John is extremely knowledgeable and is a true craftsman. His father and grandfather repaired clocks and he inherited the business and knowledge of two generations. I am so happy I found him on Angie's List. Although I've only had the clock for one week, I am confident that it will keep working for the next three years when he said I should bring it back to be cleaned. I look forward to seeing him in three years! My only caution is that John's basement workshop smells of cigarettes because a friend smokes there. I am extremely allergic to cigarettes but John was very accommodating and kept my clock base upstairs for the week he had it while repairing the mechanism. The mechanism did smell of cigarette smoke but it quickly aired out once I brought it home.

John was excellent and very professional. He was able to determine that a part inside the clock had broken and he ordered the new part and installed it in a timely manner. He also cleaned and tuned up the clock so that it didn't lose time like it had been doing for years. I thought the cost was very reasonable and the clock is now working again like it did when it was new.

My house has a grease trap in the basement floor.  One of the bolts used to secure the lid broke from rust.  You could see that it was previously welded in place and the welds deteriorated over time.  (I have been in the house 12 years and this was the first occurrence that I know of)  Joe Nichols brought his big welding rig on his truck and ran his cables from the front of my house to the back door of the basement. First he ground both the bolt and the stud in the ground to expose good metal. He then re-welded the bolt back into place.  Joe went right to work and fixed the bolt in a short amount of time - less than an hour. There was more time setting up and tearing down than actually welding.  He worked with me to put up cardboard and wet towels to protect the painted floor, wall, pipes, etc. from sparks.  After he left the only evidence I saw that he was there was the bolt was back in place.
He charged me his minimum charge which includes the road trip to the house and one hour of labor.

It was a kind of a problem. When they showed up they didn't have their truck that they were supposed to have. After we had paid for that we didn't have a lot for them to shred. After we had paid for that, the following week it was down by the local high school here for free. They were having a recycling fair. It wasn't really crazy but after we ended up paying for it we realized that we could have got it done for nothing. When they did show up it was a branded truck, we were expecting to see the company truck. That was the only thing and other than that we were kind of satisfied. In fact the same high school is offering for free in 2 weeks. It's a good deal if you are a company or something like that. Now that they have these recycling things going on in different parts of the community, I just hold off of that and take it down for shredding for nothing. They were very co-operative other than they said that their truck broke down. The first time they merged with somebody else but I think they were just a beginning type of company. It was a big deal purchase. There are different places that offer shredding for free, I don't think I would use them again in the future.

We had a 1 1/2-year-old ipod touch with part of the glass screen shattered after it was dropped on a concrete floor. Rather than ship the ipod off in the mail, we wanted to go somewhere local and found iFixn'more through a Google search. We drove to the shop to ask them to take a look at the ipod cover and to ask if they could diagnose rapid battery drain. The two proprietors, Jeff and Shawn, advised us to update the iOS first to see if that solved the battery drain problem before replacing the glass cover, which is a $70 repair.
We went home and did the iOS update and used the iPod for several days. That seemed to do the trick on the battery charging problem.
We went back a week later and asked them to go ahead with the glass cover repair. They said it would take about an hour, and they started immediately. We ran a few errands and went back -- they had it finished right on time. They put on a screen protector at our request. They also had ipod cases with more padding that what we had before, so we bought a new one for $20. The ipod has worked fine since then and the case is holding up very well.
While we were there, we also asked about iPad screen protectors. We bought one and they applied it at no extra charge.
As for the repair cost, we only did a little comparison shopping online. The more important comparison to us was the cost of a new iPod touch. The $70 repair cost seemed reasonable and we preferred to handle the repair locally. A month later we are very happy with the choice of going to iFixn'More.

Mr. Churchel was very responsive, courteous and knowledgeable. He handled the work promptly, and helped me to learn about the history and value of this timepiece. The clock works perfectly now.

I took the clock to his place of business (residence).
I explained the problem and some history of the clock.
I observed other work he had done and was working on.
He explained what he would do to my clock.
He gave me an estimate of the repair. (He charged $5 less than the estimate.)
    I left the clock.
He called about 3 weeks later saying it was ready to be picked up.

I called Monday morning to order some invoices and the surly woman answering the phone should have clued me in on what I was about to experience.  She said the regular person wasn't in but if I would fax the document, she would see to it that it got processed.  (I've only ever emailed my samples)  I needed a price quote so she huffed that she would find someone to help me.  The quote went well.  They called back with the numbers in a timely manner.  I asked how long it would take to get the invoices printed and was told 2-3 days.  That was acceptable since I needed them by Friday.  I didn't hear anything from them on Wednesday or Thursday (the promised due date) so I called on Friday.  I was told that they were going to be printed soon but I couldn't get them until Monday since the numbers needed time to dry.  After expressing extreme displeasure with the unfulfilled promise, I was told that they could print off a small batch and deliver them to my home, which is in the neighborhood.  Excellent way to solve the problem!  I didn't need the whole batch just a dozen by Saturday morning.  I was out until late Friday night only to find no invoices waiting for me when I got home. I needed them for Saturday, was promised them by Wednesday with a back-up delivery of Friday.   Someone showed up Saturday morning (without calling) shortly before my husband had to leave for work and almost missed him.  I had to do too much work to get my order.  This printer definitely is not worth the effort.

Working with the Paper Exchange was a pleasure from start to finish. This locally owned company has professional staff working the phones, as estimators, and handling the files they shred. Ryan Gartel worked with us to help estimate the number of boxes we might have. We are retired lawyers clearing old files from boxes and files cabinets, and it was especially helpful that they were willing to come inside to remove the files from the cabinets and haul them out to the truck. [Other on-site shredding companies require customers to deliver the material to the curb]. The equipment is impressive, and secure, and allows the customer to view the material feeding into the chute. Gary and Bill were fast, efficient and very courteous and I felt comfortable handing over the files to them. I was also impressed with their list of clients including large law firms, federal agencies, law enforcement agencies, and major sports teams, and I liked working with a locally owned business.

I found Mr. Hodge on Angies list. I phoned him and left a message and he called me back the same day. He said that he would be able to get to me in three weeks. He did call ahead of time and came to do the work in about three weeks.
He came and completed the job after many hours in one day.
