipe and permanently sealed the elbow in place.  The wall has been dry ever since.

No other company found this problem, but Chadds Ford stayed with it until they found the problem and fixed it..  They are truly wonderful to work with!  The owner is fabulous and willing to work with you at every level.  I can't say how highly I regard this company and how glad I am that I stayed with it and tried to find one more company who could help.
