APlyler Entry SystemsThe Plyler representative arrived punctually and, out of three proposals, provided the least expensive price for the quality of door we wanted(8' wide, insulated, steel door with one window). The two installers arrived on time, removed the old doors, and had the 3 doors installed in 4 1/2 hours. The job was executed accurately, professionally and they cleaned up after themselves. We were very pleased with the whole experience and would not hesitate to recommend them.- Florence P.

AHamburg Overhead Door IncThey told me someone would be at my home between 9 and 9:30. A guy arrived at 8:55 with the new garage door and parts. He looked over my garage. AThis company is fantastic. I was a little unsure if I needed to purchase a warranty to begin with. I am truly glad I did. I called American Home Guard later that week and the technician was there for about an hour. Even though he couldn't fix it we ordered the part and they paid for the whole thing. I am definitely looking forward to renewing next year. You just really don't know what can happen.

FI returned home from work on Tuesday evening (2nd day of project) to find my aluminum siding ripped from the back of my house which was totally unnecessary and caused damage to the siding. I had outlined the opening for the patio door before work which should have been cut out and the base plate could have been attached directly on the siding. (Aluminum siding goes on from the bottom up which means it must be removed from the top down to avoid damage. Any qualified contractor would have known this. The patio door was installed with no header and when I insisted he remove the door and do it right, he walked off the job and never returned. I had two independent contractors check the workmanship and the both agreed, the door needs not only a header but also a bottom plate and jack studs on both sides of the door, non of which was installed. Just nail the door in the opening and try to cover it over before somebody sees the shoddy work. The deck looked like it was build by amateurs, improper deck screws were used and the balusters and top rails were nailed on with a nail gun. The angle cuts weren't true and were filled with saw dust and dirt to cover the bad cuts.
Mr. Kieffer left the job (unfinished) on Monday morning, after showing up 3.5 hours late (3 days past his promised finished date), I thought to get more lumber to redo the patio door right, but he never came back.
I hired a qualified contractor Mark Kunkel (who really does have over 30 years of experience) to repair the damages to the aluminum siding plus remove and reinstall the patio door proper
Now I get a phone message earlier today from Stan K. claiming I broke the contract and he is calling his attorney in the morning.
I had issued another check for an additional 25% (against my better judgment) when he asked to for the unpaid balance in full promising I could trust him to finish the job and when Stan stopped work on Monday, I stopped payment on the second check the following day. (after it was clear he had no intention of returning). Guess we will have to let the Judge decide... ( a picture is worth a thousand words and I took lots of pictures). Plus there are plenty of eye witnesses!

Fthe price was extremely high. We opted to only do the three that were in disrepair and see how it went to decide if we would use Barrier for future windows. The windows are fine, but unremarkable. They are supposed to triple pane insulated windows but you can still feel cold air around these windows. The service provided at the time is not why I am giving them a F rating. The constant harassment for YEARS to get the rest of my windows replaced has guaranteed that I will NEVER spend another dime with this company. They are now dba Preservation Home Specialists. They call my house daily and sometimes MULTIPLE times per day, and if I happen to answer they are very pushy and insisting I am entered in a drawing to win $15,000 worth of home improvements. when I say I am not interested they go on and tell me how it isn't a sales pitch. I have hung up on them, I have asked them to remove me from their calling lists, and I have told them that I will never buy from them again. but they continue to call daily. This is still for a sales pitch, as they need to come demonstrate their products to you "in case" you win. I will tell everyone I know to stay away from Barrier Windows and Preservation Home Specialists!!!!

FThey came and sat down at my dining room table and gave me a price. They didn?t give an actual estimate, but begrudgingly allowed me to make a copy of the price he scratched down on a notepad.
Nine of the doors could be purchased from Lowe?s ($180) and the other three had to be custom ordered ($150). During the process, after I had already paid for the doors, he changed the price of his labor two times. Keep in mind, I was keeping all the existing hardware and he was saying that the job was going to be much harder than he originally thought. He didn?t even bring the doors that I paid for to my home, he took them to his house. After months of trying to get my doors, he brought them to my home and changed the price again. The doors were supposed to be painted and ready for installation, but they were in horrible shape. It looked like they had been drug behind a truck. Before he would do the job he stood on my porch trying to bully me into signing a form that said I would pay in full in cash beforehand. He had me in tears and my neighbors were even looking out of their doors. I went inside to call someone to come over because I was afraid and he must have thought I was calling the police because I heard him peel out of my driveway never to be seen again. It turns out that they forged my name to a work received form anyways.
I hired another company to come out and install the doors. They were so outraged at the evidence that ?Husband for Hire? left behind. They even volunteered to testify in court if it ever came to that.
I contacted the authorities to warn them about his behavior and to document the situation in case he tried to harass me further. I want to warn other single women about him. This husband and wife team is scamming local women.Reviewed by Linda B.
