    ECI Comfort
Frank and Tony did a great job on the removal and install of the oil tanks in our basement. It was not an easy job but everything that was requested was taken care of. They were careful about protecting our property and cleaning up when finished. I was very satisfied with the work. In the past ECI installed a two zone high velocity air conditioning system and replaced a 30 year old oil burner. Was always very satisfied with their professionalism and competence.

    Heffner'S Home Improvements
Robert Heffner, from Heffner's Home Improvements, 267-243-3413, was contracted and fully paid to install 2 windows in my home. He arrived, partially installed one window, dropped and broke the bay window, and promised to return. He never did return, and will not answer my phone calls. Unless I take him to court I don't know what else to do. Buyer beware!!!

    MARKEE REMODELING
Jim - the owner, is always super responsive when we call him. We have been using Markee Remodeling for 10 years or so, personally & professionally. Prices are always reasonable and the quality of products and craftsmanship are excellent. There have been many times he has offered more cost efficient products beyond our knowledge & expertise. This company is impeccable when it comes to understanding & deadlines, especially if you have an emergency & we have had several. They have come on site as late as 10:00 pm on a Friday night after just finishing a job, only to start on our repairs early the next Saturday morning. We have used utilized their services for : complete demo, insulation, sheet rock, painting, minor & major electrical, some minor plumbing, trim work, crown molding, minor caulk, major caulk (kitchen & bathroom), water/storm damage/flooding - interior & exterior, bedrooms, living rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, tile, cabinets, fixtures, tubs, showers, basins. Even when vacant, all work & services have been left clean & safe which is extremely important to me. My structures were always secured. Professional behavior conducted from start to finish by Jim & his work crew. We've used him residentially & professionally as we own rental(s). Quite often, it can be stressful finding a reliable & trustworthy contractor. I know I can count on him even with elderly close family to honestly & professionally do the work required.

Dowd Mechanical Heating & Air Conditioning
They are exceptional. They are so much better than another company I used. They don't have the advertising budget, but I'll tell you what: Their people are highly trained, they are very responsive and they've been out here several times. They have my contract. It's a high efficiency unit that not everybody can work on.

Dowd Mechanical Heating & Air Conditioning
It is still working, although I think a new one would save me a little more money. I'm not going to replace it yet, because it's only 11 years old. Nevertheless, they did a good job. I reached them through Home Depot and they did the installation. They were Home Depot's installers at the time. The price, including the installation, was $6500. I don't think the price was terrible. I have been using them for servicing my equipment.

    Horizon Services
A regular inspection is like $90 or something in that neighborhood; $89. Then, the guy, the mechanic, who works for Horizon, came to me and said, "you know, the contacts on this starter are really, really burned. You really should replace it. It's not starting up right now". I said "wow, that's funny, that's exactly the same part that another company had replaced, that I thought they ripped me off for", for lack of a better term. I don't like to say that, "ripped me off", they didn't. They gave me exactly what they promised, but it just felt like it was a lot of money and I remembered the pain of that and now Horizon came out and wanted to replace that same part. I said, "you know, it's funny, the other company, it was actually blown out the last time, you could see the hole in it and that's why I called them because it wasn't working and then they gave me a discount because I'm a regular customer. Even with the discount, I felt like the price was too high. Now, you're coming out servicing my machine and telling me that you're going to have to replace a part that was working when you got here and now you're telling me that it isn't". So, I said to the guy, "you know, it's funny, my nephew is in heating and air conditioning, and I know I can get this part". He said, "we have it on our truck and I can put it in right now. It will be $230". I said, "$230?!?". He said "of course well take off the..." I can't remember if it was going to be the $90 inspection fee or what, but I said, "$230? I know that this part, off the shelf, from any supplier, if I had it in my garage, I would have paid $17 and I could give it to you and you could put it in or I could put it in because it's only 2 wires". He said, "yeah, you're right. It's an inexpensive part but we have it on our truck, and you probably could get it for a lot less". I let him know that I wasn't happy, so then he came back and checked his meter again and he said, "well, it's showing that it's working now, so I'm just going to leave it". I said, "yeah, that's probably best" and I never called them again. I knew what's going on. The point is, they're under pressure to sell a certain number of parts out of their truck and unsuspecting customers can be told that something doesn't work when it really does. I don't go for that. It's "bait and switch" and I know that these guys get hired and I know they're under pressure to sell a certain amount of things, but it's not right to take a customer who had a working piece of equipment, you came out to service it, and all of a sudden you're going to put parts in that aren't necessary. I never found out, but I don't think the other company ever did that, but I know as a fact that Horizon did that and that's why I don't call them anymore. I have been happy with a lot of work that they've done but I think they're at the top of the chart as far as cost, but I don't mind paying more if I am getting superior service. One of the things that I do like about Horizon is they do come prepared with their trucks loaded with the right parts. I've never had to have them come back. They can fix pretty much anything and make it work, but you do pay a pretty hefty price for that. I believe if I was running the company, I would be a little different. It may be a little less profitable, I'm also a believer that profit can't be made on one driver and you can't build a business on the backs of customers to maintain superior profitability if your customers don't feel that they're getting the value for their money.

Dowd Mechanical Heating & Air Conditioning
I started using another company. I liked Dowd, but felt that, what happened was, I can't remember exactly, but I had them replace a capacitor or some kind of sort of a start-up motor. It was a relatively inexpensive part but it cost me about $265 after it was put in. It was necessary to be put in because the unit obviously won't run. I know that if I had one on my shelf in the garage, I would have paid about $35 for it and it took 5 minutes to install. Again, I understand that people have to make money, but because I'm a mechanic myself, I know how to do a lot of things. It just seemed like, and I was a regular company, it just seemed like it was a lot of money, so I switched. But, I can tell you that Dowd is no less reasonable than any other company that does this work because I used another company who is ridiculously expensive so I stopped using them as well. Now, I'm doing a lot of that stuff myself because I decided that the tune-ups and everything are, while they're necessary and worthwhile, I can do them as well as they can.

    Modern Air Solutions Inc
I found Stan, the owner, to be honest and knowledgeable. About a week earlier my a/c was not working. That evening I bought the deal offered on Angie's List for a service call after the contractor i previously used couldn't come out for a couple of days. The next morning I heard from Stan, and he was at my house by noon. The unit began working when he arrived but he spent time checking it out. Yesterday it stopped again. I called Stan and he was at the house within a couple of hours. He problem was a leaking condensate pipe that activated a water sensing shut off switch. He replaced the pipe and credited the prior service call payment. A+

Stan did an annual tune up on my heating system.  He was polite and courteous and took the time to answer all my questions.  He wore covers on his shoes so as to not track dirt in the house and he cleaned up after himself.  He  was very thorough with his work and made sure everything looked and worked perfectly.  He also did not try to "up sell" me.  Would definitely recommend him if you are looking for someone to do quality work on your HVAC system at very reasonable prices.
